I am flabbergasted. I tested positive for COVID today even though I wear a mask everywhere I go — which is almost nowhere — and in spite of 2 shots and a booster. I’ve also given it to my 19-year-old son. Yesterday I had bad chills, turned up the heat, wrapped myself in a blanket, took Advil, and slept and felt fine this morning, although toward the end of today I’ve started getting chills again. I have to quarantine for 5 days. I’m glad I’ve been vaccinated, or I could be in the hospital right now.6 points

Actually changing Senate rules is more a danger to the democracy of the US. We found out last week it was 10 guys in fatigues that trained in their moms backyard that are accused of doing something at the Capitol. That hasn't even been proven yet. The rest of the people were protestors and if you go by the democrat definition they were peaceful protestors. I have a better chance of winning every powerball lottery for the rest of the year than those 10 guys had of succeeding. I don't think there is a force big enough anywhere in the world to overtake the US government. On the other hand if the dems eliminate the filibuster they will push through anything they want and one of those things is the voting rights fallacy bill that will take power away from the states and enable them to make their own rules for the elections. Their new voting rules will heavily favor democrats and the chance of any other party winning an election again would be slim to none. Who knows what else they will push through and its scary if you look at their track record now. They are not working for the US or the American citizens. They want to go to war with Russia over Ukraine but won't lift a finger to protect the US border. If things were reversed and Republicans were pushing for Senate rule changes you would be having a fit.4 points

I am using my freedom of speech to say that I think that the Overthrow America Network is bad for this country. If you don’t like it then go back to Russia.3 points

Pretty much everyone in my family got sick the last two weeks. Some tested positive and some didn't, but we all had the same symtoms - like a typical winter cold. Thankfully, the only ones who haven't gotten sick are my parents as even a cold would take a lot out of them.2 points

I don't like the Bengals per se but I'm rooting for them cause 1 I hate the Raiders, 2 I like Joe Burrow and 3 I like their fans. I went to see the Lions play the Bengals in 2009 and the Bengals fans were really cool with me and brother. I remember them trying to make us feel better about our future saying that Stafford and Calvin will turn us around and how both of our franchises times were going to come. Of course 13 years later and neither of us have won a playoff game still but I could just sense how much they cared about their teams and appreciated how respectful they were. Same with Reds fans when I went to see the Tigers play there in 2012. So much different than the Ohioans in Cleveland or Columbus.1 point

every high pick is crucial for this team. if they can get a top 3 pick and get a second star to go with (hopefully) cade being a star, that makes the "process" much closer to coming to fruition. cause hayes, bey, and stewart are just role players if they continue to develop. none of them will ever be stars.1 point

Since you ignored it earlier: But let's be honest here.... conservatives are all about shutting down speech they don't like. That's really what this comes down to, and a big reason why the cancel culture debate is mostly just a bunch of bollocks in my view : the same people who complain about OANN today had no problem canceling Natalie Maines for her comments back in the day about the Iraq War. Or calling for Colin Kaepernick's head. It all comes down to whose ox is being gored.... if one wants to be really principled and say you are all about free speech, you need to do it in all instances. And one needs to be able to recognize that businesses making a business decisions or trusts making decisions in their private interests (ie. the dumb Dr. Seuss controversy) is not cancel culture, but simply business.1 point

Diallo really started to shine when Cade was out and now he is continuing to find a role with Cade back. I would say that is the basis of my comments. I was never concerned about Bey. As far as positions go, I do find it interesting that the Pistons still list Cade as a starting guard and Diallo as a starting forward. It doesn't really matter who is listed where but I do prefer Cade defending bigger/ slower guys than smaller/quicker guys. And I do think the easiest path to project success forward at this point is some kind of lineup that includes Cade and Bey next to two other wing players (including a point guard). Similar to what they are doing now. But I am more a seller than buyer on Hayes at this point. Not that I don't think he can't carve out a productive career but I am just not sure I want it to be as a starter with the Pistons.1 point

lol equivocating the violent storming of the capitol to prevent Congress from doing its constitutionally-mandated duty, versus supporting a legislative change that would restore the balance of one person-one vote in the Senate, as equally threatening to American democracy.1 point

They are far worse because they advocated, and still advocate, the overthrow of American democracy in order to keep the guy who legitimately lost the 2020 election as president, against the will of the people. OAN is bad for America. Good for Russia.1 point

I predict there will be a scandal in major professional sports involving prop bets at some point. It might have already happened, but nobody has been caught yet.1 point

All of these reasons you give for your interest waning in the game are good and valid. To me, they pale against the big reason my interest in the game is in real jeopardy: the integration of gambling into the very fabric of the game. From showing odds and money lines on the MLB Network crawl, to programs about betting on that and many baseball team RSNs,to gambling-related drop-ins on radio and TV game broadcasts, and the eventuality of seeing sportsbooks physically erected within stadiums, the suddenness with which Bsseball has chased after the gambling buck has been breathtaking and appalling. I honestly fear what that might do to the competitive integrity of the game.1 point

You're playing my song. How many years have you guys heard me advocating the idea that deadening the ball will solve practically every problem in the game that has evolved since Chicks Dig The Long Ball started? The reason is simple: pitchers are afraid of giving up home runs. So pitchers have to be super careful to every hitter in the order, because every hitter can take them out of the park. They are trying to induce swing-and-miss on every pitch with maximum velocity and movement, so they end up throwing more pitches per plate appearance and taking more time in between pitches to maximize the gathering of their strength. That might be layering an extra half hour onto game time all by itself. But batters are still trying to jack the ball, which means they're always trying to pull it over the fence, so the shift makes sense to employ on most hitters. Deaden the ball to 1980s-level, and you'll have fewer homers, which means pitchers can pitch to contact, which means batters would need to hit 'em where they ain't instead of hit 'em over their heads, which will eliminate the shift on all but the scariest power hitters. there would be fewer homers, fewer strikeouts, more balls in play, more action on batted balls. I bet fans would come back to see that.1 point

Baseball not promoting its stars is one of their biggest problems, I will say they seemed to try to do that with Ohtani this year so perhaps they are learning. I just remember a couple years ago ESPN ran a fame 100 countdown where they ranked the 100 most famous athletes in the world based on things like social media followers, google searches, endorsement money etc. and iirc not a single baseball player made the list.0 points
