I like aways liked Baez and was ok with his signing. I still like him. Disappointed with tonights gaffe. Don't agree with taking him out. Public humiliation rarely works and often does not end well. Don't need to brew a soap opera. Better to take it behind closed doors. He's not the first player to forget how many outs there are. We need him producing and motivated and have a made a major investment in him.

I don't think Hinch is going anywhere nor do I think he should. But if Harris decides to replace him it won't bother me either. What I personally like to see in a manager that probably does not help or matter is a little fire and I think a young team might benefit. I think Hinch missed a grand opportunity to go off yesterday on the bogus interference call at third. Just let the team know, and the fans, that you really give a hoot and have their back. Even if it's superficial.

Yes compared to the rest of the roster. Upgrades are always welcome but until then I think they have the most "potential" or grant you "hope" we have.

yes currently it's not win today it's win the future. That's why you don't throw Winterger to the wolves and yes you can lose in the 8th or any inning but it's still better than the optics and emotion of a walk off loss.

I think we are in great shape with Harris running the show despite the miserable start. Trading relief pitchers made sense and the return, in my opinion, was outstanding. Having said that I really thought we would add one solid piece from free agency last year. Maybe Illitch mandated a small budget "until Midges $$" is off the books. As for the bullpen in hindsight we should have added a couple low cost veterans but again Harris did state " we will develop at the MLB level" and "we have to give innings and AB's to developing players ". What makes the bullpen so bad besides losing Chafin-Fullmer-Jimenez and Soto is the Cisnereo gamble went bad and Will Vest fell off a cliff and Breiske got hurt. Thats seven receivers from lat years pen. As for offense losing Meadows and Baez continued exasperating hitting combined with Greene ( .697 OPS) and Torks (.606 OPS) very tepid start says it all. And if our two young Pillars of hope don't produce runs, not just hard hit rate , we are toast. We have no choice but to play it our with Greene-Tork-Maton-Verling-Rogers-Carpenter and Badoo and hope for improvement. They all should play everyday. Period. Fit in the rest around them. Cut Schoop , bench Miggy, and with play Kreidler or send him down to play. Its bad and may get worse but Harris will improve the team..quicker if Illitch opens the wallet.

I’m just happy Wintenger didn’t pass out on the mound. Putting him in the ninth to face the 3-4-5 guys in the lineup on the road in the midst of a long losing streak is malpractice on Hinch’s part in my opinion. What a confidence killer.

I think it’s possible you are confusing clinical diagnosed anxiety with normal anxiety. It’s the brain not the geography.

I think we have had a starting pitching disadvantage every game but one this season.

Maybe we can get a third baseman like that Parades fellow. Best trade Al made was getting Candy and Parades but he misjudged who was the better player and then traded him because "the rebuild was over ".

It is starting to seem like Skull might be the only one assuming he returns to normal after his surgery. I used to think Wentz would be better than Manning but now I believe if that does come true then neither rather than both will be solid starters. Hopefully by seasons end that's not the case but as for controlling the strike zone it's not looking good.

So it seems that starting pitchers that can go a consistent 6 or 7..and 3 times through the order, are more valuable than ever ( which last years free agency prices paid showed) and those that can not are worth less than before since they are just long relievers for the most part. Which is what our entire starting staff are made of.

But doesn't more pitchers needed per game equal more opportunities to have one of them fail ? Kind of like Russian roulette ?

Anxiety is indeed very real. I have a child living with it. Top student A++ top of her class through Freshman year high school. Then in an instant can not attend school. Snap of the fingers. And society though improving is still way behind. Must be drugs. Must be a party kid etc etc. while us parents are just trying to get her out of her room. Scary. Drop out or forced out of school. Only patience in HUGE quantities can overcome this and some are worse than others in time.. 3 years time…she gathered herself. Online high school then community school and proud to say graduating this spring from University of Washington in economics. So Austin Meadows should forget about baseball until he has the time to recover. Maybe send him to Florida his home. Play home games only for Lakeland and work out without any pressure to return to Detroit. Trying to prove he’s worth the money or trade for Detroit while the team losses is futile for his condition. Or retire. He has a new baby and most likely a few million in the bank.
