  1. I am surprised it was a clean sweep. I didn’t pay much attention, so it’s not an educated opinion. I’m just going along the lines of nothing ever sticks to this clown. But now what? Does this ruling really have any teeth to it?
  2. I kind of wish I’d have trademarked “President Felony Five”, “President Forty Felony”, and “Felonious Trump” (shout out Thelonious Monk). Those could make for good Tshirt and coffee mug sales.
  3. Having a good glove would certainly give him more grace while the bat is unsteady. I'm not much for younger 1B to begin with. I understand some guys just aren't going to be able to play elsewhere, and it happens. Ideally guys start higher up on the defensive scale and cascade down over the course of their career. So here we are, a situation where a young player had the perceived hitting skill set and accolades to go 1.1 and a glove that was "hidable" under those circumstances. But the bat hasn't delivered.
  4. Here is something that baffles me about the results of Torkelson's plate appearances. The BABIP is low while the hard hit % and exit velocities are above average.
  5. You think this hat sucks? Just take a look into the future.
  6. The Alsassin for short?
  7. I get that Torkelson has been frustrating so far. But comparing the start of his career numbers to another guy’s entire career numbers doesn’t seem all that useful to me.
  8. This is one of my peeves about baseball. 4.1 innings? It’s 4.33333333333333 innings. Or 4 1/3 innings. Come on, man, think of the kids in here and the habits they pick up on.
  9. I had heard on a podcast that he was sent down too recently to be recalled, per MLB rules. I don’t think this applies to demotions of 27th men from doubleheaders.
  10. That’s a heckuva day.
  11. I don’t know, I thought this was a pretty good idea. Which one of you morans dropped the ball on this?
  12. It probably is a mistranslation due to the exchange rate.
  13. Good news. This makes him available for playoff TV analysis.
  14. Tork woulda hit a home run through a brick wall for Adan Campbell.
  15. Unless you’re Nook Logan. Then you should be able the drop a bunt double before anyone knows what just happened.
  16. The hiring a sibling thing kind of bothers me from a different perspective. I am my own person, completely separate from what my siblings are. I worry the past of specifically one would adversely affect me when job hunting. So even though they are brothers, why do we assume the Coras are alike enough that Joey’s resume should be hindered by Alex’s past? That’s not fair at all.
  17. I wondered about pinch running. Greene and McKinstry were on the bench. Either could have come in to PR and be used in LF with Canha moving from LF to 1B if the game went into extras. You might be right, they might have missed that. Like I said before, I think they needed to win that inning. The pitching just wasn’t dependable enough to put up a zero with the Manfred runner.
  18. If only the pitching would’of kept Toronto to single digits, then we wouldn’t have to worry about hypotheticals and theoreticals and the spreadsheets could’of had a day off, too.
  19. I should go back and listen to that. I wonder if I botched up the terms he was using. But you’re right, probability and expectancy aren’t the same, and probability is what matters in bottom of the potentially last inning in a tie game.
  20. I don’t like it unless someone was playing back and/or off of the line. I realize he’s struggling the last week or two and they’re only in need of one run. I prefer the chance to swing away and hopefully get Torkelson over to 3rd. Obviously there’s risk of the double play and/or a runner on first with one out if he strikes out or flies out or it’s a fielder’s choice. Stavenhagen mentioned run expectancy is around 80% with a runner on 1st and none out and around 65% with a runner on 2nd and one out. I had no idea what either was in the moment. I do know that Torkelson ain’t exactly fleet of foot, so he at 2nd with one out ain’t exactly a winning situation with Cora waving anybody and everybody around 3rd. Luckily it all worked out. I really doubt their chances if that goes into extra innings. Vierling would have been the Manfred runner to start off the 10th, so that’s good. But the bullpen was too shaky to assume a clean top of the inning.
  21. I wonder, did Hinch allow his coaches to speak to the media in previous stops? Has this been his rule throughout or did he pick this up after Arizona or after Houston?
  22. Cody Stavenhagen mentioned that on his podcast which I heard this morning. I humbly and happily retract that criticism from Hinch. My guess is there was a discussion with Perez about that. I didn’t watch the game, I don’t know where the defense was. If he did that on his own, I would like to know what he saw and what he was thinking.
  23. Well, runs scored per game last season was 27th or 28th out of 30 teams. That’s bumped up to the 18th-21st range. One thing I wonder about this season is there a significant variance on a game by game basis where they are feast or famine more so than other teams? I don’t know, maybe it’s not a driver. As far as runs allowed, they were slightly below league average last season, not exactly sure the rank, but I think it was 15-17th. This season they are among gather best 5 or 6 teams so far. Today will probably ding that a bit.
  24. The wiffle ball just wasn't fluttering around too much, and the batters switched from the thinner yellow bat to the big fat red bat.
