  3. When I adopted Lucy last August they said should might only be around 6 more months, depending on how aggressively the cancer returned. I made the decision to adopt her because she is such a sweet dog that even if she was sick, she deserved a good life, a happy life. I also decided that I wasn't going to spend a lot of money having it removed if it was only going to keep coming back. I am happy to report that Lucy is doing well as we approach our 7 month point. She has her own room and her own human-sized bed. She is a very very happy and energetic girl and she does not have a mean cell in her body. Don't know how long this will last, but I am glad I adopted her, even if it means pain later on. She deserves every bit of happiness she gets. I still get shaken for a moment when I think of Diego, but Lucy keeps me busy. She's on Cat Watch in the backyard on this freakishly warm February day.

  4. I agree, she's not just a social media influencer, she's an actual member of Congress. One who sits on the House Homeland Security Committee, FFS. And she's basically advocating an Unconstitutional and, frankly, anti-American position in her capacity as such. In terms of social media backlash, I sort of get what Rob is saying, she's trying to draw attention/outrage because it's her brand and she won't care what anyone on MTS thinks. But because of her capacity in Congress, members of the media are fully within their right and they should be asking questions of Kevin McCarthy daily why someone in her position is allowed to serve on committees or even be in Congress while advocating such a position.

  5. Sure didn’t make Trump go away. I’m not disagreeing that it’s best ON TWITTER to just ignore, and not respond, however, I don’t believe that ignoring her antics and letting her ridiculous lies and statements go without counterpoints and pushback is wise. She is a menace to our democracy, and should be acknowledged as such.

  6. Holmes made the comment after the trade that they would have traded Hock if they were 6-1 or 1-6. I think he was being at least a little flippant with that comment, but I don't think the regime was ever interested in re-signing Hockenson long-term. Whether that means they don't value the position of a primarily pass-catching TE at all, or whether it means they just don't value paying $15MM plus AAV for that position, or whether it means they don't value paying TJ Hockenson $15MM plus AAV, remains to be seen. If I had to guess it would be a combination of #2 and #3. Meaning they're cool with having a TE on a rookie deal who can catch passes, and they're maybe cool with paying a Travis Kelce type a big contract if they have him, but they're not going to pay big money to Hock, who is not and will never be Kelce.

  7. Children's author probably geared to ages 9, 10, 11 or so. My son loved some of his books. James and the Giant Peach, Willie Wonka among others. There are some misogyny and racial overtones in some of his books and I understand the concern of some. But I feel the same way about banning and possibly rewriting some of the Dr Seuss books or even Mark Twain. I feel somewhere its the role of the parent(s) to discuss concerns with their children not self appointed or elected gatekeepers.

  8. This. I know they still get away selling obstructed view seats at Fenway, but at this point that is a weird exception to a general rule that people are not going to pay good money to still behind poles and close to half the seats at TS were behind the poles. The good seats at TS were the best anywhere, but there weren't enough of them.

  12. Also, regarding the position she advocates, it's not going to happen and she knows it. But I gotta say, as someone whose politics runs in the opposite direction of the state that one lives in, it's pretty annoying when people advocate secession. i would even say the same thing for Republicans who live in states like Illinois or California, people are often born into a place and can't just easily drop everything and move just because of politics. Or they move to a place because they got a job and politics didn't cross their mind when they did that... They shouldn't be forced to accept a "divorce" and the end of their country because of some crazy partisan jackwagons and their inability to tolerate people with differing viewpoints. Anyone who advocates such a position is someone who has an unhealthy relationship with politics, to put it midly.

  13. as you say, i dont think they traded hock because they didnt like him or tight ends that can stretch the field, its that they didnt want to pay him after this season and he was valuable enough to get something back in trade. also, st brown's emergence sort of made hock expendable. they both operate in the same spaces. theyre also both going to have to get paid. so they traded one of them.

  18. My Big Fat Fabulous Life....................every promo for the show shows her breaking down in tears at some point. What's fabulous about that? Reality TV is cheaper to produce and there's a reason for it, because it's absolute garbage. Now we have "influencers". It's just garbage. There is ALWAYS a Law & Order episode on somewhere. Always.

  19. when we were driving home from our yearly trips to TN, we always picked up WJR just south of Lexington. That's when the mountains started to give way. This was only during the night though. When I started driving I would like to leave around 3 pm, but before that the "old people" left in the morning.

  20. My company sends out phishing tests and if you fail, then you are put on a list for potentail training. If you pass, you don't. The way you pass is 1) don't open it, 2) they give us a method to report a phish attempt. It's also a good way to get out of some stuff. A few times I would say "Sorry, didn't see that, I thought it was a phishing attempt"

  22. If everything goes right, I see Cabrera as a one game per series guy, which would put him right around 50 games and perhaps 200 plate trips. If he gets substantially more than that, something has gone horribly wrong.

  23. Sun Tzu sas, “Strategy without tactic is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat." I had always heard this as: Strategy without tactics is Winston Churchill dropping the ANZACs at Gallipollii or the Anzio landings. Tactics without strategy is the Wehrmacht constantly punching holes into the Red Army to limited long term effect without the ability to form an effective defense because Hitler's no retreats orders made it impossible to form a cohesive defensive front. I have also heard this as tactics without strategy is pointless and strategy without tactics is bloodyminded.

  26. It wouldn't bother me to have him as a cheerleader in the dugout. And let him glad-hand fans and opposing teams every single game. And I don't care if they call it "Ambassador", "Ambassador Coach", "Detroit Fans Designated Coach", "Official Hat-Waving Coach", or whatever. I could care less what position he holds. Coach or otherwise. He will have zero effect on the field, Hinch will make certain of that. So call it whatever you want to call it.

  28. Well, the idea that wanting fewer people to have access to your product is a good idea is absurd. This isn't diamonds here, this is baseball, it's not elitist, but if that's what they want, well, good luck with that. More viewers = higher commercial royalties = more profit. Why do you think they charge so much for a Super Bowl ad. (oh, sorry, Big Game, don't sue me, NFL). When it was Fox Sports I could watch the Tigers, every single game. Sinclair came along and took that option away, so excuse me for celebrating their downfall. I hope they rot. If they had a great business model, then they'd be in a better place. I even paid for their stupid streaming channel for one month. I thought $20 was worth it as a Tiger fan. It was nothing but issue after issue. It was one of the most poorly designed apps/streaming channels I've ever dealt with, so I cancelled it. Couldn't log on half the time. I'd have to change my password, it would suddenly stop, I'd try to log in again and I would have to go change my password --- again. Plus, on more than one occasion, it got stuck in a commercial loop and I had to shut it down, and login again. Couldn't get any response from them at all. Oh, it doesn't play nice with Amazon Fire Stick. Are you kidding me? Nobody uses those things. And your idea that Sinclair radio and TV are different? They are run by the same people at the top.

  30. On that note, why is there often a marathon of a show called Naked and Afraid on Animal Planet? And I miss when Discovery and The History Channel had documentaries about science and history. I do sometimes find shoes about WWII that are interesting on one channel (forget the name of it), but that's about it.

  31. That shipped sailed 20 years ago, for a bunch of those networks. History Channel isn't historical; Discovery discovered that the money is in cheap reality nonsense; Travel Channel travels only to where there are yetis or ghosts; Sundance is all Law & Order and no Sundance films; Nat Geo's geography encompasses anything involving crime or UFOs; you can learn only about 1,000-pound women and being secretly pregnant on the Learning Channel; the Science Channel is focused on the "science" of the paranormal; and A&E isn't particularly artful or entertaining anymore.
