LOCKOUT '22: When will we see baseball again?

I agree with you from a fan's perspective that the most important issue is the flow of the game. They could increase their hardcore base of fans and pick up new casual fans by knocking games down to 2 1/2 hours. Somebody posted a tweet from Joc Pederson a few pages ago and he was lamenting 7 inning games. Hey, get your ass into the batter's box and get ready to hit! I wonder, however, with MLB seemingly noticing the revenue opportunity with gambling relatively recently, has it put the game flow issue on the back burner? They tried a pitch clock in the minors (definitely AAA) a few seasons ago, and we're still waiting on that to bubble up to the majors. Heck, I don't even know if they used it in AAA last season.- 1,851 replies

Maybe I am misunderstanding the point, but are you suggesting that is the crux of the issue at hand? Or is this aspect of the CBA the most important to you>- 1,851 replies

I think I read something about a notice going out to previous/current subscribers. I don't know exactly how the subscriptions work, I don't know if its season to season and you have to actively renew or if it renews passively.- 1,851 replies

I keep forgetting about this aspect. Speaking of, I wonder if Vegas has a line on the date of opening day and how many regular seasons teams will play this season?- 1,851 replies

Is there a parallel between average age and average salary? If teams are going younger because it makes more financial sense and because the production is relatively the same (and/or the younger player could appreciate in value while the older player typically depreciates in value), then where is the complaint in lower average salaries?- 1,851 replies

Hard to believe that this will help with recovering revenue in '21. I saw some stuff last night about folks cancelling MLB.TV until blackout rights are removed, although it seems to be that this lockout is the last straw for these people.- 1,851 replies

I have resigned myself over the past week or two that there isn't much reason to be optimistic about a deal being done until there is a done deal.- 1,851 replies

No doubt that spot in the lawn would be cleaned up and looking like new in mere days. Some people already know this, but Heather Nabozny reaches out to Biff from time to time for advise and reassurance.

My wife's uncle's husband is from the Kyiv area. He has been in the US for probably around 25 years. He still has family around Kyiv, and he has been able to maintain communication so far despite some of the damage that they've had around them.

1000%. I'm lucky enough to have a couple of rails to trails and bike paths within metroparks in close proximity, so I stick to those. If I'm on a road (1) its not a high traffic one, (2) I ain't on that road for long if I don't have to be, and (3) I'm going into the opposite direction so that I can see what I'm sharing the lane with.

Cade found early foul trouble, which they let him play through. Bagley was OK. Diallo got tossed for pushing an official out of his way during play (I guess the Rodman energy comparison that I had the other day also applies to his head at times). I saw Hayes hit a 3! They were in the game until the 4th. It was competitive, so from the perspective, it was good. -
