    I think the increase in travel teams, from a very young age, has increased the wear and tear on pitchers arms. My boys played in tournaments where opposing coaches were gaming innings limits to make sure their best pitchers threw more. I also think the increasing pressure on HS and College programs to win can lead to bad judgment/behavior.

    if you add a 6th starting pitcher to the rotation, how are you alleviating bullpen usage? Wouldn't it just result in fewer total innings per starter over the course of a season? Assuming that most starters only go 5-6 innings per start, aren't you still requiring the same amount of innings for the relievers?

    hard to put Olsen in Toledo after the season he had for us, but he would appear to be the odd man out. I suspect they would want him stretched out there vs. pitching in long relief with the big club. Nice problem to have if we have six healthy and deserving starting pitchers coming out of Spring Training.

    Or miss more bats. As I recall, the exit velocity on the 2nd injury was pretty high. He seems to give up a lot of hard hit balls, but someone more analytical and less lazy could prove me wrong on this.

    If they think Jung is likely be called up at some point, it would justify going with a Vierling/McKinstry platoon at 3B to start the season.

    Was Turnbull at $7-8M a bad option, compared to what Flaherty is getting? He must have really burned a bridge with Harris and Co.

    It might be true, but doubt McCosky knows anything of substance. If the Glasgow trade doesn’t go through, do the Dodgers come after Skubal?

    So, we’ve added Mark Canha Kenta Maeda Andrew Chafin Jack Flaherty It’s a legitimate offseason so far. I really don’t see much else happening, though would love to be pleasantly surprised.

    probably paying a slight premium to limit it to one year. very Lorenzen-like in the potential to get better than he has been lately. Good insurance. I'll allow it.

    Ohtani had contended all along that he wanted to play on a winner. With his deferral, they can now add the much needed pitching to round out that team.
