  1. FYI, I think most of the posters on here, especially ones like Lee look at those same sites you do, and we all see the same things, no matter what the metrics say, you have numerous cases like Vaughn and Tork. It does mean they will likely be solid major leaguers, but even the top metric guys usually have multiple seasons before they become consistent "studs". Thinking all 3, even 2 of the 3 are going to be that within 2 seasons, let alone 1, is very wishful thinking. FYI, the metrics love our current prospects including Lee and Rainer also.
  2. I’m sorry, but I think you completely overate other teams prospects. Did you see what Painter did this year? He realistically has a chance in 5 years to have 1 season 80% as good as Skubal did this year. He’s a really good pitching prospect, but probably rated better last year (like Jobe). The league is littered with top pitching prospects who never become what Casey Mize was this year. I’d love to have Painter in our system, but he (or the Mets pitchers) is far from the sure thing you act like he is.
  3. I think Dingler, Carpenter, Greene, and Tork are above average and would be regulars (500 plus PA’s) on most playoff teams. Obviously if they resign Torres he would be also. And I think McKinstry would likely get 400 plus PA’s on a lot of this year’s playoff teams as well. This team as constructed with Skubal are the favorites for the Central in 2026. By 2027 McGonigle and Clark should be here (McGonigle likely in 2026). Who know maybe Lee or Anderson will surprise also. Not to mention the other prospects at AA and below.
  4. This is where we extremely disagree. I don’t think keeping Skubal and losing him sets us up for 10 years of baseball purgatory. Our system is much better than the Angels you keep referencing. They also had/have their end of career Miggy.
  5. When they are to 2 top 10 teams by a total of 4 points, they should - as long as they win out.
  6. Of the 3 you mention, I actually think Tork has the best opportunity as it currently stands to fit Harris' mold, especially when the challenge system is in effect. I think his walk rates will increase significantly and hopefully his eye that is currently almost too good actually becomes an asset.
  7. I think there is close to zero chance we pursue Tucker. Unless we trade Greene or Carpenter, our corner OF are occupied, and being a LH bat, he doesn't help those splits. Add in the fact that I think he still gets 8-10 years when all is said and done, I don't think he's an option. I see them making a play for Kim or another shot at Bregman (think it's doubtful) before I see them pursuing Tucker.
  8. Yeah, no thanks for me to any of those. They definitely make the team worse next year, which if this was 2023 or even deadline 2024, it’s a different story, but where this team is now, no thank you.
  9. Look at what Snell got and look at his number of starts. Or even Glasgow
  10. Well, the Mariners are glad they have Suarez tonight.
  11. And Maeda’s stats prior to signing were pretty good. Flaherty before first signing they weren’t and it worked great. This year his prior year numbers were really good and it didn’t work out as well (although his metrics were still good) I do wish the Tigers would have added Jax or Bednar to go with Finnegan and would have been willing to go big on Joe Ryan, but I’m glad they didn’t trade for Suarez (or Bednar) if it would have cost Melton. A number of people would like us to go after Cease (I’d be happy with that), but based on numbers and metrics, is he much different than Flaherty? Personally ,I’d like us to have both if we can keep Jack for the qualifying offer.
  12. But you just said only the results on the field matter. The results on the field show the Tigers got one of the best relievers traded and the only position players that performed better than who was on their team didn’t fit i.e Naylor.
  13. So then the Tigers shouldn't have traded for any of the names you listed in your earlier post?
  14. I doubt he leaves, but $15 mil isn’t much of a buyout for PSU to pay if they really want him and is willing to pay him $13 mil/yr
  15. The casinos didn’t do that over $450k.
  16. Thank you. I'm surprised they did that with Urquidy since his option seemed reasonable for a flyer at SP - especially when they gave Cobb what they did. I guess if either one is chosen, it means they can then protect someone else.
  17. So does a successor contract mean they will be eligible for the Rule 5 draft?
  18. If we didn't have someone we could trust in Skubal going in game 2, I think there is a good chance Hinch handles the bullpen different in game 1 and we don't win that one. I also think Seattle handled it more desparately which gave us more opportunities to see their leverage relievers which finally helped us in game 4 (and maybe Kerry in game 5. Conversely, with no Skubal in game 5, Hinch may have let Mize go longer in game 4 which may have helped us get a couple extra innings out of some guys in game 5) We definitely lost because we didn't hit well enough, but the team that won actually scored 1 less run in the series than us and couldn't score more than 2 runs for 14 innings of game 5 either.
  19. Rather than the Lions leaking it, I wonder if someone in the Lions organization saw it and passed it along. It seems like something Campbell/Morton may have done out of humor - like out of the group of trick plays they had, they picked that one. Also, Goff could have been the first scorer on a sneak or a scramble - not as likely as Mahomes obviously, but more likely than on the play in question. So it's not necessarily true that the better was expecting him to catch a pass for a TD. It's more likely the gambler has a problem and was looking for a huge win opportunity.
  20. It isn't the percentage of games in the season that matters as much as the percentage of games in the postseason when he can pitch in 33-43% in any given series and affect many of them he doesn't as both Hinch and the opposing manager knows he is likely to give a strong outing and they make decisions other in other games based on that (i.e. game 1 of the Seattle series).
  21. Agree completely. Add in the practice squad signing of Fuller, I think we can weather it until Arnold and Reed get back (barring any major setbacks for either)
  22. That's a bit of a revision on Smith. Smith actually performed very well for us and was one of the highest rated players traded at the deadline. They actually went out and got the best available player at edge.
  23. Mason Miller had many years of control and the Padres believe he can be a front of rotation starter. The Padres don’t trade De Vries if Miller is only signed through 2026.
  24. I tend to agree with Tiger337. I do think they value Ibanez more than Malloy on the major league club and will try and trade Malloy, but if they don't I could see Ibanez dfa'd, especially with being eligible for arbitration.
