I think the bottom line is that Bally is responsible to do all the leg work but the team can blackball any name they put forward. I would guess that means the Bally people will keep pretty close counsel with Harris from the beginning to avoid wasting their time chasing down someone he's going to veto.

I just looked it up. They knocked it down to 2, Contemporoary (1980-Present) and Classic (Prior). Contemproary had their ballot in Dec 2022 and the cadence is every 3 years now. So maybe in just over 2 years Lou will get his induction.

The fascination with "leagues" is what holds baseball back because they won't ever go to an East/West format like the NHL and NBA. And I don't know I'd want them to either since history is so important. Moving teams like Houston and Milwaukee, which had little tradition wasn't a big deal.

I think Joe Veleno is going to surprise some people working on that 4th line. I could see him getting 15-20 goals this season working between Kostin and Fischer

Brush. Spray would have required complete coverage of everything around it and I don't trust myself to do that right! All the doors and trim were builder wood color with gold knobs. Also, full disclosure, if I were to walk into that room, I would not pay any mind to the mismatch until it was pointed out.

Full disclosure: I have no eye for decoration. That said, if you were to stain other areas, you have all that base plate around the room and stairs that would not match. If it were my house, I'd go with white all the way so it all matches.

Having just been to the HOF last week I can say that the "controversy" over the plaque logo is overblown. That doesn't signify "going in as...". Many of the plaques, the earlier ones, had the player looking sideways or with no logo. Not that I will be back anytime soon since it's like a 9 hour drive, but if I were to be back there in a year or so I could see myself not even going into the gallery room. There's 3 floors to the HOF. We got there at 9:15, watched a movie from 9:40 to 10, finished floors 2 and 3 in about 3 hours, and the plaque hall is on the first floor and it litereally took me about 10 minutes to see all the plaques, and that's with having to wait for people to move. I looked at every single plaque too.

I think it was time for a new hat.

The first step of building a team from nothing is different from taking the final step to championship level. You use your draft picks in the draft when building because you need as much cost-effective talent as possible to build your core. Holmes has completed that step, as well as the second step of surrounding that core with quality depth. We're now at the final step where one or two great pieces can put your team over the top to be legitimate SB contenders. I'm not saying to go all Eff Them Picks, but eff some of them if it gets you a stud at an important position.

The free agent class is terrible. But there should be opportunity to find a team that wants to cut payroll and take a big contract off their hands to fill in offensive gaps.
