Also not only was she a first time owner but we were also right in the middle of the pandemic, when she took over we weren't really even sure if or what the 2020 season might look like so she may have not wanted to throw a brand new regime into that unknown and instead just play it out with what we have and start fresh the following season.

Its sad to see the guy who has arguably the most famous sports call in US history with the Miracle on Ice finish being reduced to a joke due to his lack of enthusiasm. Maybe if you're hell bent on being an announcer to you die you should have to be one in a sport like golf or even baseball where the fans don't expect as much emotion out of you.

I'm sure most people know this but for those that don't, we would atleast receive draft compensation if Glenn leaves since he is a minority. I believe SF got atleast 1 third rounder and possibly more when Mcdaniel left. I of course would rather keep Glenn but atleast we would get some consolation prize.

Granted Sauce maybe one of those generational type dbs but besides him, Surtain last year and Woolen this year helped transform their respective defenses almost immediately. The thought of potentially getting two of those type of players just really intrigues me.

If Anderson and Carter are off the board and we do end up trading down would you consider doubling up on CBs with our first 2 picks?
-
The Jets owner said something to the effect that they will pay whatever it takes to get a qb so I wouldnt be surprised if they end up with Brady, Lamar or Geno.

I definitely want them to upgrade their backup qb position one way or another. I don't like the thought of being one Goff injury away from being screwed. I atleast want somebody that can help us tread water for a month or 6 weeks if Goff has that type of injury. If that guy can lead us to a 2-4 record vs. 0-6 that could be the difference between winning the division or making the playoffs and not.
-
Unfortunately I'm not counting on Levi for anything, I think at best he may provide a good play here or there mixed with a bunch of injury plagued moments but more than likely his career will just be a lost cause. Not all draft picks are going to hit and this one appears to be a rare whiff on Holmes part.

Goff was a victim of his and his teams immediate success under him. When you have that type of immediate success people expect you to just getting better but progression isn't always linear, sometimes you take steps back before taking 2 steps forward and hopefully that is what Goff is doing now.

For selfish reasons I'm certainly glad Johnson is back but for his own sake I hope this ends up not biting him in the butt cause head coaching jobs aren't easy to get and when you're in line for one you probably should take it unless of course that isn't your end goal. I'm sure there are some coordinators/coaches out there that may not have the desire to be the Captain and are content just being 2nd in command and maybe Johnson is one of those. BTW I don't know why I didn't realize this until just hearing it on the radio but I never realized that Johnson was originally a Patricia hire in 2019 and Campbell kept him aboard when he took over. For some reason I just assumed he came with DC, so I guess Patricia did do something right for the organization.

They give up very few pressures let alone sacks, have one of the stronger run games in the league, are great in short yardage, I mean what else is there? Maybe there are just a ton of depth in offensive line this year so there are a bunch of guys that are even better. Either that or they feel that other players are to credit for those aforementioned successes and not the OL.

ESPN has article out ranking the 100 most valuable players in football last year based off various metrics. Goff came in at number 15 overall and 7th highest qb, the only other 2 Lions to make it were ARSB at 43 and Hutch at 80. Surprised no offensive lineman made it especially Sewell but apparently the line wasn't as good using the metrics they used as they appeared to us.

If we did go the qb route Richardson would probably be my preferred choice not just cause of his upside but I like the fact he is a completely different qb than Goff. I think we could use him sparringly early on in his career in RPO sets to compliment Goff and throw defenses off. Much like UM did with JJ and Cade the previous year and SF was doing early this year with Lance and Jimmy G. This way Richardson gets some game experience without throwing him straight into the fire or alienating Goff.
-
I'm of the belief that you can always trade up down the road if/when you're ready to move on from Goff. It will of course cost more draft capital but if you get the qb you really want at a time when you really need him then it'l would be worth it. No need drafting one early now when you're likely not going to need him for atleast 2-3 years anyway.

Sounds like Staley is keeping his job in LA since it was announced they fired Lombardi but nothing about him. It makes me wonder if that was the job Harbaugh was holding out for but once he caught wind that Staley would be safe he suddenly decided to finally commit to Michigan?
-
Sounds like he finally committed to staying.

Between Shanahan, the offensive line and guys like Deebo, CMC, Kittle and Aiyuk who are masters of not only getting open but running after the catch he definitely is in the perfect situation for him. I watched him a few times this year and when guys get open or on crossing patterns where a guy has a step on the defender and Purdy can lead him with the throw he is damn good. Of what I watched of him there weren't many plays where they show a replay of a guy wide open and he didn't throw to him, he's good at going through his reads. Of course it's still only been a half year and as impressive as he has looked if you're good enough to make it to the NFL you're good enough to play well for a couple months if everything clicks. We'll have to wait and see if he can continue to play like this for the long haul.

Not that QBR is the be all end all stat for QBs but just by going by that there were only 7 QBs with a 60 or higher grade including Goff at number 5, last year there 12 and the year before that there were 16 so going by that there are more and more teams getting worse QB play so yeah you would think there's going to be near half the teams in the league in the market for a QB this year.
-
Brock Purdy's strengths coming out of college was he could go through his reads, place the ball well and had good poise. He didn't have the ideal physical attributes nor howitzer of an arm that teams seem to overrate which is why he barely was drafted. But he is the type of guy you can win with if you have the supporting cast around him specifically good O-line and players that can create space like he has in SF. So yeah I agree, if you have the pieces around your QB you can win with guys that are only "game managers".

Genuine question what is the track records in terms of young OCs becoming Head Coaches? I know that is the trend the past several years but how many of these guys have had actual success after being a HC?

What was really amazing about that comeback is that the Jags did it without forcing a single TO or doing something crazy like converting an onside kick. The defense just shutdown the opposition and they drove down the field every time. Gotta give credit to Lawrence for bouncing back after that terrible start but also to the Jags defense, not only for what they did in the 2nd half but how they didn't let things get even worse in the 1st half. The offense turned the ball over 5 an times giving the Chargers great field position each time and another short punt that gave LA the ball near FG range so theoretically they could've given up 42 points there but instead they held them to 17 on those possessions. Major difference.

Jags complete the comeback on a last second FG! Unbelievable collapse by SD and comeback by the Jags!

30-28 now with 5:30 left. LA ball on their 25.
