  5. one man's amateur box score reader/you tube highlight watcher/old hockey fan who has seen a lot come and go and been burned by thinking yves racine was the next reed larson... positives: edvinsson is ready now and should really be on the top team. the downside of bringing in petry at the last minute, imo. asp looks like an offensive beast. small but with a great shot and great offensive mobility. defense? shut your whore mouth about defense... danielson was so impressive in training camp. scoring decently in the whl. he still reminds me of a poor man's jonathan toewes. middle: i'm not sold on cossa and hope they trade him for a big piece considering they have augustine waiting in the wings now. mazur has been hurt too long to tell. he needs time to get back up to speed. before the injury he was knocking on the door. i have a feeling his ceiling is a more sound bertuzzi, his likely outcome is veleno. wallinder is in his first year in ahl, too early to tell but he's not exactly lighting it up. buium is still in college but his numbers are ok. his little brother was profiled as an up and coming prospect recently...but not our guy. he may max out as ollie maata if he makes it. or part of a trade like sebrango was. like sebrango he was a surprise subtraction from some national teams. might be maxxing out now. lombardi is really small but i still have high hopes. he's also not ripping it up but its his first season in the ahl. i think the wings are pushing their guys quickly to the ahl this time to give them a taste of the physical nature of the nhl. dropping: kasper hasnt done anything. very disappointing so far. looks like a try hard third line center with some skill. feisty. jt compher ceiling with a brad marchand attitude? a get under your skin guy more than a game breaking talent. soderblum looks more and more like a career ahl/nhl yo yo guy. his skating may never develop to the point he's an nhl player. that said, if he can get stronger and keep his great handle, he might have a career as a gargantuan tomas holmstrom. future: they took a bunch of big defensemen last year. havent heard a ton about them. dower nilsson profiles as a potential scorer but he's not exactly ripping it up this year and he's still in the swedish "minors". compare dower nilsson to asp. asp is two years younger and has 8 goals in sweden's top division. dower nilsson isnt even there yet. buchelnikov is only 20 and is playing full time in russia's top league now. has 4 goals in 24 games. could be one to watch. red savage has 16 points in 16 games for msu this year.

  6. fontes was awful. they had an identity with barry and the run and shoot and then he changed them to a two tight end team overnight. he lobbied for andre freaking ware. pat swilling. every mistake the lions ever made in that time was because of that moron. he went into philly for the playoffs against an 8-8 philly team led by RODNEY PEETE and got obliterated. fontes was a clown, not a football coach.

  7. I still believe Schwartz was a better coach than he was given credit for and should have been given a second chance. He's proven to still be an elite defensive coordinator and a little maturity and lessons learned from his Lions tenure would make him a good hire. I think Campbell is the best of the Super Bowl era. He is the first coach I've seen actually build an identity and team and improve year to year.

  8. I can easily see DC ending with the most wins by the time he's finished here. Crazy that he's already a 1/3rd the way there, and half of his time here the team was terrible. The Lions really have a sad history.

  9. Am I excited for thus, yes, it's Patrick Kane. How can you not be at least a little bit excited. But I've taken the time to actively and seriously temper my expectations. I in no way ever expect him to be what he was before the injury. His PPG days and 90 point seasons are looooong past him. But even if he gives us what he was in his last year with the Hawks I'd take that and be happy. I'm going to wince the first time he takes a big hit though or gets thrown to the ice. Let's hope that hip is healed and ready to go.

  14. The importance of it was setting up the 3 camera sitcom, studio audiences, establishing the west coast as a TV industry, and societal things like referencing pregnant women, a hispanic male lead, along with showing repeats, syndication, etc. When pitching the show one of the execs said "Ok but lose the Cuban... the country won't believe a woman like that is married to a Cuban", apprantly ignorant of the fact that... she was married to a Cuban.

  15. I haven't seen anything. Usually they don't announce it until pretty soon before the game. I'm not sure how far in ahead it's actually planned.

  16. New Chris Stapleton music out this year with his single White Horse. As you would expect from Stapleton, it's raw, real, and amazing songwriting. Stapleton has perhaps the best voice in modern country music too.

  21. I learned about 'soaking' today, which my guess was one Mormon teenager that convinced his naive girlfriend this was a thing or possibly just joked about it. The thread is pretty funny, yet you have a ton of "Miguy" type people that clearly think most Mormon teenagers do this and go to far with it. As the thread gets going, you tend to realize the joke is on the anti-religion folks that actually fall for this stuff, not on the story itself.

  25. Wrong. Look, I'll defend you, TP, in the game threads. I've said a million times: What happens during the game stays during the game. We're all a little crazy while the game is on and that's fine. But the whole point of the ignore function is so people can AVOID getting into little ticky-tack flame wars. If a person gets rubbed the wrong way by a specific person then use the ignore. That's way the feature is there.
