  1. Positivity from buddha? Is this a delayed April Fool's Day post?

  3. OK, they're going with the come from behind victory on the way out of town approach today. I see you, Tigers, I see you.
  4. McKinstry is leading off. I mean, come on, let's just get this over with as quickly as possible. Grab the sweep, the beer, the cheese curds, the bratwursts, and head back to Detroit. This series will go down in history as where Milwaukee lost its 2023 playoff bid.
  5. Keeping innings in reserve for later on if/when they need to call folks up. Yes, that's a good theory and I thought that might have been where you were going. I don't think we've seen it as a planned outing yet this season, but they might also be keeping things lined up for bullpen games, too. Maybe instead of calling up a "SP", they'll go with a piggy back of multi inning RPs to try to get through 5 or 6. I know Skubal's return has been mentioned as well. I know he didn't have TJ, but my completely amateurish opinion is that its best to subscribe to the TJ recovery theory with him, at least early on when he comes back until he proves otherwise. We're kind of seeing that a bit with Turnbull right now, too. The combination of strength, stamina, and accuracy just seems to take a bit to regain.
  6. It was weird on Opening Day. The SP only tossed a few innings and then he was serving beers in the 5th & 6th innings. His pouring was clean in the 5th, but a bit scattershot after his beer count got elevated.
  7. You kind of lost me there. What do you think the organizational directive could be?
  8. SP depth for this season concerns me. I have not looked at Toledo's stats lately, but they didn't have a SP get into the 5th for what seemed like the first dozen games. For all of the accolades that the BP has earned lately, I think that lack of SP is going to bite the BP (and the Tigers). The multi inning relief appearances are going to be key to the survival of the pitching this season.
  9. Its funny you mention this. I noticed this on bbref the other day: The red is much more noticeable in frequency and depth than the green.
  10. That's true. But I think there's legit reason to still be optimistic about his future. If he were hitting for weaker contact throughout his MLB play, I think that'd be cause for more concern.
  11. Health code? In the land of brats, cheese curds, and beers for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?
  12. And inevitably a RHP will enter the game at some point. Dropping him lower in the lineup, maybe he only sees 2 PAs vs a LHSP and then its on to RHRPs.

  14. That is kind of encouraging. However, since the Tigers are pretty much dead last to begin with, even if they do get to where they should be, it’s going to be a rough season with the sticks.
  15. A little slow on the keyboard tonight? 😆
  16. If he hits like that, he will be hitting higher than 8th before this season is over.
  17. This is a pretty good point. Even if his wing is 100% healthy, is it ready to endure catching 2 out of 3 games per week at this point?
  18. It was an ugly bunt attempt, but it worked. So good on him for taking advantage of the opportunity. And when is the last time a cleanup hitter bunted? We may have been watching history there.
  19. There's something to be said for consistency?

  21. I don't know how much stock to put into numbers yet, at least as far as individual players are concerned. They're still only, what, 20 games into the season. As Vierling was mentioned, I see he has only 20 PAs vs LHPs. So, small sample size? Something that should correct itself over time? Maton was another hitter I glanced at this morning. BABIP is killing him. Hard hit % looks reasonable, but his LD% looks extremely low and his FB% looks pretty high (I think going off of memory). He's still drawing walks, so, do they just wait out the BABIP or do the LD%/FB% ratios suggest something needs to change? Again, only 20 games in. Now one of the numbers that is frightening is Greene's propensity for SOs. HIs swing path/length has been mentioned around here a bit. I'm not sure that's necessarily a small sample thing unless they are actively working on something right now. And, of course, the team wide slump is concerning as a whole.
  22. I think another thing is that Baltimore is trying to make the playoffs for the first time in who knows how long. So, yeah, shame on them for trying to win a ballgame that was highly in doubt? Come on....
  23. Looks like they might still be on track for Bert's 6 runs for the road trip.
  24. These are terrible posts. McKenna is trying to win a game, a 0-0 game at that point. The guy saw an opportunity to try to get on base to set up his team to win the game. How can he be faulted for that? Would you also blame a hitter for taking a borderline 3-2 pitch with a perfect game on the line?
