Still hard to believe that Juan Soto is still only 24 years old. -
I legit have no idea what type of prospect(s) we can get for Lorenzen and Rodriguez, could we get atleast 1 50+ grade guy for each? If so then you have to deal them but if all we can get are multiple fringe 40-45 type guys I assume just keep them and try to play meaningful baseball the last couple months of the season. This is Assuming of course we are still within 4 games come deadline. Yeah we may only have a 5% shot of making the playoffs but what's the percentage that a fringe prospect amounts to anything useful in the big leagues? Can't be much more than that and even if we don't actually make the playoffs just potentially playing in meaningful games could be worth something to the team and at the least make things more enjoyable for us fans.

This really has nothing to do with the Tigers but I'm curious why baseball players are allowed to negotiate contracts with agents and pro teams and not lose their college eligibility yet for sports like the NBA and NFL the moment they sign with an agent they forfeit their eligibility.

No word yet on if he will be available in a pinch hitting role tonight. -
Prefer to get everybody of course but Im most concerned with McGonigle so if we got to max out to get him and lose the late round HS guys so be it. Either way though I'm 99.99% positive that the Tigers won't go over the max and lose their pick next year. They will probably get to within a dollar or something minuscule like that.

No thanks on Arenado, great player but he will be 33 next year with alot of miles on him, not somebody I'd be willing to mortgage the future on. -
I'd love to get Robbie Gould, I know the Lions are an aggressive team that likes to go for 4th downs instead of kicks more than most so in theory a kicker shouldn't be as important to them as other teams but still I would feel alot better about the team if I knew we had a reliable guy there and they don't get much more reliable than Gould particularly in the postseason where I believe he has yet to miss a kick in his entire career.

Candy and Parades for a half season of Justin Wilson was probably Avila's biggest win.

I think the thing that frustrates me with Tork is just how he goes through these stretches where he just looks completely lost at the plate. I know virtually every player has their ups and downs throughout the season but when he has his downs he is just so painful and frustrating to watch at the plate. -
I read that the Jets are trying to trade WR Denzel Mims but if they can't find any suitors they will just waive him. I haven't really kept up with him much in the NFL but he was somebody I had my eye on in the 2020 draft where the Jets took him in the 2nd round. He's a big WR at 6'3 225lb who can play on the outside which is something that we could use. I know he hasn't produced in the NFL but he also hasn't had the best QBs or coordinators to work with, perhaps a change of scenery would help him.

I dont expect everybody to know or understand the slot system which is fine but in that case preface your post with something like "maybe I'm not understanding this correctly" or something like that instead of just coming out and bashing something so matter of factly when you don't have any knowledge on the subject.

I blame it on the unrealistic hype he got pre draft, he didn't come across as just a normal number 1 pick, he was being touted as a near generational bat so with descriptions like that people get unrealistic expectations. -
He was a resigning but the Strasburg extension is brutal.

I wonder if Javy has just lost bat speed independent of his mechanics. Yeah he's not at the age where you would expect a decline but iirc Javys speed was heavily dependent on his hands and wrist speed unlike just being strong so perhaps that is something that declines earlier than other things. Just a thought. -

BTW the Rangers just signed Langford for a little over 300K over slot so assuming it would've taken the same for us if we picked him at 3 then we saved about a million by taking Clark.

Tork gives you this week stretch where you really think he is turning a corner but then follows it up with a 2 to 3 week stretch where he hits even worse than Javy before repeating the process again. -
When they interviewed him after we picked him I'm pretty sure he said that he talked to Harris and it sounded to him like he would be heading to rookie ball for the year. Don't quote me on that cause I maybe misremembering the interview but I"m fairly certain that was what he said.

Kiley McDaniel reports that Max signed for 7.7 million which is roughly 600K below slot and just about right on the number 4 pick number which is what the rumor was when we drafted him.

Joe Randa is one of my fave Royal and Tiger. Always got a kick out of his little natural smirk he had that looked like Jack Nicholson's Joker. -
I don't think we have a prospect viewed on the level of a Jacob Turner was at the time to get a deal like that done, atleast one we'd be willing to trade. At the time Turner was a borderline top 15 prospect in all of baseball, so even though he didn't pan out it wasn't like Dombrowski traded a mid to low level prospect to get them.

Since it was the last game of Summer League Id imagine the competition was even softer than it normally is but regardless its nice to see him close out the summer that way after struggling for most of it. Sure beats the alternative of him having another bad game.

I agree about the Vikings but I think we're in the minority, it seems that many of the national folks are kinda leaving or at the very least thinking they will take a major step back. I can understand that viewpoint cause they did have a flukey record in 1 score games, had a terrible defense and lost some good players but the fact is they won 13 games last year so even if that luck doesn't repeat itself they may very well still win alot games. With that said I do think it's fair to say that they aren't as good as the competition the Eagles have in the East or the 9ers have with the Seahawks.
