  1. 2/10/1967 SP-4 Thomas Manning, from Chesterton IN, 21 years old, was killed when the fuel truck he was driving was involved in a “traffic accident”. In Viet Nam .He was 21 and pulling extra duty. He was my first cousin. Donald Trump received 5 deferments because of “bone spurs”. How many boys died because of his cowardice? His sons have never held real jobs in their lives . Am I bitter, hell yes.

  3. Honestly, I am really just hoping he makes it so I can yell it at games. Also he is 2/2 with a HR and a SB today.

  5. Not a big fan of Stephen A. Smith. But Brown isn't marketable because he said some dumb ****. Supporting Kanye. Supported Kyrie, some anti-sematic stuff, etc. The large, mainstream brands wont touch a guy like that. Also, if Zeke is your character witness, you ****ed up.

  6. I believe Anderson and Leyland had a higher regard and respect for the game than Hinch ever will. Sparky refusing to manage replacement players says more about his respect for the integrity of the game than I could say for him. Anderson signed his resignation papers on the game he loved that spring without fully realizing it at the time. Leyland & Anderson are HOF members that were never good players. They’re in because they respected the game and brought integrity to the dugout. They were winners on and off the field. I don’t see Hinch ever being that guy.

  7. If only the pitching would’of kept Toronto to single digits, then we wouldn’t have to worry about hypotheticals and theoreticals and the spreadsheets could’of had a day off, too.

  10. Lynn must have heard you 😅 https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2024/05/26/around-detroit-tigers-farm-franyerber-montilla-starts-strong-in-fcl/73859709007/ That’s the Florida Complex League, and it’s where Franyerber (Frankie) Montilla, who a month ago turned 19, is becoming one of the Tigers’ hottest and most fascinating farmhands. Montilla is a shortstop, primarily, and a switch-batter who after a dozen FCL games Sunday was batting .317/.517/.463/.981, with six doubles. As impressive were his 15 walks against eight strikeouts. Also — 11 stolen bases. Also in that article ▶ Still no return date revealed for right-handed prize Jackson Jobe, who has missed the past four weeks with a strained hamstring. He is rehabbing at Lakeland and could return to Double-A Erie’s rotation later in June, at the earliest.

  11. I hope Duren fans are watching the Mavs-Wolves series. You can not invest big money in a big man that can't play/defend on the perimeter. If you can't defend out there you better have a Jokic level offensive game.

  12. We once had a substitute teacher in high school. He said his name was Ben Dover. Some students believed him and started calling him Mr Dover.

  14. I don't think because fans question a manager's decisions in hindsight that means much - hell manager's question their own decisions in hindsight. The huge level of random drivers in baseball guarantee that close to half your close decisions will turn out wrong. You want a guy gone when he gets to where what he does is more than occasionally comes out wrong and moves into the region of impossible to explain (Ausmus) and/or he's obviously losing the team (Tram). AJ has strengths and weaknesses like any guy in any job. Just to hear him talk you can tell he loves managing pitching, the coaching of the pitchers and managing game time use. He shows very little of that excitement when he talks about hitting, so I hope he has other people on the staff that have the energy around hitting that AJ clearly does with pitching. But it is one of AJ's peculiarities that I guess he frowns on his coaches talking to the press (wants everything to go through him?) because we never hear much from any the Tigers coaches. This is a departure from a guy like Leyland -- where McClendon or Jeff Jones would often talk to reporters.

  15. I don’t think anyone wants Hinch fired. I certainly don’t but whereas in the past I felt he was beyond question I no longer feel that way. I also acknowledge that my impatience for a winner is affecting my confidence in him.

  17. In the grander sweep of things, this team lacks talent and experience . I will consider AJ's performance when they have both.

  19. Some of you may not be familiar with pro wrestling commentator Gordon Solie. Gordon was a legend here in Florida. Anytime multiple wrestlers were involved in a fight, Gordon would describe the action as a Pier Six brawl. Today, the Tigers won a Pier Six brawl against the Blue Jays.

  21. Had an uncle who took up smoking after his wife passed. He was of the WWII or Korea generation. Like most he smoked then quit for a long time, from like the 70s onwards. Then in the mid 2010’s he’d sit outside the small house they bought in the 50s and raised 3 kids in and smoke and lived out the rest of his life. Had a quick illness but nothing out of the ordinary. I always told him I wanted to be him when I grew up.
