  1. All this talk about my hometown means I have to extend an invite now to anyone to come have a drink or sandwich with me. My treat. My brewery doesn’t serve food but we can visit my friend Sam who will give us more food than we can eat.
  2. From having friends run for council I learned that showings in primaries can be misleading in terms of passion. That 5,000 number could be a maximum. For example in a crowded primary for 7 council seats with 17 candidates on the ballot you would see a crowded and mixed field with everyone around 1 to 2 thousand votes. But you can’t assume the top vote getters carry over. Someone like me runs then all my friends and family vote for me. That’s all I got. I tap out. Come the general then the incumbents pick up the non primary voters who know their names. A fifth place finisher in the primary can be the top finisher in the election. The passion behind that uncommitted vote drew them to the polls. Those who care about Gaza voted. That’s their top line number now.
  3. If I were a worker and heard that I would give them the nonpartisan because you don’t announce to the worker who you are voting for. They aren’t there to help you fill out the ballot. I didn’t know there was a nonpartisan ballot. They didn’t ask me. I was aksed Republican or Democrat. Then English or Arabic.
  4. “These people who butcher gays and restrict women don’t like these other people because they live here so we gotta be on their side” I mean… it kind of sounds like what white people were saying when bussing of blacks took place. “What are they doing here? Get them out. We don’t want them around”.
  5. How do you figure Israel is the wealthiest? Where do you rank Saudi Arabia? Turkey? UAE? They have higher GDP.
  6. Yes. I’ve been careful to not respond to his tweets because my son is a city employee under him.
  7. It’s going going to drop about 50 degrees in 30 hours.
  8. I’d bet Russia is behind Hamas. It helps them in Ukraine. Every time we help Ukraine the Arabs go ape ****.
  9. The left hold Israel to a higher standard. Why? Anti Semitism? Fear of getting slaughtered in a terrorist attack? Being patronizing, as in, “well they just don’t know any better. This is how they do things. Don’t judge. Even if it gets you killed” The Palestinians, via their governmen, punched Israel hard. Now they are getting punched back and whining about it. Why is the burden always on Israel to concede and give more? A child hostage is treated equally by the left as a terrorist hostage. It makes no sense and the left loses a lot of its moral high ground in this.
  10. Isn't a sign more about Hamas and Israel more than Biden? What exactly do you people think Biden does in this war? It's not his ****ing war. He didn't start it. He's not fighting it. You act like he's wanting all of this to happen and finally changed his mind because 10,000 people said something to him.
  11. I got my new blower in Dec 2021, when a huge storm was coming and my wife saw a news story about a 50 year old having a heart attack shoveling. So I got the last one at Lowe's. I've used it 4 times and two of those times was just to use it, the snow wasn't heavy or deep. Not once this year. When it did snow for that week here it was followed quickly by an ice storm so I go ahead of it and got the 2 inches or whatever out of the way. After that the ice was too lumpy. I want my $1000 back! I could have went to one of the Lions playoff games for that.
  12. I did. I was going to vote for Haley but then this nonsense came up.
  13. Yes he was.
  14. I was #550 on Friday afternoon, after a week of voting. I assume that means 550 voted before me? It ran until Sunday I believe. We had one central early location. So we will see how things play out here. My son works at the center and said anytime he went near the gym where it was set up he dind't see anybody except workers.
  15. The mayor here is very young. When he ran for the state house in 2016 he ran against the WWE Wrestler, Rino, a local.
  16. I think it has to do with the individual Arabs/Muslims and where they are from and when they got here. It's very tribal and you get people from Iraq going after Yemenis and all the while the Syrians and Lebanese look down on them because they've been here for couple of generations already. Probably the same way non whites look at conflicts in places like the UK between England and Ireland and Northern Ireland and Wales.... "Whats the matter with you people?" A real Hatfields and McCoys situation going on. Reliving old country beefs that go back decades and centuries.
  17. He was the same way when those Russians were in the Oval Office that one time. He looked totally like the beta to their alpha. Like Steve and Edie to their Frank Sinatra.
  18. A summary of the history of Dearborn voting in primaries and it shows how kooky the arab american vote can be.... also note the lack of women in the photo.
  19. You can’t murder people w/o retaliation. Stupid Biden.
  20. I tipped him. Not mad at him but the venue should advertise that their small place with horrible acoustics will be overtaken by John Denver and Johnny Cash songs for a few hours. It’s not on a stage. They just moved some tables around, so there’s less places to sit. 2/3 of the people can’t even see him because of the layout. It’s a brewery with a long narrow space. Nobody was really paying attention. Sorry but when it’s so loud you can’t hear the person across from you then it’s not good service. I mean a guy could be in there using a clear blower to clean the floors and “he’s working” is not a valid excuse. I have another place with vinyl night where people bring their records. That’s fun because you can still carry on a conversation
  21. But I thought he unconditionally wants war and to murder Palestinians
  22. A few weeks ago I told my boss while in a call “I have to go tomorrow to Flint to pick up Alex for a doctor appointment”. “eh… I don’t care. Whatever comes up can wait” obviously he cares about Alex… just meant I didn’t have to tell him or give the impression I was asking. Just do what you gotta do. The work will and always does get done.
  23. My wife now has people entering her department that could be our kids. She definitely sees a change. But she also noticed a change from those about 10-15 years younger than her that began about 10 years ago. Just a general "don't care" attitude. Do the bare minimum. But she also has a service attitude which is admirable but also makes her susceptible to being taken advantage of. She works for a large hospital. Many branches in the area. It's corporate. But she'll say things like "I don't want to take time off because my co workers will be busy" or "I saw an extra patient on the schedule that I wasn't assigned because they needed therapy and the person who should have done it went home". I get that attitude in a more entreprenuerial environment wher eyou have actual ownership. But she's just a number to them. It's a balancing act for sure. I have to remind her that this isn't church or school where we volunteer time to make sure the events run well and the kids/church/community get what they need. It's a business. The hospital can and should hire more staff, pay them better, etc. to make sure patients get their care. I work for a large company that treats us well, like adults, I never ever got harassed for needing time off or whatever. For them I don't mind going the extra mile or whatever. They treat us like family and I am grateful.
  24. In particular in MI you have the Karamano situation and split of the GOP. Will those nutjobs fall in line when Hoekstra is confirmed as the real head of the state party, if he's not been already?
