I believe Hinch is one of the top managers in the game and the Tigers are lucky to have him, but fans of every franchise routinely despise and second guess their managers, especially when that team is losing, so here we are.5 points

Parker keeping on keeping on, 2/4, BB and SB tonight. OPS still holding >900 Vilade wins the game for Toledo with a GS in the top of the 9th.3 points

If Parker is right, he does change the game with his speed and defense. Hope we get this version.2 points

Anyway back on the actual topic of this thread which shockingly isn't whether or not Keith should be moved to 1st. One trade chip that seems to have been on the back burner and honestly I hadn't thought about much is Carson Kelly. He has a wRC+ of 108 on the year and has been worth 1.2 WAR (according to FG). Looking at the teams who may want to upgrade at catcher you have Texas, San Diego, Arizona, Seattle, Minnesota, and NYM in the bottom half of the league regarding WAR from the catcher position. Not going to get a premium prospect for him but you may be able to pick up a Hao-Yu Lee type. Also let's not forget this was a Harris signing and honestly a good one.2 points

I've argued with him several times and he never told me to follow another team. Maybe put me in my place but never to go away. 😆1 point

IIRC, when they picked up Kelly they were hoping as distance increased from the wrist injury he might recover some of the bat he showed early in his career.1 point

Switch Ibanez for Urshela and I like this lineup. Urshela and Canha have been awful offensively for awhile now. I'm not really hopeful of getting anything for either of them by the deadline.1 point

I’m wondering whether the episode will cost them votes. Writers withhold Hall of Fame votes for “morality” reasons a lot.1 point

The Tigers have lost 7 out of 8 series. I don't think they are capable of even sweeping the dugout.1 point

I am up here in Traverse City for a few days, was up at the family cabin in the UP near Munising the last 5 days, came down to Traverse for the 4th and 5th, heading back to Cleveland tomorrow. Looking forward to watching this game at some kind of a casual establishment tonight during dinner. Love (the state - not the wolverines can go to hell!) Michigan, just didn’t become a tigers fan when I was a kid ha. Anyways, good luck this weekend, tigers fans. I’m glad this place is still kicking, and glad I can still stop in to say hi every once in awhile. The Reds are coming off a sweep in Yankee stadium so im sure they are going to get swept this weekend at Comerica.1 point

That might say as much about Leyland and Anderson as it does about the Astros front office.1 point
-
People hate A.J. Hinch because he has a psychology degree from Stanford. The nerve. Leyland didn't need no stinking college degree. He just blew smoke in players' faces while he yelled at them, and they loved it. Now that ... that was real baseball.1 point

you're doing that thing again where you overrate all the tigers prospects. put some alcohol in those dr peppers. 🙂1 point

It makes him look like an inept and powerless manager who didn't have the balls to do anything. It's probably why McKinstry stays in the lineup. Right before Hinch takes out the lineup card to the umpire, Zach simply grabs it, pencils in his name and says "like, you're going to do anything about it."1 point
-
The question I have about Hinch is he supposedly didn't want them to cheat and they cheated anyway. That makes him seem like a weak leader. And I know everybody is going to tell me there was nothing he could do about it. I understand that sentiment, but it's still difficult to see that happening to Leyland or Anderson.1 point

The recent poor performances has hurt the Maeda uniform sales #s. I was all set to purchase a few and then all this happened1 point

if youre making an argument that pitchers have to go all out to avoid giving up homeruns to everyone in the lineup, doing so in a forum with folks who have to watch the 2024 tigers bat may not be the most receptive audience.1 point

Have you ever looked at ball players as utility players rather than one position or another for your rankings? Just kind of curious what that list would be. I'm thinking Tettleton would make the list. But then how would one define the parameters of a utility player rather than an IF or an OF or a C? Kind of fun to think that two of those better players in franchise history were on the same team for a few seasons.1 point

we probably don't right now. But the attitude that we have to endure Maeda as some sort of penance for spending is not great. I understand not being able to do anything with Baez. But once they have options, having Maeda pitch is a waste of time..similar to Canha, Urshela, and McKinstry in the lineup. It's more about winding out the clock on his deal...not competing or winning. He'll either be DFA now or at the end of spring training next year.1 point

Big defeat for Brit Tories. Labour projected to take a 170 seat majority in the House of Commons. I'll take the over on Britain being back in the EU before the Tories win another national election.1 point

I agree with that, but a Brad Holmes wouldnt keep a guy like Maeda on, even if he signed him for a couple years for millions...Brad would admit his mistake, and move on asap. Scott...well, seems some ppl just want to make excuses for him when he does bad GM-ing 🤷♂️1 point

Looking at game logs, he’s gotten into the 6th inning two times in his last 10 starts. I’m not sure he can eat innings.1 point

Nope. He's a below average defender at both second and third. Same as Keith. Both have to hit a bunch or they are of little big league value.1 point

Why is that your response to anyone who has anything critical about the tigers...maybe you should follow another team? And no...he never told the players to stop. And I don't see him giving back his world series ring.0 points
