I’m in Victoria, BC now and while my wife and I were having afternoon tea at the Empress I stopped in at a pub a few blocks away. Bartender had the game on and was wearing a Tigers cap with the orange English D. I asked him if he was a Tigers fan or just liked the hat. He replied adamantly that he is a Tigers fan, originally from Windsor. We agreed that the Tigers really need the win tonight but fortunately in Skubal we both trust. A shared moment thousands of miles away from Comerica.6 points

Good news is that at 36 pitches through 3 innings, we’re on pace to run Skenes after the 9th.1 point

Great, actually. No one can take away the joy and excitement of 4 Cup triumphs over a 12-year span. Give me 2 World Series and 2 Super Bowls over the next decade. That will take me to 68 years old. Both the Tigers and Lions can suck for the rest of my lifetime after that. Would make that deal in a heartbeat.1 point

The secret to beating Pittsburgh when Skenes pitches is to make him throw a lot of pitches and then beat up on the Pirates bullpen. Pittsburgh may be 22 games under .500 but they're actually 2 games over .500 at home. A kinda strange stat...1 point

It’s all this, plus another aspect is that he is still working his ass off to get better so he can pitch. I can imagine the idea that players coming back from injury work have to harder at their job than healthy players on active rosters typically do.1 point

I'm totally fine with trading him this off season for a teams top two prospects and some throw ins. Especially if one is a top 5 pitcher. If the Phillies offer Painter, Crawford and Abel for Skubal, you do it. Skubal may be the best pitcher. But if he gives up 2 ER a game (on average) and Painter gives up 2ER or 3 ER, and you save 30 million a season for five years that you can use to produce more WAR for another position player, you do it. You win more in the long run. Its EXTREMELY rare for a pitcher to pitch Cy young worthy after the age of 34..... Lets get a 22 year old to anchor our rotation, a LF to solidify our OF and a #3-4 starter to help Mize, Jobe and Hamm going forward. If Harris lets Skubal walk for a draft pick, it will be a catastrophe just like the Angels letting Ohtani walk.1 point

From a guy that thinks it is insane and crazy that Biden was allowed to hide from the American people so his decline wasn't seen even though I would have still preferred him over Trump....**** you Hunter. He needs to shut the hell up, he's a major reason Biden didn't win too and ultimately that was his own fault. Clooney simply pointed out what was becoming evident to some and the Biden family wanted to keep that hidden from the electorate.1 point

Yup. There is hope for Lange. He seems to have his pitching under control, if he can stay healthy. Manning is just....who knows? When he first went to relief he seemed to have a few good outings - good FB velo, but then he just falls back again.1 point

Yes, we are. Zero moral authority to tell anyone anywhere how to treat others. This is what the "Christians" wanted.1 point

Paramount owns the Ed Sullivan Theatre, so they are probably charging themselves some exorbitant rent for the Late Show; that helps to show a "loss" on paper1 point

Bad as that losing streak was - The Tigers still have the best record in baseball - In the last 20 games the Twins gained 1 game - In the last 20 games the Guardians lost 2 games - In the last 20 games they were even with the Royals on the down side - The Astros gained one game in the last 20 - The Blue Jays gained SIX on the Tigers1 point

I sliced my thumb in third inning. Blood everywhere. So I guess when the Tigers win tonight, I'll have to slice my thump every game? 😆1 point

After next inning... It's getting REALLY close to reliever time... Could we get a Bert please?1 point

If a stream of curses emits from yours, or mine, mouths... At an EXTREMELY high decibel level... But no one is close enough to hear anything... Did either of us actually curse?1 point

I do not think losing Skubal will stop this organization from excelling. The question comes down to is an additional year of Skubal on a potentially championship level team plus a competitive draft pick worth as much as the assets acquired in trade.1 point

I don't think MAGA will turn on him because they suddenly discover he is a creep. They will turn on him because he isn't delivering the goods on the deep state conspiracy. Trump was supposed to save America by exposing the deep state and now he's telling them to move on. This is their whole belief system. They are beginning to wonder if he is part of the deep state. The dog finally caught the car.1 point
