“Just enjoy life and get out more and don’t be so angry” = “just lay back and enjoy it”. What you’d expect from an Epstein sympathizer.7 points

I found myself watching the Olympics on the Canadian feed today. I got sucked into the Snowboard Big Air competition. They showed every single jump in order but skipped the US rider. The announcers were on camera talking about other parts of the competition and they never showed his jump and didn’t even talk about it afterwards. I thought it was a bit weird but then it happened again in the 2nd round. Everyone but the US got shown. This time he had a great jump and moved into 3rd place. They never showed a reply and the announcers acted a little confused describing the standings. It was obvious this was on purpose. I think they plan on ignoring and not showing as much of the US as they can to Canadian viewers. This is what it’s come to and I don’t blame them one bit.4 points

You're either insane or delusional. Maybe a bit of both? EDIT: Or maybe I am? Because I really just can't wrap my head around the fact that this country has so many ignorant, hateful, vile idiots living inside its borders. They are way more dangerous than any illegal immigrant. I mean, they continue to support a guy that routinely visited an island where children were raped. But they go "all guilty except Trump" and turn on Fox "news" to feed their outrage.3 points

Saddest part of all is that they are most likely happy that they're hurting people-especially 'libruls.' I have to say I'm not convinced that karma exists. I also have to admit I hope it does.2 points

This is one of those things that in order for us to maintain the type of country we want, we will have to work hard for the rest of our lives. And anger is a good thing if it motivates us to try to make things better for others. Does this mean we can't have any fun? Of course not. It just means, as one of my favorite passages says, that to everything there is a season.2 points

if Dems get back into control they need to either impeach the RW of the SC or pack it to out vote them. It's as you say, you can't play Marquis of Queensbury rules against a bunch of guys trying to kick you in the nuts. Gloves have to come off, just like the Allies had to do in WWII.2 points

We won't. Dems may not be allowed to ever win again if the SC goes along with the Orange Pedo Turd's plans. If Dems ever do win again, they will repeat Biden's mistake, and fail to round up all the MAGA trash up and throw them all in jail. "I want to work with them" "I want to reach across the aisle" "We are all in this together" F*** that s***. These people are out to destroy the country. And now that they have gotten a taste for it, it is never going away. Never. The power, the racism, the grifting - it is simply too intoxicating to them to let go. I compare this current state of affairs to the Sandy Hook shooting. Little kids were gunned downed en masse, and as a country we did .... absolutely nothing. Now, non-whites are being terrorized en masse, and as a country we did .... absolutely nothing. 1/3 of the country supports it. 1/3 is fighting it. But the other 1/3 is on their phone as the country burns down around them. This is just not a serious country. Everything is memes and hot takes, distracting us from the overlords amassing unlimited power and wealth in plain sight. The country will continue for a good long while, for as long as billionaires have something to extract from the dying husk of the country. But The United States of America is over.2 points

I don't know that Trump wants the Post to shut down, necessarily. I think he just wants to make sure that the local paper is on board with him. He can't have a major journalistic institution taking potshots at him from his own backyard. As for serious reform of media ownership, the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine was the "Big Bang" of media deregulation ("television is just another appliance—it’s a toaster with pictures"), which led to The Telecommunications Act of 1996, the most significant ownership loosening in history. We had those rules for a reason. Now we can clearly see what those reasons were.2 points

It's almost like we're being forced to be cynical. Our country needs Republicans to put country above party. They're ALL going to lose their cush jobs anyway, voted out in landslides. They may as well burn down this corrupt administration on their way out. Save democracy.1 point

when the rules have gone down the tubes allowing a bad minority to control things, at some point the majority tosses the rules, cleans out the game and resets the rules. That's the way every society that succeeds long term rejuvenates itself after a period of decay and stagnation. And if you are worried the society doesn't have the majority to do it, your society is already ****ed beyond saving anyway and it's time to save up to move.1 point

Well said. Hillary and Kamala both conceded when it became apparent they didn't have a path to victory. Trump didn't, he incited an insurrection and was never brought up on charges. He should have been in prison by 2023 instead of running for president. But even though i'm a rational, non-conspiracy theorist, I still say Trump and Musk found a way to cheat. Mostly Musk because Trump is as stupid as a bag of rocks. Kamala conceded to quickly, IMO. There's no way Trump won all the swing states fairly.1 point

Is Quisling telling the Norwegian partisans to stop bothering to interrupt the heavy water shipment and to ski instead? Is General Jaruzelski telling the Solidarity protestors to just give their movement up and concentrate on shipbuilding instead? Its a lot easier for the opportunists to take advantage of people if they are somnolent.1 point

We will overcome it. Humans have always progressed or we would still be in caves. When we were in caves, it paid to hate others because they likely would kill you and steal your stuff. That's a very stressful way to live. The other extreme is to care about everything which is also a stressful way to live. The world is chaos and we really don't have much control so caring about the environment, people, animals, etc. can get overwhelming. I think most people are somewhere in the middle and that's what we should strive for. It helps address issues without extremes one way or another. That approach gave us women's rights and equal rights along with many other benefits. We saw in WW2 extremes are very bad. Now we are seeing the effects of extreme wealth and I think it would be a mistake to over correct. We do need to reestablish truth and justice though. Do Trump and his friends really want to live in a no holds barred world? They are not the brightest or strongest. They are the most privileged class in history.1 point

And that's another reason I don't root for ex-Tigers on other teams. Big league baseball players are not my friends or family members. They are merely employees of an organization for whom I root to win games on the field. I know zero about most players personally. As such, I don't know what true colors they are going to reveal once they go to another team, but even if they do, that's not going to change what I feel about them personally, because I feel nothing about them personally, if that makes any sense. When I root for a player on my team, I am rooting only for his effect on the team, not for the player personally. So if he does something objectionable as a Tiger, for example, keeping a second family, it doesn't affect how I root for him, because I'd been rooting only for his output, anyway. Would I rather have a good guy playing for my team than a bad guy? To the degree that it matters, which is minute, sure, why not. But that's only a nice-to-have, not a must-have. Beyond that, I have no personal stake in what kind of people these guys are off the field. This is why I don't root for ex-Tigers on other teams. Because he's not a friend or family member, when he engages in something on another team like "bang a gong", I feel no betrayal or disappointment. He's someone else's problem now. Flip side, if he wins a Cy Young and a ring, I feel no joy, because he had to beat my team in order to get there.1 point

AWS and Blue Origins contracts with the federal government were the most important things that needed to survive the Trump presidency. If destroying the WaPo is the cost of that, well Bezos did what he needed to do. We need a new media and we need serious reform of media ownership.1 point

The problem is that Trump doesn't know that during the most serious national emergencies in this country's history, (The Civil War, WWII) congressional elections were held as normal. He won't know that because Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon will tell him whatever they need to tell him to get what they want.1 point

For what it's worth, I was playing with Gemini tonight. Asked it about expected roster and to assume McGonigle made the team out of spring training, what should we expect this year? ----------------------- If Kevin McGonigle breaks camp with the team and performs to his projections, the Detroit Tigers move from "wild card contenders" to 90-plus win territory and the clear favorites to win the AL Central. Here is the statistical breakdown of what that record looks like and why: The Win Total Projections Current consensus projections (like FanGraphs and ZiPS) have the Tigers as an 87-75 team as currently constructed. However, those projections often "hedge" on rookies, assuming they start the year in Triple-A. The "McGonigle Bump": ZiPS projects McGonigle to produce 2.3 fWAR in only 399 plate appearances. If he plays a full season (550+ PAs), that value jumps to nearly 3.5–4.0 wins. The Expected Record: With McGonigle stabilizing shortstop, a 90–72 or 91–71 record becomes the new baseline. This would likely be enough to win the AL Central, as the Guardians are currently projected for 88 wins. Why He Specifically Changes the Record A "record" isn't just about total talent; it's about fixing specific weaknesses. McGonigle addresses the two biggest holes that cost the Tigers games in 2025: The Problem The McGonigle Solution Impact on Wins High Strikeout Rates: The 2025 lineup was 24th in MLB in K%. McGonigle's projected 12.8% strikeout rate would be the lowest on the team. Fewer wasted innings; more "productive outs." Shortstop Defensive Volatility: In 2025, Tigers SS combined for only 1.4 fWAR (24th in MLB). If he provides even league-average defense with his elite bat, he’s a massive upgrade. Saves runs in tight, 1-run games. The "Skubal Run Support": Skubal lost several games in 2025 despite giving up 2 runs or fewer. A high-OBP bat in front of Greene and Torkelson ensures the Ace gets the wins he deserves. Directly turns 3-4 "Tough Luck" losses into wins. The "Rookie of the Year" Factor There is a massive hidden benefit to him making the team: The Prospect Promotion Incentive (PPI). If McGonigle is on the Opening Day roster and wins AL Rookie of the Year (which he is currently the +350 favorite to do), the Tigers receive an extra first-round draft pick. This incentivizes the front office to be aggressive at the trade deadline because they know they have "extra" draft capital coming in. The Risk Factor The only reason the record wouldn't improve is the "Torkelson Effect"—if a young player is rushed and struggles with major-league breaking balls, it can create a "black hole" in the lineup for a month or two. However, scouts categorize McGonigle's 70-grade hit tool as "big-league ready" right now. The Verdict: If McGonigle is at Shortstop on Opening Day, expect a 90-win season and a legitimate chase for the #1 or #2 seed in the American League. Would you like me to look at the Tigers' schedule to see which teams McGonigle's contact-heavy style would match up best against in April?1 point

THANK you. I've been saying for years that I don't understand rooting for ex-Tigers playing for other teams. I promise you they feel nothing for us once they leave. Plus, now they're trying to make us lose!1 point

This would be the smart move. I'd take the guaranteed extra year of control over the possibility of getting a draft pick any day. It gains you a lot more playing time when he should be playing really well while losing less playing time when he is still developing.1 point

I had stopped the steroid (Dexamethasone) drops in my ear the Wednesday before last when I ran out and saw that improvement on Thursday when I did the hearing test. They gave me another 10-day supply and I re-started Thursday and then last night and this morning I am getting a fair amount of fuzzy hearing in the left ear. So much so it's actually a little distracting while listening to music and I kind of need to plug my ear a bit because I have a show to put together for Sunday evening. This is the most significant hearing I've had since 12/26. Not really functional, but it's there. Going to a chiropractor next week. I have read about dozens of cases where issues like mine were greatly or completely resolved with a few adjustments. Still don't know exactly what caused all this. Some sort of virus is the thoerry - since the steroids seem to be making a difference, unless my healing is just natural and the steroids are doing a placebo thing. Hey, whatever it is - just keep it going. If I make the progress I had in the last week I feel I could be hearing somewhat normally by Mid March. I certainly hope so because the Lemon Twigs are coming to the Blind Pig on April 27th - and I am NOT missing that.1 point
