I fly into town Friday for this game....first Lions game ever, first NFL game in general!3 points

The reason trumps explanation of that photo really irks me is because we’ve all seen photos that police FBI etc. take when they have a drug bust or a gun bust. They line things up to take the picture. They never say that’s how they found it! Lol. So ridiculous he’s such an asshole. Imagine making the argument that they made him look sloppy, and yet never refuting the fact that those are documents that were IN HIS OFFICE… I’m just so tired of the stupidity3 points

This is a little harsh, but I see what you mean. It’s defensible to be irked at the idea of someone being practically celebrated for something that would lose most people their jobs. The difference here is that Austin Meadows is a star employee, and star employees in some industries have the ability to leverage their star status to obtain this kind of leeway, while the vast majority of us do not. I’m pretty sure this same industry would not give this kind of leeway to Zack Short or Jacob Barnes, guys who are a couple bad games from having their careers end for them, anyway. File that one under “Life Ain’t Fair”, I guess.2 points

I just like how several players in the system seemed to take steps forward this year and in many cases kept getting better as they moved up in competition, it gives me hope that maybe we have something in Garko and Co. on the player development side and can hopefully in due time start to produce MLB caliber prospects regularly like some of the better organizations do.2 points

Even with the benefit of a mental health leave available, a lot of workers aren't comfortable yet asking for one. There's some work to do to get workers comfortable with the idea. This might be one benefit in which the employers are actually ahead of the employees when it comes to acceptance. https://news.bloomberglaw.com/daily-labor-report/paid-leave-covers-mental-health-days-but-stigma-still-clouds-use1 point

Sanchez is probably playing 1B because that position was previously handled by Torkelson and Lester, both of whom are with Detroit now.1 point

It’s truly disgusting where we are today. Outright lies and obvious slander just get a pass, with hardly a raised eyebrow. Absolutely no self-respecting candidate should want an ENDORSEMENT from a person who spews this crap, these unfounded accusations - that are stated as FACTS. I repeat - disgusting.1 point

If you mean with Candelario - I don't think Candelario is even a very good 1b. He for sure doesn't play 1st as well as he plays 3rd and we are dumping pretty hard on his 3b play!1 point

It’s tough to gauge right now without a GM in place. The pros and cons are probably equal in weight. I suspect he is brought back and they kick the longer term 3B decision down the road, but it’s just an uneducated guess.1 point

The talent might be there, but I didn't think it was all that impressive last night. I don't know, I'm not a leatherhead with Xs and Os, but either Notre Dame had a helluva game plan with keeping everything in front of them on defense and not allowing any long gains and/or the OSU offense was just not clicking. Maybe it was just a matter of getting into game speed or lining up against another team or something like that. It just took them a while to get things going. As it was, I'll take the W and buddha bought drinks. Yesterday, it was a good day.1 point

I heard Sean Casey tell this story once, he was playing for the Red Sox and twice within a week he was thrown out at second trying to stretch a single into a double. After the second time he was extremely angry, and Terry Francona put his arm around his shoulder and they went for a short walk up the runway. When they got a safe distance away from the dugout Francona turned to him and said "are you sure you don't have polio?"1 point

Maybe the Mud Hens had a ping pong battle royale to determine Cabrera's replacement and Lester was the winner?1 point

I was wondering if OSU could sneak in another TD late. Miyan Williams would’ve been the only shot. They maybe should’ve gotten him going a little earlier. I’ll take an Abita Purple Haze. I haven’t had one of those in a while.1 point

that's correct! I imagine we were told there would be no math, but most generally, what you do is find the nearest/most recent common ancestor between two people count the steps down to each person of interest if the paths are of different lengths, subtract the number of steps in the shorter path from the number of steps in the longer path subtract 1 from the number of steps in the shorter path the number in step 4 is the degree of cousin-hood. two people who share a grandparent will be 2 steps from the grandparent; subtract 1 and you have 1, or first cousins. second cousins have someone's great-grandparent in common. the number in step 3 is the removal. for you and your cousin's kid, you'll again find that you're two steps down from your grandparent, while the cousin's kid will be 3. the difference is 1, so once removed. and the same would happen if your cousin's grandkid did the same—"Sue is 2 steps, and I'm 4 steps, so we're first cousins twice removed."1 point

Watching the Tigers is like having minor surgery every day...you go in hoping for the best, they put you to sleep, and when you come to, you're in pain and feeling nauseous.1 point

I keep seeing the Twitter bubble referenced—not sure who all this entails, but the ones I’m aware of I view mostly as Tigers fans. Emily seems nice, but it seems like she is typically sharing information that she comes across. I view Dan Hasty as an employee of the Tigers org and he is probably the most sunny and optimistic guy on the platform—he’d find positives in Jeffrey Dahmer if he was a Whitecap. Chris C doesn’t profess to be an analyst—just a very engaging and passionate super fan. Not sure who else is part of the Twitter mafia, but I really doubt that anyone here puts too much stock in any of it. I’ve learned much more from people here, like Gehringer, mutiger, Buddha, etc.. even still, I don’t agree with all of their perspectives. It’s called critical thinking, and we all possess it. To suggest otherwise is both incorrect and douchy.1 point

Of course in Russia's case it hard not to give them credit even when they don't deserve it since they are trying so hard.1 point

of course, but its not a crime against humanity like some are making it out to be. its perfectly fine to wonder what's going on with erod and matthews. its also perfectly fine to be skeptical about what is said publicly about it, cause the parties at issue all have reason to form a specific narrative that supports them and their careers. as usual "nobody knows nothin." but thats really no fun. its fun to talk about what it might be. besides, erod and matthews arent here, so we can talk all the crap about them we want, lol!1 point

I have seen a number of comments, here and elsewhere, that start out with “I didn’t watch the speech, but…” and then proceed to bring up all sorts of outrage and some dire warnings. Maybe those folks could spend a few minutes to find out what was said before jumping to some pretty radical conclusions. Maybe the outrage is the goal. Maybe the speech never included them in any condemnations.1 point
