Got my booster today, had to get moderna though instead of pfizer like I got for my first 2 shots. Other than a sore arm for one night on my first shot I had no side effects at all with the pfizer so Im hoping it goes the same for the moderna booster.

McShay has us taking Howell with the Rams pick. Im on record of saying I don't want to take a qb this draft but with that said I do think Howell has the potential to be a steal and could end up being a franchise guy. Ive watched a couple of their games this year and he showed me that he could make all the throws, had great mobility but his decision making left alot to be desired. The thing is though that he has ZERO help this year and has been running for his life most of the time. In situations like that sometimes you feel like you need to force things. I can't say for sure if that has been his problem or not but if you are of the belief that the lack of talent around him has been his problem he could end up being a steal. Personally though I'm not sure I want to make that gamble.

Nothing the Lions have done in the past matters when it comes to the future, this is a completely different organization top to bottom. Does that mean they are going to be good? Who knows but there is no point in bringing up what their history is when the people in charge have had nothing to do with said history.

Yeah me too, I can definitely see the toaster in it but I like unique looking buildings like that.

Hopefully the language that had to be worked out and finalized was something to the effect of once he proves he is healthy and pitching well the Astros have to return him home to the Tigers for pennies on the dollar.

I've never seen a bear bounce around like that and of course the dog paying no attention to it makes it even funnier.

Dan Campbell and Coaching Staff Discussion Thread
RandyMarsh replied to Mr.TaterSalad's topic in Detroit Lions
I look at it as being no different than any other profession and in other professions there's always that one boss who manages to get employees to go the extra mile or be more productive even if the employee may not stand for any financial gain by doing so. -
Dan Campbell and Coaching Staff Discussion Thread
RandyMarsh replied to Mr.TaterSalad's topic in Detroit Lions
Yeah when people say things like "they love playing for the guy" it doesn't necessarily mean that they love his personality or that he is a nice guy ie the Belechick example but it means that they are willing to go above and beyond for the coach. Sometimes it is because they love the guy and he is a "player's coach" other times its out of respect, admiration and belief in the coach that they succeed if they go the extra mile like with Belicheck. Either way a coach that can get players to go all out no matter the situation for him is an incredibly valuable trait. -
I don't remember the Thames HR but I remember the other 3 vividly. I didn't witness the Pudge HR but I was down at the Detroit Racquet Club for a fundraiser for my Uncle, we were outside in a tent and you could hear the roar from the stadium. Went inside to check a TV and sure enough it was from Pudge's walkoff HR.

I was too young to experience the great Tigers teams of the 80s or atleast appreciate them anyways so up until 2006 really all I knew of Tigers baseball were terrible teams that's why that one was so special to me. I really didn't keep up with prospects at that time so I didn't know anything about guys like Verlander and Zumaya until reading a report from Peter Gammons. He was still working for ESPN at the time and he would do a write up of each team throughout Spring Training and I remember him saying something like "Out of all the pitchers I've seen thus far no pair of arms looked as impressive as Justin Verlander and Joel Zumaya", he then threw out a comp of Nolan Ryan for Verlander. So the home opener my buddy and I are waiting in line to use the bathroom and I said how Gammons compared Verlander to Nolan Ryan, a few people overheard me and said that is stupid and he probably won't amount to anything. Weird how you can remember such a random inconsequential thing but that little conversation is something I'll never forget.

I can't speak for all fans but for me personally it's not all about banners and Tshirts, it's the experiences you get along the way. Those several years the Tigers were good they didn't win the whole thing but I got so much enjoyment out of going to playoff games, watching big games with friends or just the nerves/butterfiles I got watching important games at home by myself. Same for any other sports team I root for including Michigan. Those experiences and memories are things that I won't ever forget and mean alot to me even if I never got to experience them win the whole thing.

Kiper moved Aidan to one as well with Ojabo up to 9th. BTW according to ESPNs FPI metric the Lions are now at only a 50/50 chance to pick 1st.

Isaac Paredes not the best shape of his life.

Lol I remember us all talking about this ab in the game thread. Nice to see that we weren't just being hyperbolic or reactionary due to it being a game thread.

That's why I said the jury was still out on him. I think the feeling was after all his wheeling and dealing last draft that we were in good hands and if we're patient he will rebuild this thing. While that may still hold true I don't think its something we should just assume, of course if the lottery Gods are good to us again and we end up with Banchero to pair with Cade it would be hard to screw up that rebuild even if Weaver is indeed terrible. -
Its ok to take a flyer on a 2 or 3rd round QB if you don't have a lot of holes but I don't think the Lions are in that position yet to take that risk. That's why Im reluctant to take one with the Rams pick as well, I want a guy that is viewed as more of a sure thing if I'm going to invest a precious early pick on a qb.

A total "which one of these things is not like the other".

If Paredes can unlock some power then I will definitely be more excited about him but as is he just doesn't make enough loud contact for me to get too excited about.

To me the jury should still be out on Weaver particularly with Bey's struggles this year and Stewart not progressing. Hayes has his moments and I'm not writing him off but there are a number of guys that he passed on that look better than him as well. The Grant signing may be a feather in his cap even if the timing of it doesn't match up with what our goals are at the moment but outside of that has he done anything that you could say was a great or savvy move? Serious question cause I really don't know. -
People have to understand that what you see a Head Coach do on the sideline is just small part of their job, perhaps even the least important part of it. Where Head Coaches make their difference is on the practice field and lockerroom and by all accounts that is where Campbell excels so even if you disagree with some of his in game decisions(despite the metrics saying Campbell was right) or if he makes a blunder like those back to back TOs a couple weeks ago that doesnt mean he's a bad Head Coach. You also got to keep in mind that this is his first year in this position, he wasn't even a coordinator before so I think it's fair to expect some growing pains. Any mistakes he makes on the sideline this year doesn't mean he's going to make them 2 or 3 years from now. Sometimes you have to be patient, the players love him and go the extra mile for him that is the most important thing give him time to work out some of the other kinks he may have. Edit: forgot about his time in Miami but my point still stands cause he's still relatively inexperienced in the position. We have seen countless situations where guys get better with experience.

The weather was terrible, like 50MPH winds at times.

The Pats are on the verge of beating the Bills despite only throwing 3 passes all game. I totally credit my boy Mac Jones for delivering the handoffs perfectly.

There are definitely some differences between all the players involved though. For one even though JJ was a 5 star recruit he was nowhere near viewed as highly as Henson who was viewed as a unicorn type prospect. Not just by Michigan fans but the national media a like. Just for one example I remember Kiper saying that if he didn't choose baseball there was a real chance he could've given Vick a run for the number 1 pick that year and that's saying something cause Vick as well was viewed as this generational prospect. Then as far as Cade goes, no he isn't going to be Tom Brady but going by where they were at their respective points I think Cade is probably viewed in higher regard. Unlike Brady, Cade was a sought after recruit and borderline 5 star guy, like the article said even schools like Bama offered him a scholarship and they don't do that for scrubs. Btw just gotta say the highlight of my HS Athletic career my "Al Bundy 4td in the city championship" if you will moment was going 1 for 3 with a double off Henson. That game was the closest I would ever come to playing in a big time game considering Henson drew monster crowds everywhere he went. Anyway the double came when I was late on a fb but I barreled it for a double just inside the 1b line. I should've asked for the ball after. Lol
