  1. This is what I've been thinking, but.... A) Maata has been really, really, really good for Hronek... and therefore I do not want to split this pairing up. B) So the only place for Chiarot (in my mind) is to slide him down to the 3rd pairing... which I think would greatly benefit whoever ends up as his partner down there... C) However, that means that Edvinsson would need to be ready to bring him up and throw him onto a Seider pairing. But... I'm guessing the Wings don't believe he's ready for that yet so... We may have to live with Chiarot paired with Seider for awhile...
  2. I flirted, but never even went out on a first date as a Libertarian. I like the idea of socially liberal and "fiscally responsible", but not stripping the government down to a skeleton crew. I don't date skeletons so, no thanks. (I like a little meat on the bones...)
  3. The U.S. HAS been pushing all parties to try to come to a resolution. A lot of it is behind the scenes. And that includes pressuring Ukraine (but not too much... they can't), Russia, China, India, and the EU... I mean, you've gotta know that the US has been pushing every single button that they can... right? But again, neither side in this war is ready to give up/ stop hostilities. I would not call it appeasement (that is giving in to Putin's demands) but, rather, just "premature". That is the word I would use. And not through any fault of your own... everyone (outside of Russia & Ukraine) would like this war to end. But it will be nothing except premature until the two key parties are ready to stop/ negotiate. I don't believe I've said otherwise.
  4. I do NOT believe that a lockdown CB is more of a must than a franchise-QB-for-the-future, a dominant DL'man to solidify the D-Line, or a Von Miller dynamic LB'er who can cover TE's. Maybe on a par with the last two... but I do not see it as a superior need. But you take what the draft makes available to you or you incur the cost of moving up to "get your player" so, that being said... My 2023 wish list would be: (Rams pick) Will Anderson (Lions pick) Joey Porter or Chris Gonzalez or even Ringo (whoever falls to our spot, and... I don't see any dominating must-pick LB'ers this year in the top 15 so I go CB here... Last Point: this also is where I think the Lions coaching staff can "coach a guy up" and not necessarily be in the top-10 for a CB, so the 2nd or 3rd guy could be good enough... IMO.) 2nd round (Lions) (Same with QB's, I don't see the must-pick franchise guy this year so I pass in the 1st and only if the Lions see something they want to develop would I want to go QB here... which may actually be a trade-up to the end of the 1st to go after Anthony Richardson for example, but... I don't see it...) So, after all that being said: Guys that could end up at the end of the 1st round to mid-2nd that I want are Nolan Smith or Trenton Simpson, LB'er, Antonio Johnson, Safety. Maybe a move is made to get back to the end of the 1st to nab Richardson if the Lions believe in him and are able to go up and get him...? 2nd (from the Vikings)/ 3rd (Lions)... with these two picks I'm looking for depth at RB and Guard: I see a few Center/ Guards around this area... being able to play both spots well-above-average would be attractive to the Lions methinks... Rick Stromberg or John Michael Schmitz, or a straight-up guard like Andrew Voorhees... For a depth/ developmental RB Zach Charbonnet out of UCLA?
  5. No one is ignoring Ukrainian losses... But you keep framing this as WE are going to determine when to end this war... It is not US. Ukraine itself is willing to incur additional pain, freezing winters, loss of life... in order to get back Crimea and all the rest of their territory. You want an end to this war? Then either: Get Russia to back out of all Ukrainian territories... OR get Ukraine to agree it's time to come to some kind of settlement with Russia; which, BTW, Ukraine believes that Russia/ Putin will NOT compromise and therefore it is useless, at this point, to negotiate. At some point, one side or the other is going to have to give in... but neither side is there yet... And neither you nor anyone else in this world is going to compel either side to do what YOU want.
  6. There's a simple answer to that: If both Ukraine and Russia agree to those terms... You're in. Everyone would be on board. But you have to get agreement from the two key parties... and right now Ukraine is hell-bent on getting back ALL of their territory, to Pre-2014, not just to 2014 borders. That may change... but... we'll see... It's all on Ukraine and Russia right now though... to come to terms with what they can agree upon as a resolution to this war...
  7. Losing to a better team... 4-1 now in the 2nd, Toronto...
  8. I don't think that's a definite at all... Not with the way that Holmes drafts (meaning he can find productive players in later rounds, not limited to 1st rounders only...) I think Holmes would look at it as he's got 5 picks in the 1st 3 rounds and will look to add as much playmaking talent as he can. 5 picks and need to add (1) playmaking DL'man, LB'er, CB, RB (to back up Swift), and a QB if the right one falls to us into the right draft pick position. IMO.
  9. The Ukrainians do not agree with your take. It's as simple as that.
  10. Any war has a cost. You know, like... The American Revolution.
  11. BINGO. https://www.yahoo.com/news/u-totally-misjudged-war-ukraine-094252667.html
  12. One of the answers to "where are we going to get the lithium and rare earth metals that we need for future industry" is in our own back yard: https://www.yahoo.com/news/large-deposit-rare-elements-minerals-090500796.html With a very huge caveat that these potential windfalls need to get past the local & other environmental/ zoning laws. In these cases, I do not mind pushing for federal government interference due to national security concerns... although I do not believe that that will be a winning argument with anyone...
  13. But even outside the 1st rounder, they could be at or near the top of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th rounds... Instead of the middle of those rounds. If the season is shot... they have incentive to IR guys who are nicked up, not play Stafford with concussion issues and a major investment in him (sorry MB, cribbin' ya'...), etc...
  14. I could do that at the #2 or 3 spot... easily.
  15. I missed a couple obvious (and pretty big) ones that belong along with their other military failures: Russian - Generals and other officers: FAILURES. Russian - military leadership philosophy: FAILURE. Russian - military training: FAILURE. Russian - Conscription process: FAILURE.
  16. What a jackass. Typical.
  17. And this is just personal projection... They were underperformers. There is no other reason whatsoever to assign to their release. They were subpar. (or at least candy was in 2022... in 2020-21 he was good...). But it doesn't matter if replacements are dirt cheap. Sift through cheap role players is just as significant a part of team-building as spending significant money on filling holes on the team (meaning FA's...).
  18. I want to throw in my 2 cents here... My impression from Useful Idiot so far (over the past couple years) has been nothing but "Tigers Suck", "Tigers Suck", "Tigers Suck". Trolling. But I don't think this is that. At first I was thinking that... But this is different. IMO, UI is taking a stance here. A hard stance that no one agrees with... I don't agree with it... but this isn't trolling. He is demanding immediate player improvements. I don't see that happening... but I respect the position/ not trolling. Maybe I'll even convince him to give it a year... just one. If not... go for it UI... but I will guess that 2023 will be a disappointment for you... 2024 will be better... Just my 2 cents...
  19. Yep... he was the one I was thinking of...
  20. Antwaan Randle El was the other guy I was thinking of...
  21. Kordell Stewart for the Steelers was one guy...
  22. Out with the old, in with the new.
  23. Damn Michigan!!! I was expecting a loss and a tenuous hold on the #4 spot if we didn't get usurped... But... damn!!! Watched some outstanding breakaway plays... SEVERAL!!! Very unexpected and... pleasing to see...! Now... FINISH IT! Go ALL THE WAY PLEASE!!!
  24. I think how this works best is not how you have it described but, rather: A "Jack" QB (I just made that up... but I'm trying to remember a couple of QB's who played a hybrid RB/ WR/ QB (Jack-of-all trades) position... well. Hines Ward with the Steelers? Or was it someone else with the Steelers I think...? College QB, but came in and did every damn thing... Which I guess isn't Ward since he was 99% a WR and only did a tiny amount of running (reverses...?).
  25. In Allen's favor, he doesn't look small and breakable like a lot of running QB's do... he looks more like a Cam Newton 2.0... but we'll see if he lasts longer than Newton because his career did end up shorter as well than a pure drop-back guy...
