  1. Greene had a .644 OPS last Saturday, he now has a .828 6 days later.
  2. lol this is awesome!!
  3. Tigers have put 7 balls in play this inning, all have been above 95+ exit velos.
  4. Well it was atleast nice to see Jung put a good swing on it and hit the ball hard for a change.
  5. Can't believe Tim Anderson is still in the league...and that he is still ONLY 31. Feels like he has been around forever.
  6. Skubal busts out a 93mph slider.
  7. Article about Judge's past calendar year, just mind boggling stuff. I didn't think I'd ever see a stretch better than Bonds but given the difficulty of today's pitching I think what Judge has been doing tops that. Just historical stuff. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/aaron-judges-past-year-has-yankees-slugger-lapping-his-mlb-peers-like-no-one-ever-has-not-even-barry-bonds/
  8. LaPorta is replaceable in my eyes, I have no problem trading him like they did Hockenon if it means paying guys like Brian Branch or Jameson Williams instead.
  9. Like I said above, it just isn't worth it in this day and age. When even the elite guys are only throwing 100 pitches at most you're only looking at about 6 innings a start and about 180-190 innings a year. At those numbers the difference between an elite guy and average guy just isn't that much in terms of run differential. Not nearly enough to justify the cost.
  10. We've also got about a 110 OPS+ collectively from our catching trio of Dingler, Rogers and Nido which probably isn't sustainable so they are due for a regression as well. On the flip side we have Vierling and hopefully Meadows coming back and I think we can expect more from Keith, Sweeney and Greene so that could help offset that. But like you said the key for the offense is Tork and Baez, if both can continue to hit at the levels they are then this can be a top 10ish offense which is more than enough if our pitching holds up like we expect it to.
  11. This is the Tigers 11th win by 4 or more runs and 7th by 5+ runs.
  12. Kinda hard to believe but this is our first game with double digit runs scored.
  13. Starting pitchers aren't worth what they used to be, even as great as Skubal is he rarely goes more than 7 and will be under 200 innings a year. Last year in 192 innings Skubal gave up 54 runs, a league average starter with a 4.00 ERA would have given up 84 so 30 runs over the course of the season. Definitely not insignificant but is it worth what Skubal will command in FA? Not to me it isn't, so keep him for the next 2 seasons and let somebody else overpay for his decline years.
  14. I think it's obvious why they didn't bring in Jensen cause they were worried that Carp would come in, they felt better about the lefty facing Dingler than the righty facing Carpenter.
  15. As bad as it seems Riley has been at the plate for the majority of the season here he sits with a respectable 115 OPS+, still below expectations but considering he's been slumping most of the season that is pretty damn good.
  16. Matt Ishbia has them both beat imo.
  17. BTW Trout left yesterday's game early with a knee injury, haven't heard the severity of it but I have to imagine he misses tonight's game at the very least.
  18. I was told there would be no science.
  19. I haven't been paying attention closely the last few years but I remember Anaheim used to be a house of horrors for us, hopefully that is in the rear view mirror.
  20. Am I reading the box score right, did Keith actually hit a HR? No way!
  21. If that is the case then that is a terrible use of an asset. Using a top 75 pick on your projected backup qb(who will be injured the first year anyway) just so you could save a few million a year is complete negligence. If the Lions were in cap hell then maybe I could get it but they had and were projected to have more cap space then they could spend while Hooker is under contract.
