Montero's made 4 starts in August and I'd say 3 of them have been good to really good. As a whole he's had a couple really rough starts but even in the ones that he gave up 5 runs in he was still able to go 6+ which isn't good by any stretch of the imagination but atleast it's one of those type of starts where you kinda give your team a chance and don't cripple your bullpen either. Basically I'm just saying in a long winded way that he has been a pleasant surprise and looks like he could be a potential back end starter going forward.4 points

I'll never forget Spring Training 2011, some dude with a duffel bag of **** to be signed trampled over some kids to try to get Verlander and Porcello's autographs, they both told him to p*ss off(maybe not the exact verbiage but something to that extent). Was great to see!3 points

I don’t think AOC is any worse at “governance” than any other congressional rep with her level of experience. I do think she is more than smart enough to embrace the realpolitik needed to carefully craft her asks to get something close to what she in her heart wants, and I also think she is smart enough to become a respected party leader at some point. I hope to live long enough to see some evidence of this.3 points

E60 at 4 pm today is on Galarraga’s non perfect game. Manfred again said no change in plans to place his name on whatever list there is. I think doing something in this case is an easy decision. There’s no butterfly effect since he got the next out. You dont have to do it in other situations.2 points

Sorry, Bert! Stay safe. If you tune into the Little League World Series on ESPN, you’ll see the Tigers players interacting with all of the kids in the stands. Baez patiently signing tons of autographs—kids are treating him like a rock star. Cool to see the interactions.2 points

I know you're joking but God help us if/when Goff has a bad game or 2 this year cause takes like this is all you're going to hear from the shock jocks and radio callers.2 points

Pet Peeve with Dickerson. He talks about pitch count way more than is needed, especially this early in the game. Once you note it, you don't have to harp on it. He gets to be a broken record.1 point

Sorry, Bert. Hope you feel better soon. I am sure you’ll enjoy watching the game as much as I will here in Jersey. I just love that they’re playing this in the Little League World Series park. It just makes it extra fun, and the kids seem so excited to meet these major league players. Thankfully, the weather seems to now be cooperating. (But I have severe t-storms & flash flood warnings every 10 minutes. 🤪😬. I’m just going to hope I don’t lose power, so I can watch the game.)1 point

ESPN just had the E60 show about Armando's perfect game. They did a very good job and the kids in college who petitioned MLB made a very good case to get Armando credit for the perfect game. While they were turned down, they made an excellent argument about how MLB wouldn't be opening a can of worms, as they claim.1 point

It would be a shame if the Yankees forfeited this game out of fear. Understandable sure, but still shameful.1 point

High praise, my man! Although in my "defense", as it were, my English scores in the Iowa and California assessments tests in grade school were way up into the 90s with my math scores. It was the science portion that I face-planted on.1 point

The funny thing is those other team's are looking at their games with the Tigers and saying the same thing that they should win most of those.1 point

If anybody here has relatives in Williamsport, we might want to get a driveway weather report from them. It’s raining.1 point

Yeah, I am not looking forward to the narrative nature of the broadcast of a New York City team playing a flyover city team in upstate New York and presented by a broadcaster located in suburban New York City. A solid Skubal win could go a long way toward shoving that back up all their butts.1 point

He doesn't seem to have a problem changing eveything else about the game. I agree.1 point

When I was a little kid in the early 60s, our Cub Scout troop went to Baer Field in Fort Wayne, Indiana where the then fastest rocket on earth, the X-15, was being showcased. And we begged the ordinary ground personnel to give us autographs and they were laughing about how silly it was, but they enjoyed doing it because we thought they were all future astronauts. It’s hard to relay now how the first astronauts truly were idolized. It was about heroism, national pride, and the idealized possible future that stood before us. It was pretty heavy stuff.1 point

No desire to watch that. It was painful enough watching it in person.1 point

Nothing to see here. Only concern might be Faedo, though he probably has a spot in the pen. And if he doesn’t earn that, it won’t be a loss to lose him.1 point

This is his final option season, but he should be eligible for a fourth option. A lot of guys will be thanks to the lost 2020 year.1 point

I think it's pretty impressive that he has done what she has politically at her age against a bunch of connected and experienced old farts. She gets a lot of attention (both negative and positive) because she is young and attractive and outspoken, but I believe she is smart.1 point

She knows more about politics than most of her colleagues, aka she raises more money then most of them. Now if she could get good at governance along with politics, that would be great.1 point

And I generally go with a “rough” 20% plus a Buck. So for example our Thai food tonight was $61. By “rough 20%” I mentally go “20% of 60 is 12, add a buck so it’s $13” and I write the bill out for $74 plus the cents.1 point

this is has been tried before in countless times and places - it won't work. But the odds are nothing significant will pass so they will never get far down that road and do too much damage. You keep prices competitive by keeping industries competitive. Fix the 2nd, the 1st takes care of itself. But that is too complex a story to tell in a campaign ad.1 point

I'm reading Verlander's contract differently. His option won't vest, but he still has a player option he would be foolish to decline.1 point

Listening to the new Ray Lamontagne album, along with Morgan Wade's new one. Both are great. Also, always listening to Sierra Ferrell. I like that lady a lot. She is from the neck of the woods where I came from and she is comfort music for me. She takes me back to my youth.1 point

it would almost certainly lead to a huge spike in fatigue induces injuries when guys can't get out of innings. Stupid idea. You don't get where you want to by just forcing the square peg into the round hole, you have to recognize that the problem is NOT the pitchers - they are giving you their all, it's the GAME. Pitchers will go deeper when you change the game to reduce the stress on them, not by increasing it. Idiotic suggestion. If you actually want to use fewer pitchers but are unwilling to fix the game, then adopt the ST rule, let a pitcher sit down after 25-30 pitches in an inning and then come back into the game next inning.1 point

I am eager to see an outfield of Meadows, Greene, and Clark. I've always wanted speedy, rangey, athletes in that OF. Its just never come to pass. I suppose that there is downfall to that trio as far as arm strength and maybe it won't be the strongest offensively in terms of HR. But that offense could be offset on the basepaths and with the defense.1 point

I was a kid and asked Gibson for an autograph and he actually signed. Surprised after hearing stories about him later. When Stafford was the QB for Detroit, he was at a Pistons game and these two kids went up to him and asked for an autograph, he was getting ready to sign when his boss interrupted and told the kids to get lost. He meekly shook his head no to the kids as Kelly gloated over the kids. Just another reason I dislike her.0 points

Me at the clinic an hour ago…. Well, I’m definitely not going anywhere today so I’ll be listening to this game on the radio. Tested positive. Relatively mild, only tired with a raw throat, but the whole family seems to have it. Pasta is the super spreader event. They’re giving me PAXLOVID™ so at least I won’t be communicative in 24 hours. GO TIGERS! It would be ideal if there were some inside the park home runs tonight. It would seem appropriate.0 points
