  1. yeah I think his mind is just so quick. It reminds me of morning radio when they would do drops. He probably grew up on that stuff so it's second nature. I do the same thing, not as funny, but I could be in a work meeting and someone will say something that reminds me of a movie I love. That's where my mind goes. I don't think he has a list of funny things to say.

  2. I don’t think Benetti forces his humor. I think he’s just got the kind of mind that makes associations very quickly and is glib in a playful way. I hear him make a pun that no one picks up on and he lets it go. If he didn’t let it go, that would seem forced to me. I got the opinion that he and Dirks can be too much, and too tangential. It just doesn’t bug me much.

  3. I could see someone like Lou Whitaker not even realizing he didn't have his regular glove. "It's just a glove, man".

  4. I think the answer lies within each player. At this level everything is so precise. Our own experiences aren't really relevant any more than it would be a weekend golfer comparing themselves to a touring pro. Some might prefer another glove and others might prefer the same. It's not one answer.

  6. Jason is 42. He probably spent a bit of his younger days listening to the likes of Brandmeier, Steve Dahl, and others in Chicago media. I think he cut his teeth so to speak interning and working at the SCORE (Sports Talk). It's probably second nature to him

  8. Rumors about Rivers getting let go in Milwaukee. Make sense with a rebuild coming to go with a cheaper coach. At some point someone needs to write about Rivers being hired. Griffin was 30-13 when they fired him and Rivers finished the season 17-19.

  9. I imagine Harris and Robinson will get some rest in the final 4 games. Duren might sit out one or two of them as well. No reason to rest Daniss, Holland, Huerter or anyone else. I doubt Ausar will rest since he's trying to qualify for offseason awards. I highly doubt we'll see Cade, but I wonder about Stew. Seems like it might be good to get him a game or two to get back in the groove. Of course, playing Stew and/or Duren in the Charlotte matchup seems like a bad idea after what happened last time. We don't need any suspensions.

  10. I did some math and found that the band I have listened to the most in my life is Cheap Trick. Rick is my favorite guitarist, Bun E is my favorite drummer, Robin my favorite vocalist and Tom is tied with Gary from Rush as my favorite bassist. Once I figured all that out, I realized that they are my favorite band. I’ll see them at every opportunity. I know all the songs. I even play the air drums to “Ain’t That A Shame”. I do that part so well that a security guard at a recent show took notice and picked up a guitar pick from the ground and specifically handed it to me. 😆

  11. So the "network" that runs FanDuel will be gone... I assume that DSN will take over that 'slot' on cable/satellite systems? Will the Pistons integrate into DSN? Or will they do their own thing? The entertainment entities between the Gores and Ilitch company merged into the 313Presents, which used to be Olympia and Palace Sports and Entertainment. So there is precedent to them merging some things and obviously they share LCA. Granted you have statues of the Red Wings and the Giant Steve Yzemran picture holding the cup so one would be forgiven to thinking it's a hockey arena the Pistons play in, but other than that they do have fair share of Piston props throughout the concourse. And this spring could be fun. That's gotta rub Chris Ilitch the wrong way a little bit, if the Pistons, a tenant, take over LCA. They built that big plaza out front for fans to party in for playoff games and...

  12. Recommended to the girlfriend she catches up on her TV this week before I make her a playoff widow next week. So I imagine some home improvement shows are on my viewing agenda tonight. Harris and Robinson are questionable.

  13. I have a friend who is in a tribute band, I won't say which, but because of that I've been doing that more and more. It's just as good. A fraction of the price. Very little stress. Small venues. It satisfies. I go to the Token Lounge, District 142, and a place in Flint.

  15. Right now, it's "my choice" so I can see that - getting irritated when it's not a choice. But, the few times it happens now, it hasn't been a big issue. Maybe with more games it will. I lived in Illinois for four years at the end of the 1990s (how I found the motownsports message board) and the early 2000s, so I only had the internet and the occasional game against either the White Sox or Cubs on WGN to enjoy. I pretty much never missed those games when I could help it. And that's kind of how it was as a kid. They had about 50 games on TV. It doesn't sound like a lot, that's more than 30% of the games so it wasn't like we were starved for games. But, when they were on TV, it was a big deal. You treated it special. We didn't take it "for granted." Even in 1984 with all the Game of the Weeks, the Monday Night Baseball games maybe 65 games were on TV? Seemingly, somehow many of the "highlight" games somehow ended up being a lot of those games. But I didn't feel deprived of TV games in 1984. When I am inside, I'm usually doing things and then turn around after I hear a play and watch the replay. I pay attention to the TV less than the radio actually. Well, that's not 100 percent true. With the pitch clock (the greatest thing that ever happened to baseball), I certainly focus on the game way more than I did four years ago. It's easier to watch knowing you will see a pitch about every 25 seconds. But, my attention to the radio is much better. By June I'll be out on a deck, maybe out with my parakeet and an old Sporting News folder of old newspapers and listening to the games. If they are on the west coast and the weather is nice, I may be out there in the dark until 1:30 a.m. You know what? I really enjoy the game that way. I even did this for a few playoff games. I'm not losing anything. I'll see the highlights later.

  17. I would be fine with this too, although I fully understand why others would not like it. I went through a period where I was watching all the Tigers games on TV and I enjoyed it, but I started taking it for granted. Now, watching a game on TV is nothing special and I prefer listening to the radio most nights now while I do other stuff. In the old days, I didn't get to watch as many games and being able to watch the Tigers on TV was something special to look forward to. Now, I assume they'll be on and I get irritated when they aren't on for the one night during the week when I want to watch a full game.

  18. "trimming" "certain" "healthcare programs" means gutting programs by firing anyone who is easy to let go and is also part of a demographic which MAGA doesn't like.

  19. We see Cooper, Weird Al, Godsmack, Poison, Def Leppard, Motley Crue and a few others pretty much anytime they come to the area. We are slowing down on that now because even getting tickets to see Cooper (he's still a great act but he is old) is in the $150 range. So, it's likely we won't see him after this show. And, we probably are going to drop other concerts we may have attended. We'd rather go to the UP for a weekend or something like that with our $$$.

  20. That may be true, but I think what probably rekindles interest is the team doing well. That's what brings casual fans back. For example, people loved Mario and Rod and they embraced them. But, if 2006 doesn't happen like the way it does the fan base doesn't return to make that summer the high ratings the Tigers' broadcasts were. There may be an element of what you say is true, but I'd argue it's 80% winning baseball, and now that it's happened that makes people associate them with good times and makes people probably enjoy them more. That doesn't really happen when a team goes 70-92 every season.

  21. By the way, here is how the red-pilled media are reporting the massive cuts to programs for people: Yup ... funded "partly" by "trimming" "certain" "healthcare programs". Meaning double digit cuts to "certain healthcare programs" like commerce, housing, interior, agriculture, labor, and diplomacy. Apparently we have an endless budget for death, but we simply can't afford life.

  22. For the record, I'm NOT trying to dumb on Holmes here. I think he is definitely more willing to flyers on these guys and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Generally speaking he's spending fewer assets to get them so, over all, I think it's probably work the risk. I'm just saying that I feel there's enough to a history here that a joke about a guy in the draft being more attractive to Holmes because he has an injury is on point.

  23. Just now I looked up at the moon in my backyard and for the first time in my life I can say "there's people up there". About 26,000 miles away. Netflix will be livestreaming the flyby this afternoon, starting at 1 pm EDT. They're sleeping right now, will wake up at 9:50 EDT, I wonder if they'll do something special. Charlie Duke, moonwalker on Apollo 16, woke them up the other day. He's the one who was CAPCOM on Apollo 11's landing. "We copy you down Eagle" At 1:56 they'll be further than Apollo 13's record. Around 2:15 they'll darken the cabin to prepare for photos. During this time they have assignments and they might be able to see the Apollo 12 and 14 landing sites. 6:47 they'll lose contact 7:02 is the closest approach to the moon 7:27 reacquisition of signal 8:35 a solar eclipse for them 9:20 lunar flyby ends

  24. I’m no casual fan and I love all things Bennetti. Did he really double the fan base? Unprovable but I seriously doubt it. That said, I think his videos to promote understanding of CP certainly helped win him favor and make some casual fans tune in to root for him. I do side with the opinion that winning brought the vast majority of the fan base back.

  32. I'm the opposite. It's been brutal watching since about the all star break. Didn't help the last third of the season had a horrible schedule. Even when they did play a good team one or both teams were not healthy. 18 games played in March and maybe 4 of them were decent/healthy opponents. It isn't just Detroit either. Every night is a struggle to find a good game on LP or any of the national games. The NBA regular season is the biggest joke in sports. It's basically preseason extended. Playoffs are great though.
