  1. Even more so if the Pistons landed the ace. But, hey, the Lakers have the aging Lebron James and the Nets have Irving/Durant running their teams, so they've gotten what they want.
  2. More fun Bumgarner stats from his bbref page:
  3. OSU certainly didn't look good early. They've had RB health issues this season. It seems like one of Henderson/Williams has been relegated to minimal touches and/or knocked out of a game and Hayden didn't get any playing time yesterday. PSU did a good job of forcing OSU into obvious passing plays in the first half, and at one point OSU was 1 of 7 on 3rd down conversions.
  4. Golden State Warriors vs Detroit Pistons
  5. Furthermore, its way too early, but look at the top 4 draft slots. All but one gets moved to a different team.
  6. Last night was the first playoff game for the high school that my daughter is in the marching band of. Home game, it was a 9-1 vs 5-5 matchup. The home team was down by two TDs at half and didn’t look good at all, but pulled out the victory in the final minutes. Fun atmosphere, cool crisp evening, you get the blood flowing pretty good given the scenario. The team and marching band get another home game. And, look, eye roll if you want, but the band is damn good and pregame is fun to watch and they like performing. Plus, being the home team means another week of a 10 minute drive rather than up to 90 minutes (one way). Then this OSU game today. Their biggest challenge of the season, eventually they pulled it out. Again, the suspense for a few hours, good stuff. Its been a fun football weekend and it’s only 4pm on Saturday. Not bad.
  7. True, it’s become more of a 3 point shooting league. And then when teams play the Pistons, they also have the advantage of scoring around the basket at will. The switch first philosophy and lack of size have yet to be addressed and likely won’t be addressed for a while. We’re probably more likely to see a full court press employed than a lineup change any time soon.
  8. It takes a little longer these days to get loose.
  9. I'm not saying the defense sucks, but I dropped 6 and grabbed a pair of boards against the teal horseheads last night in the 4th after you chumps understandably bailed on the game.
  10. It seems to have improved over time, but yes, there are stories that just don't fit the podcast.
  11. This is a fun pod. Its a once a week about half hour to an hour one on one interview with former players, broadcasters, groundskeepers, organ players, etc.
  12. Still on my bucket list. Doesn't look promising.
  13. Someone didn't tune in on Wednesday.
  14. I hated just about everything about it. The Pistons were only about the 824th sports team to go to teal, so it seemed foolish to me to join the other lemmings. I suppose the same could be said about blue, red, and white, but that has been the team's colors for so long. The logos were too cartoony, too. The horsehead and the tailpipes, OK, I get the link to the Motor City. I think that could have been done better.
  15. Drink stirring straws can be expensive.
  16. The teals are terrible, but I'll play along today.
  17. Atlanta Hawks vs Detroit Pistons
  18. That’s good stuff.
  19. I’ve never really believed this to the case for baseball. Basketball is probably the sport where it is most possible. Maybe hockey to an extent. But baseball is a sport where your chances to determine individual games over the course of a season are very low compared to the plays where you have no input. Ernie Banks comes to mind.
  20. Can Jim Cowan confirm that this is Tenacious D’s stunt double?
  21. I'm too busy focusing on the right date, right time, right opponent, right logo. Now you want bells and whistles for your feels?
  22. Sure, the MLB draft can be a crapshoot, no question. When you were looking at the best player picked, are you looking at the best player of a particular team or the best player of the draft? Keep in mind, the Tigers have been drafting early. So, OK, Brendan Rogers might have been the Rockies first pick (3rd overall), there are 9 other 1st rounders that were picked after him with higher career WAR, including Andrew Benintendi, Walker Buehler, Kyle Tucker, Austin Riley,... If the plan is to bottom out and gather up high draft picks, those picks better pan out. Otherwise, what are we even doing here?
  23. Absolutely spot on observation.
  24. Per the Locked On Tigers podcast, Tampa's drafts during Metzler's time in charge of the amateur draft is 8th in terms of WAR. This is something I eyeballed a little bit last night, but only Tampa vs Detroit. I don't think the difference there seemed to be much, but again, this was just glancing at it a little bit at baseball reference drafts year by year. And that's only a part of building a team. It doesn't take into account trades, free agency, international signings, etc. So, for instance, Jake Cronenworth was originally a Tampa draftee. So how do/should you roll his major league success into that? Additionally, Harris is said to have been impressed with some of the already in place scouting folks (I think that comes from Stavenhagen, but it was mentioned on Locked on Tigers).
