  1. I was just spitballing. I didn’t rewind it and was too depressed to check further because I assumed he would score and the Tigers wpuld lose. I agree with G2’s later assessment that he lost his footing. That’s a play he’s made a lot and it didn’t look too difficult in real time. Something happened for him to miss it in my opinion other than just missing it. And yes I did play ball in high school and after in an adult league. I’d say above average but never the best player on the team. Maybe I could have played in a small college if I worked harder? But I had a girlfriend. I did have a good arm from the outfield though. I loved throwing strikes from out there. My favorite play to watch today. A good relay from the corner to the IF to the plate to nail the runner is better than sex.

Ohio's refurbishing their rest stops. The last 3 going south on 75 are closed. So it's Findlay then bust for me in a few weeks. And the one just north of Cincy was nice. It looked new. It wouldn't be so bad if 75 wasn't always a cluster in Cincy trying to cross the bridge.
  3. my ESPN feed froze up as the final out was up in the air..... and I kept waiting to get the alert on my phone that the Tigers won, it's pretty instantaneous..... no alert so I was getting nervous.
  4. I knew they’d come thru.
  5. I wonder if the ball had backspin on it and Tork just flubbed it
  6. I don't buy into collapses and all of that. You play 162 games. Sometimes you win a lot up front, at the end, or mix it up throughout. There will be winning streaks and losing streaks sprinkled in. None are more valuable than the other. The Tigers won 87 games. The Guardians won 88. If they played 170 games maybe the Tigers win 93 games and the Guardians win 92 games. It just happens to be the numbers after 162. A win or a loss by either team will not be surprising, esppecially a 3 game series.

If you plan on stopping in Winslow.... but I think you already did that? I know you did the meteor crater.

we always took route 2 to Cedar Point. At the age of 16 friends and I decided to go. We asked someone's dad how to get there, he said "75 to 2". That stuck with me so it's always how we went. I love those roads.
  9. We saw Bonnie Raitt a few weeks ago and after she did Angel from Montgomery the whole place just got up and applauded for 3 minutes. Given the demographics it's a sit down concert for sure so it obviously felt special to do that.
  10. Working from home for over 5 years I felt some isolation. I’d walk up to the gas station just to get a coffee or iced tea and see a human outside of family. . I quickly learned to not get impatient at the old guy buying his lottery tickets. That might be their only interaction all day with someone. My uncle is in mid mid 60s. He was laid off in his 40s from a job delivering magazines. He hooked up with our church which also had a school to be their operations guy. Basically a janitor/fix it/arrange for any work guy. Had an “office” in their garage. It was perfect for him at that stage in their life. They had everything paid off. Before work every day he’d meet up with the old timers at McDonald for coffee. I’d laugh. “Uncle Joe and the old guys”. Now hes the old guy. Now at family functions we drink together and play the “well I’ll have another if you do…”. Then my wife and his wife ask if we are ready to go then we blame the other. It’s my wife’s uncle and godfather so it works out with good laughs. We found out their senior apartment complex is next to a cemetery where Eddie Cicotte (of the 1919 black sox) is buried so we have it on our agenda this fall to find his grave. Beer will be involved. Anyway… the point is be nice to older people. They deserve it. And they know more.
  11. A daily trip at 3 for a drink with retirees is a definite life goal of mine. Whenever I burn a personal or vacation day this time of year with no real plans I always try to have lunch at a place where I can have a beer. They taste so much better that way.
  12. I don't believe it was every about "tyranny". If it were...well.... we are getting some of it now and those good ol' boys are pretty damn quiet. Or scared.
  13. Where: Progressive Field Cleveland, OH Listen: 97.1 The Ticket, LaZ WDTW 1310AM/107.9FM, ESPN Radio Watch: ESPN Weather: Sunny 74 degrees Starting Pitchers: DET: Tarik Skubal CLE: Gavin Williams
  14. I don’t like Cleveland because the way their fans invaded tiger stadium in the 90s. I know it’s not their fault but that stuff sticks with me. Same with the Jays. Even today they sneak over the border.

  16. I'm not sure he thinks they are the guys to build around. Not to relitigate the trade deadline stuff but I'm not surprised if he had a "Let's see what we can get from this group but I'm not making special plans for them" attitude. He go the job 3 years ago. They made the playoffs in 2 of the 3 full seasons he was GM.
  17. yeah but you didn't serve in the military though so you just wouldn't understand man.... shoot first ask questions later.
  18. Sandy Hook was a pivotal moment for me when it comes to political leanings. When the GOP came out and was like "no... we're not having any discussions" I knew then they were crazy people. If the knowledge of toddlers being nearly sawed in half with a gun doesn't move a person to start having a conversation on what can be done then there is no point. Obviously something is missing from their soul. I wanted away from those people and they've shown since they are as crazy as I thought.
  19. Let's use this thread to discuss the playoffs rather than a new one. Since going to a 2 out of 3 in the WC round: Last year one WC made the LCS In 2023 it was 3 teams In 2022 it was 2 teams Obviously interested to see which WC teams this year make it.
  20. Generally speaking, I know i can walk in now and get a gun, beyond any waiting period. I have no record and no flags, etc. I'm just a normal dude with some cash. That should not be the case. The last time I fired a gun was 2019 in Texas when I asked my brother in law to take me to a range. That might have been the only time I fired a handgun other than a .38 in TN out in the woods. I've shot rifles here and there with scouts and again with family in the woods. I'm not a gun person. I don't have a problem for the most part with people who are. When I went to the range I saw the appeal. Like going to a driving range. Nothing wrong with that. But there should be restrictions on who, when, and what kind of guns we can get.
  21. Post latest expansion, I wonder what organizations have the biggest overlap between players? We joke about the Smith era Tigers always trading with the Padres for example.
  22. I don't have hte sound on but it would be great if that were played to the Benny Hill music. Was that the Dave Mathews Band bridge?
  23. Right up there with “we don’t have global warming. It was 45 degrees today on April 19….”
  24. Which is all contained in the quote of his I posted. It’s just that you are somehow against it but also for it. Put another way when the real meaning is revealed and understood in its barest it’s embarrasses or shames you so you need to bark something about “context”. Nice try. You are ok with dead kids scattered about in churches and schools as long as you and guys like these shooters can get your guns.
