Honestly, I don’t understand why all the owners think Rob Manfred is such a genius when it comes to running the Game. He’s about to lead Baseball into a lake of fire of its own making over Pete Rose. He completely undermined the value of their property by selling games to Apple+ and Roku for peanuts, causing ESPN to cut their half-a-billion tie to them. (I expect they will come back at a drastically-reduced price.) And now they’ve got two of their major league teams playing in garbage minor-league parks for the next who knows how many years. And this is on top of a thousand little indignities they subject their fans to over issues of soaring ticket and concession prices to watch games, telecast access to games, general treatment at ballparks, and the like. Why the **** are owners letting him destroy their game? I never imagined I’d ever say anything like this, but Rob Manfred is no Bud Selig.5 points

On March 7, 1969 during Apollo 9, the first manned flight of a Lunar Module took place. After a few days docked in earth orbit, Spider, separated from the command module and for the first time Astronauts flew in a spacecraft that could not get them home. The photo shows them after separation. This mission is overlooked because they didn't go to the moon but they tested nearly everything required for moon landing. The first testing of the PLSS backpacks that they would wear on the moon. The first docking/undocking/redocking of a LM to the CSM. Testing of the descent/ascent engines of a LM. Being able to maneuver to different orbits depending on who needed to be the passive or aggressor in a docking operation. One very important test that took place wouldn't be utilizeed again until 4 missions later for Apollo 13. They tested the ability to maneuver the joint spacecrafts using only the LM engines, something later used to save Apollo 13. Contingencies. You never know when you will need them.3 points

I do unfortunately think you're right. It's frustrating that so many people think it's inconvenient to learn to treat people with consideration and respect regardless of background, but here we are.2 points

She ran on bringing down housing costs. She had a plan to provide down payment assistance and build millions of new housing. She ran on expanding Medicaid to cover the sandwich generation. She also ran on holding price gougers accountable. She didn't just run on not Trump.2 points

You are correct on Harris, she only ran on 'she's not Trump', which was good enough for me, but not enough. Overall the pendulum swung way left within our electorate on DEI, which folks on both sides recognizing it went too far. That said, the Dem party expressed no concerns and openly endorsed DEI with no faults. They ignored news that identified concerns regarding DEI overload and blew off concerns. And in true political form, the side that recognized the pendulum was way off, used it to their advantage and no longer cares about evening out that pendulum, they are swaying it as far as they can the other way, potentially wiping out many good aspects of DEI. In the end there is always going to be a balance between appeasing the far end of your party and trying to make sure they turn out and vote for you, and also keeping a message out that invites independents to vote for you as well. The GOP, for all the faults of Trump, their far right will vote for him regardless. They don't have the problem the Dem party has with their far left.2 points

The GOP stance of Marie Antoinette-ing us is really something. A bunch of billionaires telling us we are going to feel pain.2 points

Unfortunately, Mrazek is signed through next year with a $4.25 cap hit. Talbot is signed for $2.5. Takes up a potential spot for Cossa next year too. Making matters worse they just said on 97.1 that Mrazek has been statistically the worst goalie in the league since Decemeber . Thats not confirmed though.1 point

Do you want Detroit to win the next 5 championships or never wear teal again? I would take the titles but I would have to think on it a few.1 point

I think Indiana might be the slightly better team. But Milwaukee has something they dont and that is two guys who can win a series by themselves. Worse, as good as Ausar is on defense, Dame and Giannis are very difficult assignments for him. And who guards the one Thompson doesn't guard? The Bucks are a bad matchup for us IMO.1 point

Not arguing against you either, but I could see Baseball and/or John Fisher going all in on physical betting structure at their new stadium. The one American sport with the worst betting scandal in history going all the way to the other extreme seems kind of on-brand for me with this leadership.1 point

believe it or not there's no physical betting infrastructure at T Mobile Arena where the Golden Knights play, even though the NHL has an offical betting partner. Of course you can use the apps, just like you can at any baseball game today. But no slot machines there like there are at the airport and a random Denny's. I'm not really arguing or disputing your points here... just thinking out loud as I type. Back in 2018 we went there in March for something work related and looked into hockey tickets. Sold out and resale market very expensive.1 point

Maybe I wasn’t paying close enough attention, but I do not get the sense that Democratic candidates were constantly telling people that they are racist or misigonyst because they don't agree with every liberal idea about race and gender. In fact, I’m struggling to recall any examples of Harris doing so during her campaign.1 point

web based email clients that try to make your inbox smarter. I quit using gmail for that reason. Yahoo just forced their upgraded client to me after resisting. I don't want all these colors and icons and whatever. Just give me everything in one spot and make it easy for me to delete them. Quit trying to categorize them. It's just yahoo. I'm not working on anything. All I want is that one message I came in there for and let me get rid of all the crap. I swear they make it harder for you to select the message to delete and try to trick you into opening it first. "No, you have to click here, in this very precise location to select it. Otherwise we're opning it for you to see the next ad we threw on the page"1 point

It wasn't that they went too far, but they got way too preachy about it. Constantly telling people that they are racist or misigonyst because they don't agree with every liberal idea about race and gender is not a good way to win elections. As far as actual actions though, there has never been a time when females or non-whites had an advantages over white males. White males have always had the advantage all things considered.1 point

he's a good run defender and Anzalone isn't getting younger. They also released Reeves-Maybin and I'm not sure when Rodriguez will be back, so they needed depth. It's more than I expected but I'm not upset.1 point

I'm not so sure on that though.... Casinos want you in the Casino. Not away for 4 hours. And gamblers may not want it. But if they do a lot of day games it could be a nice break for people in the Vegas summers. I enjoy going there, I don't gamble, but I'm not sure I would go to a game. I can do that at home. I'm weird like that. I've been to minor league games when on vacation but those are more lowkey and casual. When we travel I don't want to go to an MLB game. I'd rather go see something else.1 point

Just skimmed it real fast and it looks like a decent argument. My one critique would be that All NBA is now positionless. Not sure it changes anything, but you can't just compare Cade to guards.1 point

It is strange that Manfred and MLB are getting such a pass on having two orphan teams, That is such an unprecedented failure. I guess it just means that it's official that no-one really cares about the fan in the stands. As long as there is a TV contract the owners would be happy to play their games in a shoebox. I look for the next generation of stadia to have even fewer seats then this current generation, which had fewer seats than the ballparks they replaced, and the generation after this is like to be just a couple of rings of luxury boxes with AI crowd noise. As per the story above they are planning the ballpark in Vegas with essentially no parking. And did it say the site was 7 acres? A baseball field is 4 before you even get to the stands.1 point

https://abc7news.com/post/what-rays-moving-minor-league-ballparks-means-mlb/15983208/ This is a pretty good article about the Athletics and the Rays playing in minor-league ball parks and the political and financial issues revolving around these two teams and its relation to MLB in general. It’s actually a fairly long article and a good read.1 point

What he really means is he wouldn't help any of them which he has proven with Ukraine. Projection as usual. That's the thing with narcissists. Once you know what they are, they are so predictable. Your country is going to get so screwed in any negotiation because all they have to do is offer something shiny that makes Trump look good or strokes his ego and it's an immediate yes without checking any of the fine print.1 point
