Henning complaining about E-Rod screwing up our "lottery odds", oh joy that'll be the dead horse he beats every one of his starts until the end of the season. -
A thing of beauty!

In the grand scheme of things it isn't ideal that we didn't trade E-Rod but seeing games like this makes it more tolerable short term cause if we traded him we'd just be having to watch some AAAA guy like Wentz throw a garbage game. Atleast keeping him saves us from seeing 10ish extra games like that. -

Zack Short has quietly been pretty good for us this year, he's currently sitting at 1.1 WAR over 160 ABs which rates out to over 3 wins if he was a full time regular for a whole season. Of course it's hard to say if he would have the same production if he played every day but regardless for the role he has been given he has been more than adequate. -
Teddy to me is the perfect backup QB, if God forbid Goff goes down in week 1 and we have to use him for 16 weeks is he going to save us? No probably not but that's unrealistic of any back up QB, a great backup QB is one that will prevent you from free falling if your QB goes out early in a game or has to miss a month or so and I think Teddy is that guy. If Goff were to sprain an ankle or something and miss 5 games I think Teddy may help us go 2-3 or 3-2 and right the ship where as somebody like Sudfield we may go winless and in turn totally send the season into a tailspin.

I also look at some of his post Red Sox trades notably the Sale trade. He made sure he kept Devers but gave up Moncada(the then number 1 prospect) and Kopech one of the best pitching prospects. Both have had their moments but they haven't been the elite hitter that Devers has.

Max has the "clutch gene"!

I remember watching him in that Tigers intra squad game that they televised leading up to the Covid shortened season and I remember being blown away with his stuff, at that point I wouldve bet the house that he'd be an impact late inning reliever within the next calendar year.

Dombrowski has a pretty good track record of keeping the prospects that pan out and trading the ones that don't so that worries me a bit but nobody's perfect(ie Eugenio Suarez) so maybe this will be another one of those rare times he gets rid of the wrong guy.

It would've been petty even if the pbp guy said it unsolicited but the fact that the graphics were up it obviously was a planned segment by the network which makes it even worse. I mean how can you suspend him for just reading what was on the screen and/or reading the content that he was given?

Rapaport confirms we are signing Bridgewater. No word on the numbers of the deal though.

I can't remember where I read it maybe the Athletic(wasn't by JEIII) but I guess Kerr or Grant Hill flat out said that he would be on the main team and the only reason he isn't is because he is working his way back from injury so he's under a bit of a load management at this time.

Kiley Mcdaniel put out his top FAs and had Erod at 7. This is what he had to say. Rodriguez blocked a trade to the Los Angeles Dodgers and now will have to deal with his opt-out. He should easily be able to clear the three years and $49 million left on his deal, but that could also be accomplished by reworking it with the Tigers to avoid hitting the open market. Here's yet another starting pitcher with all the components to project a low-nine-figure deal, but there's a real chance he never reaches the open market. -
Nice to know that he seems to have learned his lesson from his injury and in turn isnt trying to throw a ball through a brick wall everytime like Degrom.

Off topic but on ABC right now they're doing Celebrity Family Feud with current players vs. Hall of Famers and CJGJ and ARSB are on the current players team. BTW they've only played a couple games so far and Amon Ra is definitely better at catching footballs than playing Family Feud. lol "Name a food that turns you on when seeing a women eat it" Amon Ra - "chewing gum" "Name something that is hard for a man to admit they aren't good at" Amon Ra - "reading"

I've already given up on Manning as being anything more than a serviceable number 4. He'll string together a few good starts in a row here and there to give you hope but ultimately revert right back to the player he truly is which is a mid 4s type pitcher. BTW that's not necessarily a bad thing, there's some value to being roughly league average and giving you 5-6 innings a start but any hope of him being an All Star caliber pitcher like we envisioned at one point is long gone in my eyes. -
Bigbie is a little older but otoh he wasn't drafted till 2021 so this is only his 2nd full season in pro ball which to me helps offset the age and something I pay attention to. If he was drafted out of HS and this was say his 5th or 6 season in pro ball I would feel worse about his age but that isn't the case.

Meadows turns on a 97mph fastball for another bomb!

It's nice to hear some positive stuff from guys like Kerr and other outsiders, it's easy to take everything with a grain of salt when it's local beat writers or team insiders but it carries more weight to me when it comes from the outside.

Roster flexibilty is fine but I'd rather have a player that fields 1 position great than guys that fields a bunch of positions average or mediocre and this doesn't even factor in the hitting aspect of it. -

That's what I think as well. He's obviously completely 1 dimensional at this point and offers no versatility but looking around the league and seeing players that are rostered you would think that there would still be a place somewhere for a guy that can hit for the average that he can, even if it's only for a few games a week. -

Miggy is hitting nearly .340 in his last 40 games with 13 xtra base hits, I wonder if he keeps going this way that IF he wanted to come back next year if a team would give him an MLB contract next year? Just a hypothetical cause I truly believe he is hanging them up either way but just curious cause a few months ago it would've been insane to even think of the possibility that somebody would actually want him next year. -

Yeah at first I was hoping it was something that "just" effected his baseball life and not life all around, like maybe being in the batter's box just gave him major anxiety or something but now that is starting to sound like that is not the case but instead something much worse that effects his day to day life as well. -
I still question how much it actually effects a team's strategy, I mean sure getting an extra pick at the end of the 1st round is nice but is the prize big enough to alter how you really want to handle things especially given that it takes the player winning the ROY just to get that pick? Like if the Tigers really wanted to see what Keith looked like and give him reps in August and September so he has big league reps under his belt so next year there won't be a learning process at the start. I'm not so sure that management would say "Well maybe we shouldn't do that cause you know we could get a pick in the 30s(which normally don't amount to much anyway) if we wait till next year to look at him AND he happens to beat out dozens of other guys for the sole rookie of the year award in our league?"

After getting his OPS to a season high .723 last week Tork is now back below .700 while being in the midst of a 2 for 24 with no extra base hits slump. I swear anytime he starts to look like he turns a corner he goes on these stretches where he just looks absolutely dreadful. I get players will have highs and lows throughout the season but boy are his lows extremely low.
