Week Ten: Detroit Lions (6-2) @ Los Angeles Chargers (4-4)

DPJ in 2020 as a rookie: 14 of 20 (catches v targets) = 70% on a small sample size 2021: 34 of 58 = 58.6% 2022: 61 of 96 = 63.5% 2023: 18 targets in 7 games and Cleveland's QB play this year has been sporadic at best (PJ Walker in 5 games = 50% completion rate, Dorian Thompson-Robinson in 3 games = 54% completion rate... Deshaun Watson has been in and out of the lineup the 1st 7 games...) Did you think you were actually making a point on DPJ? Or do you think that maybe your comment ACTUALLY speaks to a small sample size and ****ty/ sporadic Browns QB play this year? I vote the latter, and I vote Holmes/ Campbell actually knowing what they are doing versus Jason_R actually knowing what the deal is with DPJ. I also vote that DPJ's stats with the Browns this year mean Jack ****. -
It appears that Hamas' Gaza headquarters may actually BE underneath Shifa Hospital.

Fascist authoritarianism. Not hyperbole.
-
Are we having one this year? I would assume we are still in the market for Rule V'ers but... Ya' know... I don't really want to ASSUME...
-
And hopefully THAT wins out. That, and lots and lots of Dems voting for a Dem President no matter who it is (yes, even Biden) as well as a majority of Independents. I'll deal with the oligarchic kleptocracy wannabes by voting mostly Dems into power. No panacea... but it's better then empowering them with Republican control of all the levers of government. Because THAT will cement their past 40+ years of wins. Ever since Reagan, oligarchism has been on a striking rise.

And it was: FOUR years of Hock. So let's not be dishonest. Right...? -
But that's the EXACT reason for his motivation to: To benefit HIMSELF. That's the EXACT reason he wants to be Kim Jong Un of America. To this country's detriment.
-
Normally I don't have to look words up as I have a halfway decently expansive vocabulary but... I DID have to look up "the opposite of hyperbole"...! No NY Times crossword puzzles for me. 😉
-
Obviously... I don't agree with your underselling of Trump here...
-
Because I've made my position clear. Putting this two-year old child into the Presidency again where he can have his daily temper tantrums is an existential threat against this nations democracy. He'll flout the Constitution, as he already did his first term, and institute fascist authoritarianism in this country, which is already halfway there because of his Maga supporters. And you believe none of that If I am correct Lee? You think he is a simple joke; manchild with mental health issues... business as usual in this country even if her gains back the Presidency? Because that's what it sounds like from your takes.
-
As far as it looks like to me... And Lee, I don't want to put words in your mouth... But it appears that you think Trump is nothing but a two-year-old man-child with mental health issues and that's it. So you don't believe anyone should take ANYTHING he says seriously. If I have that correct?

One breakout game this year (and hopefully more productivity afterwards) changes everyone's viewpoint... IMO. -

I think all of you guys are giving up on Jamo too early. He's not a bad pick... and I don't think we even need to adjust expectations... I'm still on board with him being a dangerous, dominant receiver in the NFL... with multiple 1,000+ receiving years in his future. I think what needs to be adjusted is... His timetable. For whatever reason he is struggling with (injuries, can't do anything about that) his timing with Goff, his route running and hands. Wow, that sounds bad. But the offset to those problems is that he appears to (A) love the game and (B) is dedicated to getting better. I'm giving him more time to prove himself, one way or the other. It sucks that he is slow to get up to speed. But he gets there. IMO. And I don't want to offer impatient takes... which is what everyone here is giving right now, and it's understandable... but I think those are the wrong takes and the correct take is that this is a kid who just needs more time. -
You are UNDERSELLING Trump... badly.

As much as China has been a total pain in the ass the past 20 years or so... This is the take I have to agree with. China still wants to push the US aside and dominate the world. That's not going to happen, and I think they know that now. So we still need to talk them into being a responsible world partner instead of a belligerent world chaos agent. They may not change... but we've still got to try to convince them to and there's no way to do that aside from sitting down with them and talking it out...
-
Exactly. Capitalism trying to survive inside of a communist structure. NOT 100% communism. This... I do NOT agree with. As long as a business is not breaking the law... there is almost 100% (I say almost because I never want to put absolutes on this...) certainty that the business will have no issues with the federal government. That would include taxes, waste disposal, code, etc... I'm sure someone can find or illustrate an exception... but, ok, let's say 99.9% no problems as long as the law is followed. Now, following the law may be burdensome in the US, we have more codes than any other country on the planet... but that doesn't change the narrative. Break the law, codes or tax or anything... yeah, a business may run into issues with US or state officials (if they even get caught); otherwise, it's business as usual in the US... with OUT worrying about state interventions or bribery or some such... THAT's how China is different than the US. And it's not even close.

I also don't think they'll get into a bidding "war" for any free agent... But I also think they'll put a $-Value on what's out there and something will shake loose for a "not bottom-feeding" starter. My hope is that they put a very high value on Yamamoto as a 25 y.o. FA and lower values on the plethora of 35-ish starters available. But even with that, I believe they'll still be able to get a mid-rotation guy if not one of the top guys and they'll still chase after an end-of-rotation/ comeback-value type of starter. But... we'll see.

Top two offseason needs are a "speed" rusher (not necessarily a complete type DE or LB but just someone who gets to the QB fast as all-get-out), and a top CB. With a late 1st and 2nd rounder, it'll be hard to get one of those let alone two... And I'm getting the feeling they'll need to draft backup/ replacement players for the O-Line as well... -

Lions lead 24-10. This isn't acceptable. Especially out of the bye week. Fire the Coach, GM, and ALL THE PLAYERS NOW!!! -

Next week. I forget who said that, Campbell or Johnson...? -
There's actually a few decent relievers available this offseason, not just Hader: Craig Kimbrel (36), Matt Moore (35), Jordan Hicks (27 but command not much better than Lange's), Hector Neris (35), Will Smith (34), Reyaldo Lopez (30)... But that batch of relievers is no panacea for settling down our BP. In fact it's a list of other issues (age, lack of control, spotty history or health record, etc.) that tell me that, maybe, Kimbrel is the best option out of those non-Hader choices. But it also tells me: Hader is so far above all those other options, head-and-shoulders above, that: He's my Hader or Bust choice to sign for the Tigers BP. But... watch Harris pull a rabbit out of a hat that no one was even thinking of...
-
If I have this right... You believe the Tigers are some Black Hole Team that every single halfway decent or better starting pitcher will "Avoid-At-All-Costs" to come to...? Do I have that right? Is that what you think the Tigers are?
-
I think the Tigers will take one of these guys and their off-season rotation signs will be: A) One upper echelon guy... whoever they can convince to come to Detroit that fits within whatever budget amount they want to allocate to that... and: B) One end-of-the-rotation guy whether it's one of the guys listed by Petzold or some other back-ender they want to add as depth. The only thing I would say is: Make good decisions Harris.
