  1. 2-0 Guardians. Holton gone without getting an out.
  2. Is TBS going to freeze the pitcher’s name into the score box the entire game? I’d rather know, now and then, who is at bat and who is on deck.
  3. The ‘84 Tigers are halfway between D-Day and now.
  4. But this year Tigers proved Sparky’s old adage - you don’t really know the measure of a team until after the first one hundred and forty games of the season.
  5. And a question I don't know the answer to. Is the program only for assistance with substance abuse issues? What about general mental health? Because last year during his Edmonton struggles I was hearing that his confidence was shot and he was having mental struggles and that alcohol or drugs may not have been the issue, at least not last season.
  6. I think that even if the Tigers' run continues deeper into this post-season, Harris is smart enough to realize this is currently an 80-85 win roster and he has to sit down with Ilitch in November to figure out achievable work to do in order to make it an 85-90 win roster by Opening Day 2025.
  7. Brilliant and funny clip here of Agassi explaining a tell of Boris Becker and how Agassi decided when to use the knowledge.
  8. A double play ends it. Mets win 4-2 and will play Philly. I listened to Bob Uecker in the 9tn. He is 90 and sounds his age. Does he always pause for a few seconds after every 4 words, even in mid-sentence?
  9. Holy cow. Pete Alonso just hit an opposite field 3-run homer with 1 out in the 9th. Only had 3 baserunners all night until this inning. Held scoreless for 15 innings until the 9th. 3-2 Mets.
  10. Pitcher's duel in Milwaukee. Scoreless at the 7th inning stretch. Myers went 5 for Milwaukee with 2 hits, Quintana went 6 for the Mets with 4 hits.
  11. That's why I wanted so much for the Wings to make the playoffs last year. Rather than push the Wings into "win now" mode, I think it would have just bought some more time and got people off their back about this growing playoff drought. Win a bit last year, maybe even steal a 1st round series, and most people would be content with a step back if it meant getting the Wings to the best place in 3 years time. Not that I expect Yzerman and Illitch to make panic moves this year to make the playoffs, but rumblings will continue to get louder until the Wings make the postseason at least once. That's what the Tigers' run has given Harris and Illitch the luxury of, IMO. Tigers might well come 3rd next season and miss the playoffs, but this offseason they can make decisions that set the team up best for the rest of the '20s.
  12. Costas did PBP for the Twins-Tigers series in 1987, I remember that distinctly. I don't recall him doing in any series in 2006, 2011-2014 (I may be wrong). So if he had drawn the Tigers' series this year, that could have meant 37 years between series by the same announcer. Some type of record maybe.
  13. There have been arguably bigger Tigers "moments" between 2007-2024 than Ibanez' hit yesterday. Final out of JV's no-hitters, the final pop-up to win the 2012 AL pennant, Miggy's 3000th and 500th milestones, Max getting out of a tense 8th inning jam against the A's in an ALDS, the 27th "out" of the perfect game. But off the top of my head, can't think of a more important or more exciting play than Ibanez' bases-clearing double* since Magglio's homer. I guess it being "only" the wildcard round downgrades it a bit. But still, a massive memory. *went to 3rd on the throw home.
  14. I wonder whether there will be sizeable contingents of Tigers fans at the Cleveland games and/or Guardians fans at the Detroit games. I’d say the former is far more likely.
  15. Maybe the Guardians' bats will be a bit off for Game 1 anyways. Won't have played a meaningful game in 2 weeks, since clinching the division on September 21. Or any game at all in the 5 days before Saturday.
  16. Yeah, going back and doing some reading, I guess that was more of a 2023 thing. The December 2023 contract extension, even if it was only through 2025 and could easily be ignored if a firing was needed, seemed to put that talk to rest.
  17. At the All Star break, wasn't it the general feeling that 2024 could well be Hinch's last year with the Tigers, by mutual agreement? Things have changed.
  18. I remember, in the old days, I assumed we were all seeing the game at the same time. Figured maybe a 5-second delay or so from people in the ballpark. I'd bring my radio to the game and it would be described exactly the same time I was seeing it. Now? My tv feed was 20 seconds behind the MLB At Bat radio feed. The MLB app was showing pitch results about 2 seconds before I heard the radio feed. The Canadian TV stations were showing the ABC feed about 5 seconds before my ABC station was. Sirius XM in my car or via my ios app is a good one minute behind the TV broadcast feed.
  19. And just like rookie Datsyuk and the '02 Wings, when looking back and counting up the personal and team accolades in the career of Jackson Jobe, people will say "oh yeah, almost forgot, at the very beginning of his career he was a part of that title-winning '24 team as well".
  20. What’s wild is that, now looking at his Twitter, he is probably much younger than the 49-year old former Tiger.
  21. No I didn’t! lol, I just thought he had put on weight and aged. Haha, thanks for letting me know.
  22. Remember last summer when all the talk was how about far the wonderful rebuild of the Orioles was so much better than that of the Tigers. Ok, it probably is, with 101 wins last year and a more talented roster. But it is ironic that the Tigers - who were only 5 games behind Baltimore this regular season - are still playing and the O’s are done.
