  1. 9-0 and 8-1 decisions are good. Of course Trump will say it means he's innocent and didn't do an insurrection. And I have some doubts that if CO had for some reason ruled Biden ineligible for something that the ruling would be 9-0 or 8-1. Alito and Thomas, and Gorsuch probably, would come up with a reason to sustain it.
  2. It will be 6-3 decision. I'm not telling you which way but I can see Barret/Chief/Kavanaugh siding with the libs, and I could just as easily see them siding with the other 3. But I suspect it will be the latter. No way a court with 6 conservatives will let "states rights" prevail.
  3. this is so true
  4. From my recollection the objections the GOP had was over embryonic stem cell research, not stem cell research in general. Not much of a distinction in my opinion as it's just a glob of cells but in their mind it is.
  5. In all seriousness... when you are at the level the Tigers are, mediocre, it doesn't take much to swing one direction or the other. I could see them getting breaks and winning 90. I could also see them losing 90.
  6. To follow up on that… if Romney had won in 2012 Trump would have run in 2016 as a D. Unless Romney didn’t run again.
  7. Im re-reading a book about Hollywood in the late 60s and 70s ( after seeing many of these films for the first time since I last read it) and this passage stuck out at me and I saved it. It’s Warren Beatty
  8. yeah I think the gaffes are already baked into it. He's always been this way, maybe it's his stutter as much as any other cognitive issues.
  9. what I think helped put him over the top in 2020 was his empathy and connecting with people directly.
  10. I believe what a debate can do for Biden is simply have him out there being President. He was inaugurated during covid. That restricted a lot of the ability to "be President". Use the pageantry of the office as an advantage. That's the draw of being an incumbent. Flying around in Air Force One and Marine One. RIding around in The Beast with the long caravan of security. Hearing Hail to the Chief played as he walks into the room. Yeah I know they don't do that during a debate itself but Biden needs to get out there showing that he's the President. He needs to exude the power of the office and show his competence.
  11. Doocy has changed over the last few months....
  12. well... American music is traced back to black men, sons of slaves probably, teaching white boys how to play the guitar on the front porch of the old country stores.... and that is where the blues birthed country music which then lead to.... everything.
  13. Good luck sister
  14. Was just thinking along these lines with Wayne Kramer dying. Ted Nugent had some very nice things to say about him and their history and friendship. Makes me wish Ted wasn’t the way he was because I like hearing his musical takes. Check out this article from Detroit Free Press: Ted Nugent and Wayne Kramer: An unlikely friendship, forged in Detroit soul https://www.freep.com/story/entertainment/music/brian-mccollum/2024/02/04/wayne-kramer-ted-nugent-friendship-detroit-music/72466031007/
  15. Besides the ****ty country music has, I think, two major award for that genre so not winning a grammy won't hurt them.
  16. A few years ago I made the decision that when I'm on the beach I am not "checking out" a woman if I can immediately tell she's under 40. Once I hit my late 40's I could not distinguish between 14 and 35. But what about if she looked like she had kids? Doesn't matter. She could be a mama with 3 young ones at the age of 19. To quote daddy bush, not gonna do it. Plus many of my friends now have kids approaching 40 and well... that's a deal breaker for me too. So if you are 40 and under, feel safe around me. I'm not ogling you.
  17. In this case I don't think so... they are trying to figure out what they are going to say and once they get it in their head then they resume. The beginning parts are pretty slow as if they are thinking about it. It could be a symptom of the patriarchy.... women have to talk faster before they get cut off by a man in the room. So that just gets passed down as how you normally talk. My father in law would talk really fast and he said it was because he was the youngest of 10 and had to do that in order to be listened to.
  18. according to the republicans we don't anymore. Something happened in the past week or so that made it go away.
  19. Then they own it. With that comes responsibility. Who needs that?
  20. I blame reality TV. the vocal fry. https://www.science.org/content/article/vocal-fry-creeping-us-speech I saw a clip of a black female comedian saying "White girls talk like they are swallowing the words". She gave an example and it was so spot on. Another thing I noticed on a podcast is females will do this thing where they go really slow in the beginning of the sentence then it speeds up towards the end. Yeah I hate bagging on the girls but I couldn't listen to this podcast anymore because of it and it was on a subject i enjoyed. I just had a hard time following their conversastions as they both did it. I'd have to rewind it to re hear the second part because my brain was set on a certain pace.
  21. Not sure if this was brought up in another thread, don't remember... but you have to watch the We Are the World Doc on Netflix. It's very good. One of the best things I've watched in a long time.
  22. Pushing up the daisies
  23. I don’t think pudge was getting any offers for more than a year. Tigers offered 4 and an option.
  24. Yes. Ballplayers typically were good. my friend got tipped $400 from Frank Thomas. He was a valet at the Ritz. The Sox had a crew go to the Windsor Ballet. My friend was the only valet working at that time of night so he drove over to get them. Frank handed it to him and said “this is from the guys”. They pool their tips but my buddy was alone so if was all his.
