yup. welcome to the nhl, rookie.

elmer getting an early promotion! he didnt look out of place against pittsburgh, just a little slow. btw, i wouldnt take a ton away from that pitt game. the penguins had the puck for a lot of the game but just couldnt find the net. the wings played a lot of smash and grab hockey and, for a lot of the game, had a lot of trouble simply exiting their own zone, not to mention getting into pitt's zone and maintaining possession. the pens had 9 power plays! tonights game should be different with the hawks sending the b team. although part of me thinks the b teams have a decent shot because they'll be trying to impress and trying hard while the a teams dont care because its a preseason game. something to think about. looking forward to edvinsson tonight. i want to see less casual puck play and less turnovers. more of a sense of urgency. i would also like to see him man the point on the power play. similarly, lets see if soderblum can be a top pp holmstrom type? id like to see more of soderblum on the pk too. i know he doesnt skate the best, but he has such a long reach and really good hands, he could pose some issues if he's up top using his length.

Week Three: Detroit Lions (1-1) @ Minnesota Vikings (1-1)
buddha replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
the game makes me sad that we lost, but i also think we're overreatcing just a bit. we lost a close game on the road where we were a td underdog. the vikings are not a bad team and the lions hung with them and should have won. and it wasnt a game they were behind all day and made a late push to make it close either, they were the better team for much of the day. that's progress. otoh, it should the warts on the team. they still dont have a significant pass rush other than bringing blitzes. the linebackers are still poor. they struggled to stop the run at times. they lost yet another important player to a season ending injury. the team is still young and growing. there are lots of teams that lost heartbreakers the last couple weeks, not just the lions. next week is pretty important. -

this game still makes me sad. -
cossa immediately gives up a goal on a nice play by rust. berggren was really good in that period. set up soderblum for an open net. got the puck into the zone and maintained possession for the 4th goal.

they got dominated, but that's to be expected considering who is on the wings and who pittsburgh is playing. zadina with some nice work to get the puck and was one on one with jarry and...shot it right him. kubalik with a bomb for the wings goal and he looks like their best player. lots of speed. soderblum is so freaking tall but is having a hard time keeping up. fell down once but still was able to get the puck to the net. not bad for a first period.

killian's shot - and lack of aggressiveness - looked the same in summer league.

ras finallyoves up to his status as a top ten pick and is centering the top line!

the battle for the bottom of the central continues! a titanic struggle between the resistsble force and the moveable object. america will once again turn her eyes to the midwest to view this amazing spectacle of incompetence, heights reached only in recent pittsburgh-cincinnati battles. -

they were doubling jefferson a lot. just like philly. no offense to okudah, he played well (for what we can see on the tv) but they went away from him because osborne and thielen had single coverage. -

i'm much more worried about the injuries than i am about a last second loss to the vikings on the road. next week is the real test. they should win that game. and last year the seahawks bitch slapped them. are they a different team? lets see. -
devin does a good job of that.

i love teasers but most sites dont offer them. a teaser is a bet where you take two lines and get better odds for each, but both have to hit for you to win. a teaser adds 6.5 to the line. for example, last week at game time jacksonville was +3 and detroit was +6. you could "tease" both games and get jacksonville at +9.5 and detroit +12.5. both have to win for you to win the best. i bet on draft kings and they dont do teasers. instead, you can do an "alternative line" for each game. that allows you to bet at a different line and increase your odds of winning, but as you increase the line, your pay out goes way down. but if you bet three of those lines together, you can still get "ok" odds. on my parlay i took atlanta at +8.5, san fran at +7.5, and jax at +14. all three had to hit (and they did!). but i was only getting +125 on the bet so i didnt win that much. but i only bet $5 or $10 at a time. never lose very much but never win very much.

neither of them are very good. pats dont have a ton of talent. good thing they drafted a guard with their first round pick this year. -

well, he said swift was more explosive and you came back and posted stats showing jamal williams had a similar yards per carry. why would you post that stat after he posted what he said? -

hutch was getting pressure when they schemed him pressure: up the middle on a stunt. he hasnt been able to get around the edge in any of the three games he's played. -

yeah, goff didnt lose them this game, but he didnt make the plays to win it either. they - like almost every nfl team - needs a playmaker at qb, not a caretaker. goff was fine today. at some point they need better than fine.
