I would love to get Richardson, he is definitely a risk so I don't think I could take him with our first 2 picks but if he could be had in the late 1st or 2nd I think he would be worth the gamble. I mentioned before but I would love to see how a more mobile QB could do in our offense and they don't get much more mobile than Richardson. I was watching some of the game tonight and there was one play where he seriously pushed the pile like 10 yards, it was freaking insane, never seen a QB do that before so he's deceptively strong as well.

The Red Sox won the World Series a year before he got there, he inherited a WS team and a then number 1 farm system in baseball and then he had to spend a half million on the best bat(s) and starter available in baseball, he won that WS off the backs of people before him and his owners pockets. The Phillies it took him spending nearly 3/4 of a billion dollars on FAs to get there, and even then they only won 80 some games in the regular season.

Week Twelve: Buffalo Bills (7-3) @ Detroit Lions (4-6)
RandyMarsh replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
The Lions played a road game on Sunday and had to travel back on a short week too. Yes their qb is dinged but he's been this way for awhile now and yeah Von Miller got hurt but players get banged up and leave games early all the time, it sucks but that's how it goes. So no the Bills weren't 100% but they were no where near as bad as the Lions since the strength of the Lions was essentially negated due to missing their guards. -
I mentioned it in the game thread but I wouldn't mind them going with two non QBs with their first picks and either trading up in the late 1st/early 2nd or just using their 2nd depending on how things play out on Hendon Hooker or Anthony Richardson. They're by no means sure things but I think their running ability could excel in this offense and if they do end up being busts it's not as critical as if they were top 10 picks.

It's a ways away but as of now I wouldn't mind seeing us use our two likely top 15 picks on non QBs then maybe trading up for a Hooker or Anthony Richardson in the late first if need be. Both raw and have bust potential but at that point could be worth the risk, could be perfect for our offense. -

I'd like to see our offense with a mobile QB, with our O-line I think having a guy that you can run an RPO offense through could be deadly. -

The Bills have played the Rams(week 1 before all their injuries), Vikings, Titans, Dolphins, Ravens, Chiefs and no team scored more against them than we did and they got their number 1 CB back for this game as well. We're missing half our offensive line, have St. Brown and a bunch of castoffs at WR, a banged up Swift and castoff Williams at RB yet we had our way with them only needing to punt once, yet the "coaching sucks". lol it's laughable. -

People say Goff is a terrible QB, they say our RBs suck, our best WR is a "slot receiver" yet somehow we're in the top 5 in offense? Explain that if the coaching sucks? Our defense was undermanned to begin with now we're missing arguably our 3 best defenders yet we held a Bills team to below average yards and points but again the coaching sucks according to some people. -

RandyMarsh replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
Yup exactly! Even if you want to say he messed up the clock management here(I still don't think he did) the fact is that clock management is a small part of being a coach and he had an undermanned Lions team in the game right to the end thanks to some of the decisions he and his coaches made. If he "played by the book" in the first half we would've had two FGs instead of 2 TDs, but do people remember that? No. Yeah we had that stupid roughing the passer penalty on Bryant but outside of that how many egregious penalties or penalties in general did we have the whole game? We're playing through the whistle without committing dumb penalties or committing dumb penalties in general, we're not nearly blowing as many assignments as we did in years past and we're fighting to the very end. All those things are signs of great coaching and mean far more than clock management. -
I don't think you can win through FA just cause usually by the time you sign a guy to FA he is on the downward trend of his career and isn't all that good. The Phillies made the WS almost soley based on their FA signings of Harper, Realmuto, Wheeler, Schwarber, Castellanos among others but they got elite production from them aside from Nick. If you can manage to do that you can win no matter what the "value" is but the problem is that is extremely unlikely.

I was genuinely surprised that he went for the FG, looking back I think if I had to question anything that decision may have been it. Yeah Badley made it but it's not like he is Jason Hanson or Tucker, that was a 51 yard FG with all the pressure on you. I'd give him 50/50 chance at best of making it and even if he does best case scenario is OT. -

RandyMarsh replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
Yeah a straight run was no guarantee, I can't remember how far a way it was but I probably would've went for a sneak, keep in mind that earlier in the drive on a 3rd or 4th and short(can't remember what down) they gave it to St. Brown on the sweep instead of handing it off. Without our starting guards we just weren't creating much holes inside. -

RandyMarsh replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
That's what I would've done and it was definitely the safer play but if you truly want to go for the win you're not going to get a better look at a TD than that play right there. That should've been an easy pitch and catch. -

RandyMarsh replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
That is true also it doesn't give you a good idea of what Goff actually saw, since St. Brown is like 5'10 and he has 6'5 linemen right in front of him, he may have not even had a view of him but it also shows how wide open Chark was on the outside and why he took that risk. -

Also I think it's worth pointing out yeah the defense let us down on that last possession(even though I would argue that it took a throw that 2 people on this planet could've made to get it done) but think about where we were a month and a half ago? We couldn't force Geno Smith to punt once yet we forced a Josh Allen Bills team to punt 4 times in one half today. The defense and team is playing better as the year goes on and that is what you want to see. -

Another thing to consider in regards to that 3rd down throw, if it was on Goff and he made that choice I wonder if A. he thought it may have been 2nd down or B. assumed they would be going for it on 4th so he thought it was worth taking a shot before presumably sneaking it for the 1st on the next play. -

But it also brings up the possibility of scoring "too early". -

30 seconds and 2 timeouts is plenty of time, in fact I dare say that is the perfect time if you want to score and leave no time on the clock. -

RandyMarsh replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
I still don't think the clock management was bad it was just that 3rd down decision. We had our timeouts so time was never going to be factor, if we sneak it and pick up that 1st down we would've been in perfect position time wise. -

So if they were in FG range and played for the win and turned it over you wouldn't have came on here and bitched about how stupid they were for not taking a FG and going to OT at home? -

I agree, that was my main gripe but for all we know that could've been on the QB, Goff may have saw single coverage at the line and decided to try to go for the kill. -

Don't agree with that 3rd and 1 throw but hey if it was completed everybody would be jumping for joy but otherwise I don't know how anybody could say they were outcoached. Buffalo is one of the 2 most talented teams in football and we're in the bottom half if not bottom third and were starting backups at several key positions yet still hung in there to the end. That doesn't happen if you were out coached during the game. -
