  1. Wenceel feels like he has been in our system since Obama's first term so I gave up on him a year or 2 ago but he still is only 23 and hitting well this year so maybe I was a bit premature.
  2. It will probably get forgotten about since the 49ers are a successful team but trading up for Lance was an all time horrible trade. To move up from 12 overall the Niners gave up that pick, a 22 1st, 22 3rd and a 23 first. If the Niners didn't make that trade and stayed put they could've gotten a guy like Micah Parsons, Rashawn Slater or if they were hell bent on a QB Mac Jones who I thought then and still do think would've excelled under Shanahan. Not to mention what they could've done with their 22 and 23 firsts along with that 22 3rd.
  3. Admittedly I don't follow the international market that closely especially in regards to the rest of the league but to me for all the talk about our subpar drafting it feels like our lack of producing guys from the international market has hurt us even more. I mean in the past 20 years I think Eugenio Suarez and Avisail Garcia have been the most productive of our signings and they of course did the vast majority of their damage elsewhere.
  4. No strikeouts for either team through 2 innings, in this day in age that is a rarity.
  5. "I talked to multiple people(scouts) that have watched Jobe that told me he has the best stuff from any starting pitcher they have watched this year or last year." Also liked how he said that he believes that Jobe will end up being worthy of his draft slot, he said that we may look back and regret passing on certain guys but in general Jobe will end up being worth what we gave him and where we picked him.
  6. What I remember about Bergman was as like a 6 year old either I saw it on the back of a baseball card or heard it on a telecast but it mentioned him being a stock broker on the side and in the offseason. I remember my Dad saying something like "he probably makes more money doing that than playing baseball", the only "stock" I heard of was in regards to "stocking shelves" like at a supermarket so in my head that's what I thought it was. I remember thinking "wow I didn't know the people working at Farmer Jack or Kroger's made more than baseball players". lol one of those random things from your childhood that always stuck with me and to this day I often think of Bergman anytime I hear the term stock broker.
  7. So Strasburg indeed does get paid. I wonder what the diff would've been for the Nats if they had insurance on the contract? Would they have been able to recoup all the money?
  8. Jung's power and numbers in general have been really good this year but it doesnt seem to have translated in the scouting views as it seems like most if not all haven't changed their views on him at all this year in terms of his grade or ranking.
  9. Sadly Rich Hill, Adam Wainwright and Nelson Cruz(not sure if he is technically active?) are the last ones left that I'm older then.
  10. Mine was from June of 2009, just googled it though and my memory was wrong it wasn't a bobblehead it was like a bronze figurine. Wanna go try to find it now cause it looks pretty cool in the pictures.
  11. I wasn't sure since I assume he is retiring because of an injury related to baseball and not him just choosing to walk away from the game when he is still capable of playing. For an extreme scenario say you sign a big contract and then you break your leg out in the field so bad that it requires amputation which in turn forces you to retire. I would think you would still be owed all the money on that contract cause after all one of the reasons players sign these long term deals is for financial security in case you get a serious injury.
  12. I think my favorite giveaway was the Verlander bobblehead with a K counter on it. I think I got it in 2010 the year after he won the strikeout crown. Still have it somewhere in my basement. Another favorite was the Honus Wagner bobblehead when I went to Pittsburgh to see the Tigers play there.
  13. So does Strasburg get all the remaining money on his deal even though he is retiring?
  14. I know it's redudant and I'm probably in the minority but I just like the way "grand slam HR" sounds particularly in big moments, idk I just think it sounds like a bigger deal than just saying Grand Slam.
  15. Listening to the radio and you can tell that Doug Karsh and producer Khang don't pay attention to baseball injuries cause they were both dumbfounded about what a UCL injury was. They were like "UCL? How many 'CLs' are there? That's one I dont think I heard before."
  16. I wonder how much money this news is gonna cost Ohtani? Assuming it doesn't effect him offensively you still would be signing arguably the best hitter in the game but if this forces him to not beable to pitch or even worse forces him to the full time DH role that absolutely craters a big chunk of his value.
  17. Eddys Leonard 2-3 with a HR and a walk tonight. Now sporting a tidy .964 OPS in Toledo since we acquired him.
  18. Chiefs all world DT Chris Jones has said that he is willing to sit out and forfeit game checks through the first 8 games of the season if he doesn't get the extension that he is looking for. I'm sure it will end up being resolved but it sure would be nice to not have to play against him in week 1.
  19. Jeimer has definitely made himself alot of money with his performance this year.
  20. Ibanez again! This time a 3 run shot to give the Tigers a 7-4 lead!
  21. I see that the Twins just promoted Walker Jenkins to Single A, wonder when/if the Tigers are going to do that with Clark this year?
  22. I agree, they are one of those teams that with the nature of the NFL they could win 5 games or only lose 5 games but I think in general they are better than people are giving them credit for. Yes they did get extremely fortunate in 1 possession games and they did lose some key players but regardless they still won 13 games and do have a ton of talent on offense and a competent QB. That alone makes them a team that you shouldn't look past. Also I think the hiring of Brian Flores as their new DC could be a big move for them and I think has the potential to really help improve that defense. Considering they were terrible last year and lost some key members of the unit he probably isn't going to turn it into a strength or anything but if he can just make it serviceable with their offense that should be good enough. Much in the same regards to the Lions. I still think the Lions "should" be better but I certainly wouldn't be surprised if the Vikings ended up the better team.
  23. I could see Adduci in a role like Costanza had for the Yankees on Seinfeld, particularly the one episode where George had to take reps from the Astros out and "show them a good time". Deuce's role probably includes giving players all the right intel where they can find the hottest spots to hit after the games and how to handle the police if they were to get caught in a tough situation.
  24. "Advance Game Planner" lol Adduci just talks teams into creating jobs for him, the drunken father of his would be proud.
