  1. Maybe the kid just needs glasses?
  2. I think McKinstry on the roster is first and foremost due to his versatility rather than his bat. I don't know much about him, hopefully is defensively better than CastroH was. But with a roster including Cabrera (who can't play defense) and Carpenter (who plays below average defense), the versatility is necessary. I know to some, Hinch moving guys around the diamond during spring training seemed like a joke. But it was wise. He was looking forward to what he would possibly need to deal with on a game by game basis.
  3. So maybe the rationale is a combination of these two comments? Baddoo may be better overall future value, but is still quite raw and still needs to be in an atmosphere to learn more conducive to learning, including hitting against LHPs. Carpenter is probably closer to being what he can be, and so there's not much more he'll be able to pick up with extra seasoning. The present value of the two might be up for debate, but one has higher ceiling with more tools to work on while the other is pretty much what he will be. Or maybe its as simple as Carpenter's bat is more valuable/consistent for a team that needs it.

  5. That's what I had in my bracket (that I forgot to send in).
  6. Looking to be 60 & damp on Friday. We will be under an overhang, so we should be fine there. We didn't make it to a Fightin' Mortimers game last season and this is our first Fish game of this season. I need a generic "Toledo" sweatshirt to attire myself for both events.
  7. Thank you. 5 times seems like a lot to be optioned back and forth. The split of 10/15 is new, is it not? I think that was one standard number for both pitchers & position players, although maybe not necessarily 10. I want to say the injury replacement footnote was there as well. What about minor league (specifically AAA) roster sizes? I think the roster size was uncapped but there was an active roster maximum per game that was used last season. So an active roster with a reserve roster. I ask this because I would think it could be used as a tool for possible injury replacement on the MLB roster. Just as an example, say Baez gets dinged up in Tampa an IL stint is possible but not affirmed. Let's say one of Short/Kreidler is the only bench IF. Do the Tigers pull the other of Kreidler/Short down to Tampa without activating him and Toledo lists him as inactive?
  8. Tickets have been acquired for the March 31 doubleheader. I can not wait. I've never been to a Mud Hens' opener and I've never done the baseball/hockey doubleheader.
  9. The earlier consistent ABs probably makes sense. He will be in Detroit at some point this season, either due to injury to an IF or when Schoop is eventually traded/released. I suppose its possible Short might be above Kreidler on that pecking order, so there is that slight caveat. I guess as far as bench depth goes, if the Tigers are comfortable with Vierling at 3B, Maton as a backup middle IF along with another middle IF on the roster not named Baez or Schoop probably works for now. I forget, weren't there some changes made to rules regarding shuffling back and forth between the majors and minors? I would like to say that there might be a pretty good amount of fluidity with a few bench and pitching slots, but I thought I had heard some of the rules might be a bit more of an obstacle to that.

  11. I think you have the quartet correctly identified. And if you look closely, you can see a hot dog barely sticking out of Gates' jersey top.
  12. Correct as far as the lottery ping pong balls. But if they fall out of the top 3, then the records have an impact, whether they fall to 4 or 5 or 6 or 7 (if they happen to tie with Charlotte at 3 and all 4 teams in the snippet fall out of the ping pong draw party.
  13. I guess we have different opinions of "casual", but I know what you are saying.
  14. With last night's loss, Detroit is assured of finishing no lower than tied for 3rd with Charlotte. That two games difference between Detroit and Houston is huge for Detroit because they still have a game to play between each other (next Friday, getchya popcorn ready).

  16. Now that's a roster I want to see. 😁
  17. The problem is I was done swimming, but they kept trying to push me off of the beach and into the water.
  18. Maybe they'll have interest in a former MVP level 1Bdude on a final season contract?
  19. Nobody cares, but I'm going to tell you anyways. The official 2022 Casimir family summer vacation rolled through Toronto. The home base was right next door to the Scotiabank Arena and had a view of the Rogers Centre & CN Tower. Also went to Toronto Island whilst in town. Nice place. But the nudey beach is just a bit too close to the regular beach.

  22. No team strolls into Clearwater, drops in a lineup all willy nilly, and jacks dongs off of Bailey Falter. That just doesn’t happen.
  23. Well, Cabrera is blocking more qualified baseball players. That's just simply the truth once you strip away the emotion of what might have done in the past. Torkelson is connecting well with the ball in camp. He hit the ball hard last season, BABIP hurt him a bit. He's going to be fine this season.
  24. Ew..... that's a scenario nobody thought of. Wouldn't that be quite the conundrum?
