  1. Agree completely. Long term, a top corner is low on the needs IMO - maybe only above starting QB, RB (for 2 years at least) top 3 WR, and LB- maybe safety depending on if they resign Branch. No reason at all to trade draft capital for a top corner. Reed will be back this year. Arnold is better than the refs are giving him credit for, Robertson is starting quality. They have depth to weather this in the short term. Hopefully, Rakestraw will be healthy next year and they will likely add more depth in the offseason/draft. Definitely a waste IMO to trade 2 top picks for a CB, especially a high priced (or soon to be high priced) one with the other contracts we have/need to do.
  2. Completely disagree about the need to trade him if he isn’t going to sign. (I don’t believe he is) For one, history shows the trade haul for 1 year of an Ace, no matter how dominant, isn’t as massive as many seem to believe it will be. And no matter what happened at the end, we have shown we should be competing next year again. The odds of that happening decrease significantly without Skubal as like you said, our other rotation options aren’t much different than now and Jobe won’t be fully recovered at least at the start of the season if at all in 2026. People that complain about our trade deadline, but think we need to move Skubal if he won’t sign baffle me. He is one of the few true pitchers who can basically win a series. A full season of him on a team with aspirations of advancing in the playoffs and a comp pick are worth a considerable amount, and IMO more than the likely packages offered.
  3. And while only throwing 5 pitches on Tuesday, Sabrowski pitched both Tuesday and Wednesday and threw 18 pitches today. So he isn't likely available for much if any tomorrow.
  4. Me too. And while I know they had to win this game, you would think a 5 run lead in the 9th would have been reason to make sure you could have Smith available tomorrow - unless of course he wasn't going to be anyway after warming up. At least Vest and Finnegan should be available for us. Only one questionable is Holton, but even he is likely to be available.
  5. If Dingler doesn't slow down, he scores before the play at 3rd
  6. You also had Baez going to 2nd. If the throw is even slightly off, or his right hand hits the bag, or replay doesn't see conclusive evidence (which I think should have been the case) 2 are in scoring position, and even a wild pitch scores 1 of them (which we've seen Naylor already not block well) Like MichiganCardinal said, if Dingler doesn't slow down, he scores before the play at 3rd.
  7. I disagree. I like the agressive baserunning. It took a perfect throw to make it close and even then it was questionable. The advantage was we would have had 2 runners in scoring position and a base hit makes it a 4-1 game. They won the most games in the league over a 162 game stretch from last August by being agressive - don't change it now in that situation - just like Cambell shouldn't change it early in a game in the playoffs. If it's the 9th inning, same situation, then it's a different story.
  8. in case his spot would come up in extras.
  9. Yeah, but he had like 300 defensive runs saved this year against us 🤪
  10. I agree, but as noted above (or on the other thread), we are tied for the lead in sacks through 4 games. I don't know where we stand in total pressures, but other than in GB, we are doing reasonable in finishing off.
  11. If Skubal pitches Sunday, he would be pitching on 3 days rest for game 3 when most of the season he’s been on 5 days rest.
  12. See the quote from Hinch above
  13. He was signed to the practice squad.
  14. I don’t find it hard to argue that Greene should be the one sitting right now against lefties rather than Carpenter
  15. Which means the odds for a first round bye are actually in this teams favor
  16. UCLA isn't leaving the Big Ten - That was a false rumor made up to slam UCLA- see the "source" in the tweet.
  17. With no Mckinstry (who usually is the LH that plays against lefty's) it's either Meadows defense, or Sweeney, Carpenter, or Keith.
  18. I agree. I expect us to sign a mid level FA, but I think our best options out of that bunch to find solid #2 and #3 to slide in behind Skubal are Olsen, SGL, Melton, a Flaherty who gets back to 2024 consistency, Mize taking another step and Jobe returning. Other than trading for Ryan, (which I would be open to) I’d rather keep our prospects and not spend big $ on a FA starter.
  19. None of which were traded likely due to the asking price.
  20. Again if anything it’s a player or 2, not clubhouse issues. And Baez at least (of the 2) has been willing to do whatever the team asks positions wise.
  21. This is one part of the NFL salary cap that took me a bit to comprehend, the fact that they can rollover unused cap money. I don't think it is in any other sport that has a salary cap. It is a huge way to benefit teams in planning for high cap seasons without having to frontload deals/etc when they have space. By Holmes keeping the cap space this year, it helps next year as you say, but it also leaves him room this season at the deadline if injuries happen at a specific position. There is definitely no benefit to overpaying a player like Smith just because you have the cap room in 2025.
  22. Exactly. There is a major difference between "Clubhouse issues" and a frustrated player. Obviously there will be frustrated players throughout, but to even talk about clubhouse issues with this club, all leading from Passans speculation on Flaherty opting out, is comical IMO.
