So, earlier today I signed all of the papers to close on a condo. I've been keeping it mostly quiet because finding a home in my price range in this city (especially downtown) is akin to finding a unicorn anyplace but in a fantasy novel, and the process dragged on and on. It's the first home I've ever owned, and for the first time in my adult life I'll have a proper bedroom. Better late than never! 🙂

Lacking strong alliances and a coastline we could not sustain our support for the Afghan government. The Pakistanis are the closest ally of China. They f'd us over too many times during the GWOT. Central Asian countries are under Putin's thumb. Ukraine and Taiwan are much surer places to build the bulwarks of democracy. But go ahead and keep chirping.

to a large extent this a comparison of problems with much different time scale solutions. Economies can bounce back and be built up by the quarter. The planets align to provide an opportunity like this to help free a population from tyranical government and incorporate it to the 'West' (a poor term but for lack of better shorthand..) maybe once every few decades. As I write the above I am immediately skeptical of it's neo-con tilt, but TBF, the neo-con program for Iraq didn't fail for it's concept as much as for its projection of a cultural framework onto Iraqi society that was too different from what was actually there. One assumes that being less culturally distant, we comprehend what we are doing in Ukraine more clearly. We hope.

If Republicans come to the table in 2024 with Trump as their nominee and only having done a bunch of investigations on Biden, his family, Anthony Faucci, etc. they will get wiped out. Short of a catastrophic economic collapse or 9/11 sized tragedy, they will pay a heavy political price for having no agenda and only spending the last 2 years acting like a bunch of goons.

That was always my issue with HULU....they would cut to commercial in the middle of a scene. You're right that holding Afghanistan was a much harder task, but it was supportable... at a cost. It almost sounds like you're saying that the benefit didn't outweigh the cost in Afghanistan, but that it does in Ukraine because the circumstances are different. Facts such as Ukraine had already established a democracy, shaky as it might be, a democracy nonetheless and that it had trained soldiers in it's army differentiate it immensely from Afghanistan. Note - the original response I wanted to give to this was to pull up a video of someone being stoned to death in Afghanistan with a snarky comment.

My list of demands include: - An extra 1st Round Pick in every draft until we get one right. - Josh Allen has to play for the Lions on Thursday - Sheila gets to own Washington too, but uses them as a Minor League franchise for the Lions - A "Money in the Bank" card that allows the Lions to play the Super Bowl champion at any time in the next year and if they win, they get named champion. - Green Bay gets stripped of all wins in the Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre eras and the NFL publicly admits that both of them are kind of a dick.

Going to be a rough couple of weeks. Road trip No Cade for at least a couple games No Stew Teams might just drop 130 on us every night, especially if we start Bagley next to Bey and Bogey. The three "B"s might be the worst defensive front line in the entire NBA. I would hope they'd at least give Duren a try in order to have some sort of rim protection and rebounding in there with the starters. And/Or maybe leave Bey in his bench role to get him ready for Stew's return and put Livers in there at the 4. He's not a stopper, but he's a far superior team defender than Bey.
