  1. I feel bad for him, but he should know the situation. It'll be a learning experience. This is the season to get this particular one out of the way.

  3. I believe the plural for that is called a “congress”.
  4. I had forgotten all about Jon Leuer. What kind of fan am I?
  5. Is it too early to complain about reliever roulette?
  6. I think his rookie season is a combination failure to meet lofty (unfair?) expectations with a bit of bad luck thrown on top. It was a tough season, but I'm still optimistic about his future.
  7. The sun is 2 for 2 with 2 doubles that bounce off of the warning track and over the wall whilst OFs shield their eyes so far today.
  8. For the record, I thought his acquisition was fine, although I preferred 4 seasons with a maximum of 5 (maybe as a vesting option) as opposed to a maximum of 6. The salary seemed fine. His offense and defense in 2022 were not what was expected, I think we can all agree upon that. One thing that strikes me is that his hard hit rate was 38.4% vs a career of 43.7% and a ground ball rate of 50.6% vs a career of 47.0%. Both are among his worst seasons. A look at some other ratios suggest that he was beating the ball into the earth when he made contact, not getting quite the angle necessary for line drives. Given the overall team malaise offensively, I'd guess he fell victim to that, or was a symptom of an overall problem. A change in hitting coaches may or may not help. And how that offense might manifest itself defensively (and who knows, it could have been defense affecting offense, or either driving both), I'm not sure. But going back to my original response, I'm not sure why anybody expected him to be traded. coming off of his 2022. Who is trading for him and what kind of deal is it?
  9. I prefer "Field of LXVIII", but that's just me.

  12. Not a good day for the Tiger baseball throwers. Not a good day for the Tiger bat swingers.
  13. Lefty/Righty PF/C combos are the new exploitable inefficiency.
  14. I forgot where you are. I understand now.
  15. Who is playing defense?
  16. What do you define as decent? A dinner for 4 at $150 seems pretty expensive to me.
  17. I think it's worth noting that Schoop started at 3B. He was replaced by Malloy.
  18. There was a good stretch of the game where they were down by 20. I turned it off after the 3rd. Happened to see it got whittled down to 5 before losing by 11. I don't want to minimize this game as a lot of garbage time. There's a lot of work to do defensively. But I think this trade could turn into a steal for Detroit. Shot chart: For what it's worth, Bagley's was pretty much the same:
  19. Thinking about a trip to Boston and Portland this summer. The aquarium would probably be on our list.
  20. We need to keep you entertained.

  22. Yes, this. I find it so much tougher to multitask while watching basketball and hockey. The ebb and flow of baseball just lends itself to multitasking so much easier.
  23. Oh, sure, there is a point where the tension and emotion wears off in between pitches. 90 seconds seems an exaggeration. Is 15 or 20 seconds right for that? I don't know, it could be. Quite honestly I've never timed it or thought about it. But we'll find out. I think its tough to compare baseball to basketball and hockey because of the orderliness of offense and defense. Baseball has the half innings where teams trade "possessions" to score. Basketball and hockey are very different in nature there. There's always a threat of the defense to quickly turn into offense and a score. But I do see what you are saying about a 24 second vs 35 second shot clock.
  24. The pitch clock could have some unfortunate effects late in close games. There's the thrill of tension and amplification of that emotion could be lost due to the pitch clock. Its probably an unfortunate byproduct that we'll just have to live with.
