  1. On my latest trips to TN the last year and a half I noticed one in Kentucky not long after I get back on the interstate. But it's right after the absolute best rest area so I never stop at it. The Kentucky Artisan Center is what it's called. https://kentuckyartisancenter.ky.gov/
  2. technically no. But it sure would feel nice. But it's baseball. They could get swept at home then go to CLE and sweep them there... again.
  3. that makes sense. Don't go against the grain but damn, pops, I'm busy over here and you are our largest single shareholder. I Have a memory of some kind of falling out between Sheila's husband and Jr. I think he was Jr's chief of staff at one point then was relegated to Then Henry Ford for work.
  4. I mean any theory's as good as the next but Jr had been around the team for a long time in what appears to be more that just symbolic.... then she takes more, puts the daughter in charge, and we get what we get. Personally I am buying my theory.
  5. In my readings of auto history the women were always pushed aside. They were to be seen and not heard. Meaning... the spouses. Martha's generation. They had to sit back and watch the men play around on them and host the parties and pay attention to the social hierarchy. Based on that I don't know if it's about Firestone as much as "the girls know what we're doing too and it's our time. The team is legally mine and you've got another job your dealing with.". I knew someone who worked in the offices. When Sheila took over they literally went down the halls pointing to people and firing them on the spot.
  6. it'll make me nervous.
  7. this is the start of either a very good week or a very bad week.
  8. Fred Lynn is one of those guys who never ages and looks like he could still play.
  9. I was like that in ‘87 with Eric King and Mike Henneman.
  10. He acts like he’s on the edge of a ladder leaning over a railing and a 10 foot drop and afraid of a sudden movement. He’s doing the easy part. I was pushed a photo of Chuck Schumer “grilling” burgers. He had his glasses on the table right next to the grill and the cheese was already placed on the raw patties . He has a spatula in his hand smiling at the camera.
  11. I’m honestly not sure if I knew they were different pitchers.
  12. I don’t take any glee in their suffering either, even though they “asked for it”. We need food.
  13. But whose problem is that to solve? Should people just volunteer to work for a lower wage to help a brother out? The issue is we had an aging workforce that saw an opportunity during COVID to either retire or not bother with that second job. Baby boomers are reaching retirement age.
  14. I'm so tired of the "spoiled" and "lazy" argument. It's about choice and opportunity. We saw it during covid when places couldn't find workers and some nutjob would get on TV and whine "Nobody wants to work anymore". No. Nobody wants to work for you. Compete for employees like you compete for customers. Nobody is entitled to a workforce.
  15. Do you feel like I do was a jukebox staple for me back in my dive bar years about 20 years ago. Every Monday I'd walk up to a place and meet two buddies. That's what having small kids at home do to you. Started with Monday night football and free pizza at halftime then we just kept going for about 5 years.
  16. “I don’t like country music, but I don’t mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means ‘put down.’” - Bob Newhart
  17. I don’t think that’s the case. The team has no link to the company. It was bought by Henry’s grandson.
  18. Water finds its level.
  19. Cleveland’s extra game is part of DH on Sep 20. Not sure why I am telling you that but I was curious. I I’m not worried. No.
  20. I remember how it came about. We were going on about Scientology. Then I threw in…. “Well but….” I go with Bill Burrs take on why Scientology is weird. Speaking of Hubbard “this guy has a drivers license”. Meaning it started not that long ago.
  21. They dont need local media anymore. They tolerate it but what they used to get out of them justified the sacrifice of being on your toes. But now that they have their websites and networks the papers aren’t a necessity to sell the product. Nobody is reading anyway.
  22. Precisely. I once told a fundamentalist friend about how “weird” Christianity is when you think about it. I was complimenting their faith. Meaning the definition of the word itself. When you spend your whole life in a belief system then it crosses into common sense territory. You become numb to it. Of course Jesus died then one again. But step away for a minute and try to focus on how strange that is. They thought I was being sacrilegious or confrontational. It was the opposite actually but they get scared when you second guess.
  23. It just comes down to the fact that conservatives are so brainwashed and spoon fed and sheltered that any statement not in full compliance with their beliefs is seen as confrontational and that extends to saying things like celebrating or mocking. Their brains can’t process context everything has to be an absolute.
