He'd thrown 50 pitches since Tues/Wed. Two days off not a bad idea.4 points

Did you know that the Toronto pitcher's last name was the same as the Tigers catcher's first name - that he doesn't use, and that the pitcher doesn't use his first name either, even thought that name is no connection to anything else?3 points

Well, that sucks. At least Kirk couldn’t waddle all the way to second on that.2 points

Petry wears on my ears. Nothing wrong with what he says but to me his voice is just tiring to listen to for two hours. And when he get wound up he shifts into "verbal diarrhea" mode were he just starts filling every single second and I find that doublyfatiguing. When he goes there it's worse than Dirks and Benetti in terms lacking any restful silence.2 points

I always liked Austin Jackson as a player, and I’m sure that he’s a swell human being as well. Kind to his wife, good to his kids, loves kittens and puppies, all that. But as far as that podcast, Tigers Territory, is concerned, the value he adds as a third wheel is exactly zero. He provides no insights at all from a player’s perspective. Everything he says on that pod is the same overview from 40,000 feet that you can hear from a guy in a bar. Arguably worse, he never mentions any specifics about players or games or performances. It’s like he doesn’t do any homework at all, maybe not even watching the games themselves. Every time he speaks, it’s four solid minutes of clichés and generalizations. I feel less knowledgeable about the Tigers when he’s through talking. I acknowledge that as an ex-Tiger he will always be lionized on his pedestal by Kieran and Cody on the pod, but man, is it ever a slog to have to listen to him talk.2 points

The promotion of this rivalry series on the broadcast is nauseating. This isn't college football. In baseball, you grind it out for 162 games. Stop forcing rivalries. Just let it happen.2 points

I get that we have a baserunning philosophy, but maybe we suspend it for Torres.1 point

Would like to see a double play to make up for that 12 pitch leadoff at bat1 point

I like the Benetti/Petry and Dickerson/Dirks combos. Proper blends of humor and actual game focus.1 point

Famous baseball twitter and youtube account "Pitching Ninja" nicknamed him "The Babyface Assassin" due to that face.1 point

I'm pretty happy that Harris didn't sign Santander this offseason.1 point

I remember when I was a little kid, just after the 1969 expansion. I was knocked out by the idea of a team in Montreal, a French-speaking city. That was, in fact, the one thing that got me interested in learning French. One day my family went over to Windsor for a picnic or something. I met a local kid who confirmed he was. I asked him if he was an Expos fan, because, you know, Canada. He looked at me like I was an alien (which, in today’s terms, I guess I was). I’m a Tigers fan, he replied in a what-the-hells-wrong-with-you tone. I replay that scene in my head occasionally.1 point

Eric Lauer, a former first round Padres pick and a lefty, will be starting for Toronto today. He was most recently a starter in the International League and has been in three relief appearances so far this year for the Blue Jays. I don’t think this is pitching chaos. His nickname according to BR is Gomer. He’s definitely not a “rookie“ but most of our guys have never “seen his stuff.“1 point

It's a gimmick. Free fries and sell $15 worth of other food. Arby's made money on that deal. 🤣🤣1 point
-
Man, Arby’s must be getting their clocks cleaned this year on their Instant 3 Play promotion, where they give free curly fries to everyone who comes in the Arby’s whenever the Tiger score 3 runs. Next year they’re going to have to change it to Instant 4 Play.1 point

A case could be made that Javy is doing as well as he is because he’s finally happy with where he’s playing. If he’s forced to move to third base, he might become unhappy, and as all of us know now, an unhappy Javy is an unproductive Javy.1 point

On the rehab front it's all good. Vierling in CF for the Hens, had a hit, Jake 2/4. Wenceel went 2/4 with a double and McGonigle had a hit.1 point

Javy is going to volunteer to go to 3rd with Parker comes back, because that's Javy.1 point

The Blue Jays main TV announcer has that classic low announcer voice with elongated vowels. I feel like I’ve gone back in time. It’s kind of comforting. It makes me want to break out a can of Stroh's in the old classic gold and white with black accents motif. The first beer that ever touched these lips.1 point

The Blue Jays announcers are making the point that the Tigers are not stealing many bases, but they’re one of the best base running teams in baseball in terms of going from station to station.1 point

The biggest difference between teams in terms of income is local TV deals, the Dodgers get nearly 250 million a year for theirs while a team like the Tigers is like a quarter of that. Even if you want to throw out the Dodgers as an anomaly the difference between some teams and others is still 50 to 100 million dollars with some cases even higher. That's 2-4 high priced free agents difference right there. It will never happen but if they were to pool up all the regional deals and split them evenly between teams then things would be alot different.1 point

I have 3 that sit next to me and have for over 10 years now. There's a lot of them. Even beyond WIndsor.1 point

Just under 20% of the cap, so sounds about right. If he plays like he did the last half of the season, that might actually be a team friendly deal. Curious to see if he can get it without any teams having cap space he can use as leverage.1 point
