  2. I think between occasional games off and opposing LHSPs and if the DH spot is available for Carpenter, Vierling is going to get some decent time in the OF next season. I was in favor of the Vierling experiment at 3B. Its been fine, but I just don't think he's an everyday bat for this team, and he's a better OF than 3B.
  3. I'm not sure Baddoo returns. I'd release Ibanez and call up Lipcius in his place for the rest of the season. Ibanez doesn't have a future in Detroit. I don't know if Lipcius does or not, but time is starting to tick on him. He's essentially hit a full AAA season at a 281/.371/.424 clip with a 77 BB to 106 SO ratio. Play him at 2B, see what happens. And I'd make this move outside of the 2 expanded roster spots. I would assume one of those goes to a pitcher (which I suspect might be a bit of a fluid spot) and one goes to another position player (Kreidler?).

  5. What do you mean by "we"? I'm ****ing awesome.
  6. I don't like this transaction, but it might be due to his White Sux hat on his bbref page.

  10. I thought there was a maximum of 13 pitchers on the active MLB roster?

  13. It was over 20 years ago and there was some sort of construction going on with the building when my wife and I went. But, we got there later in the day and the admission permitted us back the next day. So, we did do two days there, but an asterisk is applied. And to be quite honest, we didn't spend much time in the room with the plaques. I found that room boring and was more interested in all of the other memorabilia there. There was a replica locker with game used stuff from Trammell and Whitaker in it. There was a broadcasters area and Harwell was in it. The town was quaint. Obviously a lot of the smaller businesses are baseball related, but they are cool to wander into and check out to see their stuff. One thing we didn't do was go to see the field. Maybe it isn't a must see. But there were some older guys there dressed up in baseball gear heading down there. I suppose they had a game lined up. I don't now, maybe seeing an inning or two of an actual game while there would have added to the experience. Oh, and the pizza we had at Sal's down the street. I have no idea if it is still there or not, and even if it is, is the place the same? If we try a new pizza that's along the lines of New York type pizza (thin, foldable crust), one of us seems to mention a comparison to Sal's. So, take that for what its worth. Enjoy yourself there.
  14. I can sort of see why it was tried this season. They didn't have a regular lineup full of everyday players. So, OK, fine. But I think now they can say that they have their OF figured out for next season. I think they can feel comfortable with Greene and Carpenter everyday and at the very least go with Meadows' defense and Vierling as a RHH OF. I would say they felt comfortable only with Greene everyday and maybe Carpenter vs RHPs. Baez will be back at SS and I think they we're seeing Torkelson turn the corner with his bat. I think going into next season they've reasonably got 5 of 9 figured out. If you want to include the catching tandem at the bottom of the order, I think that's fine as ling as they aren't expected on anything more than end of the lineup production. So, 6 of 9 as opposed to the maybe 4 of 9 that they entered this season with.
  15. I called it, but since I watched it after the fact without knowing about it, I didn't post it. I didn't want to ruin it for anyone that watched it live and then forgot about it and then started reading this thread.
  16. Well, yes, but the complimentary company car makes up for it.
  17. Hey Bozo, game starts at 6:10 pm! Why MTF hasn't DFA'd this clown already, I'll never know...
  18. Maybe he wasn't that bad at picking, but the organization couldn't develop them? The problem is, if the strategy is to bottom out, then they need to do both identify and develop draft picks.
  19. Looks like the family was still there, too. Somebody, please, pass Mrs. Meadows a tissue.
  20. On the other hand, Baez has given him a lot of practice last season and earlier this season.
  21. We've all seen baseball fields where the infield is turf and the outfield is grass, right? Maybe the Tigers need to install turf around 1B for ground balls and skipped throws. I thought Torkelson had a reputation as a good fielder at 1B when he was drafted, but maybe I am just imagining that?
  22. Defense has stunk lately.
  23. I just watched the recording of this game. I had contemplated skipping it, but decided if I did, I might miss something. Some days my stubbornicity works in my favor.
