Interesting side story: Milt Wilcox once told me a story that **** Allen Always wore sleeves under his jersey because he thought pitchers would be intimidated by his muscles and not pitch to him. Wilcox also said Allen hit a homerun off of him in old Comisky Park that is still going.5 points

Michigan gonna screw around and go three and out just to give Maryland another chance and raise my blood pressure even more.2 points

Maybe non-difficult players wouldn't think Harris such a jerk if he chooses to not bring back players who ghost their teammates for months at a time, or who malinger with "injuries" like cracked toenails even in an attempt to manipulate service time for personal gain.2 points

I've worn steel toe shoes half my life. They have other materials now, they don't have to be steel and yes they are light enough to run in. If I was Manning, I'd be getting a pair for sure.1 point

I would think the players would look at how the Tigers publicly handled his thing last year in a positive light. They would want the same courtesy. I see that as a different thing from his contract situation and the same with Spencer. That’s just business and they assume all orgs are like that. They can distinguish between how they treat you professionally and personally.1 point

This seems to happen every year the week before a highly anticipated Game and isn't usually indicative of what is to come the following week.1 point

i guess we have different ideas on what the "long term institutional objectives" of the university of michigan are. this is not meant in any way as a criticism of you or anyone else working to educate students at michigan. however, when i see tuition rates increasing multiple folds, when i see universities substitute foreign students for in state students because they pay more, when i see schools increasing class sizes and decreasing professors, increasing the use of cheap grad students or non-tenured faculty and paying them a pittance, increasing the size of the administrative bloat at the university with provost after meaningless provost, and sitting on billion dollar endowments that they use for junkets and new administration buildings and fancy athletic complexes, i find it hard to believe that the actual "mission" of the university of michigan is anything other than to make money for the university and the bureaucrats who run it. in that respect, having "student" employees who play football to advertise the university and make its big money alumni happy and donating more into the machine that is the "university of michigan", this new world fits right in. "the bureaucracy is expanding to meet the needs of the expanding bureaucracy." that's the university system right now.1 point

And can we stop with the stupid rule tripe? Yes, maybe it is a stupid rule. But its what everybody has to abide by until new legislation is in place. This is a stupid rule: When the offensive team fumbles the football out of the end zone, the result is a turnover, 1st and 10 at the 20. That's way too punitive. I bet most coaches and fans agree. But you never see the fumbling team's coach send his offense out to the 20 to try to snap the ball before anyone realizes what is going on.1 point

I think it's just as likely neither Tiger situation has any buzz among players in general because 1) like everyone else, probably none of them have much of a clue what was going on with ERod an thus likely have no opinion about it one way or the other - in the end he's just a guy with an opt out that took it. Nothing to see there. 2) With Turnbull non-tendered, no-one actually had their service manipulated in the end. No player is going to hold it against a team that they cut somebody loose who appears to have wanted just that.1 point

Washington St is kicking the stuffing out of Colorado. About to be 42-7 at halftime.1 point

I don't think it will impact players coming here either. I was responding to Chas' assertion that he had just sent a message to problem players. I didn't necessarily think that would be good thing, but I also don't think that's what happened.1 point

If Meadows signs with another team and plays the entire season, the Tigers need to sue him.1 point

Credit everyone who has played Michigan so far this year with an extra TD for their 2022 games vs Michigan - hell, go nuts, credit MSU with an extra 5 TDs. Retroactively give OSU 15 more points for the 2020 and 2021 games.1 point

Patientce. An injured pitcher making a come back and a multi-position guy are going to sign any day now.1 point

so cleveland sat their best player tonight against detroit, eh? what a surprise.1 point

Spencer Turnbull learned the same lesson that Eduardo Rodriguez did, and that every player who is in the organization now and in the future will now understand completely: no matter how talented you might be, when you **** with Scott Harris, it is a career move.1 point

I don't think so. I'm with you in thinking Lavine isn't a winning player. Plus, if Williams can get Ivey to play just average defense, he becomes a pretty nice player.1 point

The Wings played a beautiful first two periods. If the game had ended after 40 minutes, I might have considered it the best win of the year. Alas …0 points
