  2. I conked out between the 10th and 11th innings. Timing. Obligatory unsolicited opinion: I don’t like that the zombie-runner rule is different in the playoffs than during the regular season. It’s a tacit admission that they are not 100% behind the rule itself—if they were behind it, it wouldn’t be different. Baseball should either always use it, never use it, or modify it such that they become 100% behind it. Pick a lane.

  3. What a fun game to be at! Bottom line for me is this is a different team on defense from last year. The effort and physicality is so much higher. I’m seeing Stew and Duren make defensive plays and then celebrate and flex at the Pistons bench. Haven’t seen stuff like that since the Wallace days. Absolutely love it. With the youth in this core, they’re still a few years from competing, but it’s good to see an identity finally being built. Offense is a struggle at times, especially when Cade spends the game in foul trouble, but I love the attention to defense. Obviously, turnovers are a problem, but we’re dealing with 5 guys under 22 in their second game in a new system. It’ll be ok. Have to get Burks in the starting lineup for Killian. If you haven’t watched the Vecinie breakdown posted above, you should. They need that shooting threat and also a vet who can draw a foul and calm things down. Have to give Monty props. This looks like a different team so far. Also, I see him making in game lineup adjustments as opposed to just following a script. I have criticism here and there, but just seeing a coach try to make adjustments is refreshing.

  4. The team is building a defensive and physical identity, you can see the roots of a good team down the line starting to grow. Too many turnovers, they need to clean that up. Also, it needs to be said that the much maligned Isiah Stewart has been very good the first 2 games. If he keeps playing like this, he'll be worth that contract and then some.

  6. I am not there at all. I still don't watch extra inning games because putting free runners on base is not baseball. It's good that they don't have it in the playoffs, but I will never be OK with them doing it in the regular season. I'd rather see a game end in a tie than see free base runners.

  7. Fun start to the season. There’s definitely a different vibe to this team with Cunningham on the floor. The offense needs work, the turnovers are aggravating. But I love defense, and this team looks like they’re interested in playing it. If they can keep up the defense and grow into offense this will be an enjoyable season of growth.

  8. I'll ad that I feel the same way about the pitch clock. Either always in use or drop it. I happen to like it, but different rules for the playoffs may be a deal breaker for me. Also ban the damn reporters from the dugouts and playing field during the game. The interviews were extremely annoying

  9. bulls got blown out in game one and then had a players only meeting. one game into the season. lol. and then went to overtime to beat the soft as a pillow raptors. the bulls are exactly the same team they were last year (and the year before that). derozan and lavine are ball stopping scorers. vucevic is an immobile big whose shot has become less reliable but still pours in 15 and 10 every game. he's also tired of watching lavine and derozan go one on one all night, every night. they had a big shouting match on opening night. coby white is the latest point guard to play now that lonzo ball has been injured for three straight seasons. he's increased his playmaking abilities and improved his shot. he's still small and should be able to be beaten by detroit's bigger guards. caruso is the other guard and is a great defender/pest until he inevitably gets hurt and misses two months. the bench is ok. headed by old friend andre drummond and ayo donsumno. torey craig has been good this year on that unit. all in all, the bulls are a team that can beat you if lavine and derozan are on. if they're not, the bulls are awful. and lavine and derozan dont play much defense most of the time. i suspect caruso guards cade. it would be nice to see ivey play to take advantage of coby's lack of size (caveat, coby is better at defense this year, but he still isnt great). as we know, killian cant score on anyone. up front, stew and duren should be able to run circles around the bulls' frontcourt, but vuc is a wiley vet and if he's hitting his shots he might get to duren. duren should kill him on the boards and in pick and rolls wirh cade. ausar on derozan will be a good test for the rookie. nobody seems to be falling for derozan's 5 million pump fakes anymore so we'll see if ausar can read a scouting report and control his impulses to try to block everything. derozan doesnt run or pay attention on d so look for ausar in transition or sneaking in the backdoor. i think the pistons can win this game unless lavine goes off for 40 like he occasionally does. on the second half of a back to back/3 in 4 nights and on the road? probably not.

  10. Showing off my new hobby. I posted in the Lions forum some "statues" I make of Lions and I wanted to show off my Tigers too.

  11. Makes you wonder why Casey couldn't get even a fraction of this effort on defense. It's definitely a culture change that permeates up and down the roster. When you have your teammates busting their butt to stop the other team, it's pretty hard to be lazy and not try on defense. We'll see how it long it lasts if we start losing a lot but I agree Monty deserves a lot of credit for getting us to this point.

  12. Cade is a far better decision maker. He's a little loose with the ball at times but so is Ivey but as a floor general, I much MUCH prefer Cade to be the primary ball handler. d

  13. they double team cade constantly, they never double team ivey. if they single covered cade, he would be as successful as ivey. and i like ivey! i thought this was a much better game for him. the question is whether ivey can handle the ball well enough and defend well enough to be a second guard next to cade instead of killian. i hope he can be because killian's lack of shooting ability hinders the offense with cade.

  19. I can see a scenario where deals are cut to ask certain questions so POTUS is instructed to call on them at some point. But I can’t see a normal journalist agreeing if they know that’s the only questions. It’s fiction sure but the show did have former WH staff as writers. On the season 2 finale of the west wing Bartlett was to call on a certain reporter first in order to help calm things down initially (whether he was to run again after revealing he concealed MS). I won’t spoil it. That run of episodes is the greatest thing ever on network TV.
