  1. Despite the odds I think anybody at this point expecting to make the playoffs is setting themselves up for disappointment. Yes, I think it's a success but that's due to the injuries and record despite them. I am disappointed in a few players that brings it down somewhat. But this season, despite a couple of bad weeks here and there in May and June, it's been an enjoyable run. Pretty consistent.
  2. If we are talking 2 or 3 people, then maybe I could entertain the idea, but once you get past that.... no way that many people keep quiet. It's similar to the JFK assassination theories. It's easy to work backwards and look at points in time to say you can plan it.... but going in real time and assuming everything happens that way is not logical. In other words you can recreate the past but you can't predict the future which is what conspiracy theories often require us to do. (Yeah, our patsy Oswald will get a job at a building months in advance that will be on the yet unannounced and unplanned motorcade route, wow, how convenient. Then when we send Jack Ruby to snuff him out before trial, he'll run a bunch of errands in the morning with his little dog, drive all over town, then show up right at the moment Oswald comes out, not a moment too late, even though Oswald will make a last minute request to go back upstairs to get a sweater, whew, glad that happened or else Jack would have been late)
  3. That's not true. It's nothing like Project 2025. Presidents hire district attorneys and they are confirmed by the Senate. They serve during their term, like cabinet officials. https://news.utdallas.edu/social-sciences/political-science-study-questions-narrative-in-2006-u-s-attorney-dismissals/
  4. I think this one is big in an "inside baseball" kind of way.
  5. I'm seeing some lefties suggest something was up too....
  6. The "it was staged" thing is bizarre. Here's what is required for that: 1) Find someone willing to die by getting shot in the head by a sniper 2) Arrange a location for an event that allows this person to set up (obviously this happened) 3) Get the buy in from local law enforcement and perhaps the USSS so that this person isn't dealt with sooner. Everybody has to keep quiet and not leak. 4) That someone has to be so good of a shot to only nick or barely miss the President without killing him. 5) All of these participants have to agree that innocent people can die 6) During the investigation this remains under wraps
  7. I find most facebook baseball groups are made up of old timers who complain about today's game. They want just two leagues with no divisions, no DH, no wild card teams, pitchers to throw 120+ pitches a game (back when pitchers were real men b/c Nolan Ryan), no batting gloves/sliding gloves/body armor, no shifts, Hank Aaron is the real HR champ, no flashy play (read: too many Mexicans), and you must pledge that Dale Murphy and Don Mattingly should be HOFers.
  8. I still dont know what Bush was supposed to do at that moment that would have satisfied his critics. The criticism was the equivalent of Trump Deragement Syndrome. You have children reading to a President who probably practiced that for a couple of days. Let them have some final moments of peace before the world as they knew it changed forever. People were just piling on.
  9. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a coin flip somewhere in a situation too complicated. The way they've condensed the playoffs with the new wild card I don't think there's room for tiebreaker games. But that's just a guess. I'm not looking it up.
  10. I went to Monteros first start this year and 2 others and I won’t pretend to be an expert on pitching but I always liked what I saw in spurts. Tonight’s game was a fun one to be at.

  13. I hope but I believe the media and most pundits have different rules. Whatever Trump does will be likely disregarded.

  15. I saw a lot of cops around in the two times I went to Mexico City 20 years ago. Once I got to a corner without a cop, I turned around and went back.
  16. I think they are just selling the current situation rather than saying "Well the guys we tried stink..." Always talk up your current group as if that's what you wanted. Until you move them. Be "happy" for who you have for the "ball club".
  17. I fully expect them to lose 2 of 3 to the Rockies and take 2 of 3 from the O's.
  18. Do you think it's a strategy or just how things worked out based on who was available, who was here, and who has been performing?
  19. season tickets are a big part of a base in attendence and I know there was a big drop over the last few years. That kind of thing lags with team performance and I'd also throw in the Lions success could have made some people make a choice, especially people with both as the LIons raised their prices this year. I could easily see people saying "Well I'll forgo my $2000 investment on the Tigers, go when I want to, and save that money for a couple of Lions games on the secondary market or a playoff game.
  20. I don't think so. Red Wing games get out around 9:20. I agree that games going past 9:30 is an issue with kids in school but I also think at that point in the year those with kids in school that are concerned about being out late already don't go. Kids involved in activities already are lost since they have those things to attend to. The only time I think the 6:40 start times make sense are the games in the beginning of the year when cool weather is an issue. You are already fighting it so give yourself some options. It can get pretty cold in April by 8:30 pm so yeah, get in and get out. But in September when it can still be only light jacket weather at night it's not a problem. It's not until October and the playoffs when you find yourself in hat/gloves season. During the playoff runs I've worn shorts and T shirts to playoff games and dressed like it's the arctic. That's life in the midwest this time of year.
  21. And I’ll add the earlier start times combined with the pitch clock… that means even if you decide to go the game could be over by 8:30. For some people that’s an hour and a half if they can’t get there until close to 7. At that point why bother.
  22. I will be at the Tiger game but thanks to 6:40 start times and the pitch clock I will probably be home in time. I’m sure I will but Sue is right. One candidate will give coherent answers that address the question. The other will just go off on a tangent and ignore and the moderator and press will pretend nothing happened and it’s all normal.
