Week Fourteen: Minnesota Vikings (10-2) @ Detroit Lions (5-7)
RandyMarsh replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
Between Jamo and Pashal essentially not playing yet this year, the 2 1sts and 2 2nds next year we will basically be adding 6 1st and 2nd round picks to the roster we have been playing this year. -
Lol at the typo/autocorrect on arguably the biggest news story/signing you're gonna get all offseason. Terrible timing.
-
I can hear the words now. "With the 2nd pick in the 2023 NFL draft the Detroit Lions select..."
-
I also wonder if the appeal of basically being penciled in as the starting SS everyday if he wants was more appealing to him, he can get that in Philly but with Tatis at SS, he would likely be sharing time there at best and considering they have a few other talented infielders as well he may have basicslly played the role of super utility guy. Yeah he'd play everyday but it very well may have been a different position every night.

Heyman says that Turner turned downed a guarantee $342 million(1 mill more than Lindor) from the Padres to sign with the Phils for 300. No idea what the terms or years were but if true that is crazy to leave that much money on the table especially coming from a contending team in a desirable location.

As expected I turn on Afternoon Sparty radio with Valenti and were not talking about the Lions play since they're playing well, or Michigan's matchup in the playoffs nope of course its the Mazi Smith thing. Its killing him and fellow UM/Lions hater Rico Beard that UM and the Lions are looking good so they got to highlight the one negative thing they could find about them.

Kate Upton said that the Yankees made Verlander a higher offer than the Mets but Verlander didn't want to play for them.

Likewise, in the past it felt like we were kept in the dark about the progress of guys. Btw I see no mention of Turnbull so I assume he's good to go now? Based on your normal tj timeline he certainly should be.

The fact that people like me at first thought there was a chance it could be real speaks to how special Steph is, if it was any other person the planet Id instantly scream fake but Steph is the out of 8 billon where you atleast think there is a possibility it could be real. I'll never put anything past that guy.

I guess the Jimmy G injury is not as severe as first thought and he avoided the devastating lisfranc foot injury. I haven't heard if he is out for the season but if he is it sounds like he will certainly be back by the start of next one.

Honestly looking bad from a scoring perspective perhaps we were too harsh on them early in the year. No they weren't good or even average for that matter but outside of the Seattle debacle they didnt have any real egregious performances. At the time we weren't happy about 38 to the Eagles but now while still not being good doesn't look like an abomination like it did at the time. Giving up 30 to the Commanders wasnt good but we were up 22-0, if the scores were reversed and we did that people would just say it was because Washington got to conservative on defense and let us have easy scores so maybe that is what happened with the defense that game..

Lol was just coming to post the same clip. This can't be real can it? It looks legit to my untrained eye and if it is that's one of the most insane things I have ever seen.
-
Yeah even with Staff back next year they are likely going to be terrible, yeah they still have some studs but they no depth and the spots that aren't studs aren't very good. Makes you wish we couldve squeezed one more 1st out of them cause I think they'll be picking in the top 10 again and if they suffer some key injuries like this year could have a legit shot at number 1.

Im apathtic about taking a qb,if they see a guy they like early and they take him Ill be ok with it and trust Holmes same with taking more of a flyer like a Richardson. The only reason I'm not completely against taking a qb in light of Goff and the offenses play is that I'm not completely convinced that its cause of him or if its more of a Ben Johnson thing and if he leaves us to go elsewhere in the offseason will Goff's play revert back to the 15-22 range of QBs instead of borderline elite like he is now?

Anthony Richardson officially declares for the NFL Draft.

Yeah I agree. When asked why OSU and not Bama the Chairman brought up OSU's wins against PSU and ND as better than anything Bama did and he seemed to downplay OSU's loss to UM citing that it was only a 1 score game in the 4th so wasn't as bad as the final score indicated.
-
At first he just asked if the rematched played any possibility and the Chairmen gave the stock answer of no so Rece followed with something like "So you mean to tell me nobody in that room during the discussions brought up the fact that maybe we should avoid a rematch?" The guy again then repeated his same stock answer then finally he did the thing I said earlier that I hate and said something like "So if OSU played TCU you don't think that they would be favored to win?"
-
Kudos to Rece Davis for really pressing the CFP Chairman about the OSU/TCU seeding and if avoiding the UM/OSU rematch effected their decision at all.
