  1. Some Detroit sportscasters are surprisingly old and long-tenured. I guess anyone under 30 would consider them to have been around forever. George Blaha - 80. Pistons PBP since 1976. Mickey Redmond - 77. Red Wings tv color since 1986. Paul Woods - 77. Red Wings radio color since 1987. Mark Champion - 75. Pistons PBP since 2001. Ken Kal - 67. Red Wings PBP since 1995. Dan Dickerson - 66. Tigers PBP since 2000. Ken Daniels - 66. Red Wings PBP since 1997. Dan Miller - 63. Lions PBP since 2005. Here is how old famous Detroit broadcasters were when they retired. Ernie Harwell - 84. Tigers PBP 1960-2002. Jim Price - 81 (died, was broadcaster in the season of his death). Tigers color 1993-2023. George Kell - 74. Tigers PBP 1959-1996. Jim Brandstatter - 71. Michigan color/PBP 1979-2021. Al Kaline - 67. Tigers color 1975-2002. Bob Reynolds - 67. Lions PBP 1952-1982. Bruce Martyn - 65. Red Wings PBP 1964-1995. Frank Beckmann - 64. Michigan PBP 1981-2013. Paul Caray - 63. Tigers PBP 1973-1991. Bob Ufer - 61 (died, was broadcaster in the season of his death). PBP 1945-1981.
  2. I don't use Reddit for sports, but I do use it for local news of various cities in which I'm interested and for travel. It's a good source of real-time information and for dialogue that - despite anonymity - for the most part remains civil and constructive, probably due to having moderaters and upvotes/downvotes.
  3. I save all my passion and negativity and channel it instead towards the scourge of e-bikes and e-scooters on sidewalks. We need to bring back the electric chair in Canada. Just for that.
  4. As shaky as the Tigers have been, a big part of the story is the Guardians going 21-7 (.750 ball for 28 games) if they hang on to their 3-1 8th inning lead tonight after being under .500 most of the year. If the Guardians had simply gone 17-11, still better than they had started the year, the Tigers' lead would be near double digits.
  5. Petry jinxed it.
  6. From Wikipedia:Morton has the most career batters hit by pitch of active pitchers with 189.
  7. I’m disappointed the Tigers aren’t up by a few runs, for as hittable as Kikuchi has been and as lights out Morton has been.
  8. Morton strikes out the side and has 8 Ks through 3 innings.
  9. Morton strikes out the side and has 5 Ks through 2 innings.
  10. Yankees beat the Astros. Houston is now 2 back of the Tigers, Seattle is 3 back.
  11. Eugenio Suarez has played 8 games for the Mariners since being acquired at the deadline, going 3 for 31 including striking out 13 times for an .097 avg, 1 HR, 3 RBI, .347 OPS.
  12. Guardians win. Astros win. Jays-Dodgers scoreless early.
  13. Tigers win! Vierling with the biggest moment of the season so far, arguably.
  14. Whew. 1 down after a fair or foul scare.
  15. I fell asleep watching the 6 o’clock (Pacific time) news at 4-3. Woke up, flipped over, and it’s 6-5. Now let’s get some insurance.
  16. Riley! Watch him fly!
  17. Skubal yanked.
  18. Back to back homers! Angels up 4-3.
  19. 82 pitches with Skubal with 1 out in the 5th. Will be lucky if he goes 6. 3-3 tie.
  20. Skubal not dominant tonight.
  21. Guardians up 5-0 over White Sox in the top of the 1st.
  22. Tork-bomb! He (.821) now has a higher OPS than Greene (.814)
  23. That's a load off his mind for Skubal. Now he knows that as long as can he give the Tigers a good 6 innings, Heuer is here to lock it down the rest of the way.
  24. Yes, April-June was the honeymoon period, all bliss. For a few weeks in July cracks started to appear in the relationship but you worked through it and reconciled and were confident of smooth sailing up ahead. Instead, they woke up in a foul mood on Tuesday and tossed a frying pan of scrambled eggs at you while you were just trying to read the paper and sip a coffee.
  25. lol, what’s the opposite of a Prospects thread? Update on ex-MSU, ex-Wing …
