  1. https://www.baseballprospectus.com/standings/ 75.6-86.4? 3rd place in the division? Is Keith Law working for Baseball Prospectus?
  2. Fryman? Probably wrong, but I'm on a hot streak using Fryman as an answer today.
  3. The real test will be if Malloy is at 100. Will Law publish a top 99 list then?
  4. I give this response a ten.
  5. That's interesting. He's played all of 2 professional innings as a 2B, in the 2020-2021 Dominican Winter League.
  6. I saw something recently about being a bit more scattery on throws rather than sharp shootery. I don't recall where, and honestly it was the first time I've heard/seen of that kind of comment about him, so I don't know how much stock to put into it. Arm aside, if he could handle 3B, there wouldn't be any debate about it heading into camp.
  7. Fryman was one of my wife's favorite Indi.... Clevelands.
  8. Holy heck, he took EVERY defensive pitch at 3B!
  9. He'd spent almost 2,000 minor league innings in OF and 79 at 3B. In 2022 with the Phillies, it was 756 & 42. It would have been something that needed to start in spring training.
  10. It had to have been Fryman, right?
  11. Preach. Stop worrying about uglifying the next batch of spring training hats and get to work on recalibrating the baseball to where home runs and pitching injuries are reduced.
  12. Is that possible? Are pitchers being developed to handle the workload needed, whether they are SP or RP? It seems like velocity has taken over too much and stamina takes a back seat to it. But I guess my point/question is, if that's how pitchers are handled in the amateurs/minors, how can we expect it be different in the majors?
  13. I think Malloy is more handicapped by his glove rather than where it is positioned. Or maybe its his arm. Or maybe both, I don't know. As for last season, he was at 3B from Opening Day through May 29. Then he was in LF/RF from May 31 through August 20, save for one game at 3B. Then he finished out the season at 3B. And there were some PH/DH duties in there as well. So, he was given continuous blocks of time to work at 3B then OF then 3B. He was moved around from game to game. I think it should be acknowledged that he was given game after game to work in the dirt and in the grass on a consistent basis. I don't mind the optionality, but I don't believe that it is for everybody. And I don't know that the whole team should be moving around defensively on a game to game basis. I wouldn't expect that. The catchers are going to catch. Baez at SS, Meadows (if he sticks with the big club) at CF, Torkelson at 1B. That's half of the defense right there. Greene as a COF or CF, Carpenter and Canha as COFs, however it lines up, and maybe Vierling in the OF as well. Hopefully Keith can handle 2B, and so then there's the rotating door at 3B. It's probably not going to be as fluid as last season.
  14. Well, he swings and misses.
  15. The question now becomes for whom does Ingram get designated for assignment?
  16. The injury thing is what would bother me the most right now. If he can stay healthy, he can improve on the court. It doesn't mean that he will improve if he does stay healthy, but if he can't stay healthy, improvement is less likely. That said, he's played in 40 of 49 games this season. He was likely held out of the end of last season in order to (1) protect him and (2) add ping pong balls to the lottery. So while it was a significant injury last season, there were some shenanigans with some of the DNPs.
  17. Problem is he walks a lot of guys, too, so that will need to be addressed. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=ingram000kol I imagine Maton slips through unclaimed and can show Sweet around Toledo.
  18. Did you get tipped well?
  19. Not as lackadaisical as I thought in live time, but still shouldn’t have occurred.
  20. Scottie Pippen, Jr was their high scorer.
  21. I’m tied with Vina on the all time Tiger home run list. #humblebrag
  22. The Cunningham turnover seemed terribly lackadaisical from my perspective. So, the timing of it stunk, but it was the unforced nature of it that draws my ire. And, yes, it was his only turnover. But he didn’t shoot well, he had some assists and rebounds, but the game was there for him to take over. They kept in the game until the final few minutes. It crept away from them in the 3rd, but they closed out the quarter down 3, so that was good to see. Unfortunately this season seems to be more about moral victories than anything else.
  23. Sure, ok, make it happen.
