I struggle with that a little. I have 1-3 a day. But I have started back to drinking lighter beers when I do that. If I have something 6% or higher then it's just one. I like the flavor. I get N/A beer now so that if I want one while cooking dinner, or want another one later in the night. Hockey playoffs are coming up and I love those west coast games.

Did she give up anything? I couldn't care less about the politics of it or how it hurts her and if she is thinking about that then she's not doing her job. She's governing Michigan, not running for President. What harm was caused? Maybe she didn't get anything but did she give up anything?

Our pack was chartered through a Catholic Church so you had that double whammy.... anybody in the church who was in "charge" of kids, be it through coaching as a sports team, or whtever, had to do training called "Protecting God's Children". And with Scouts we had our own training. Frankly some of it is good advice. One big one was the buddy rule. THe kids should not ever be alone. Find a buddy. And for adults we were never to be around kids unless another adult was around.

And I don't see where she "groveled". She's a governor of a state impacted by tariffs and he's the president. She shouldn't ignore him. Senators have different jobs. They don't govern states.

I will play "boomer" and say we all did a double take when we saw there was a "video game" badge. "What kind of fun is it when we can't swim naked anymore because of the girls around?"

Blue Origin launched an "all female crew" including some celebritiess and I'm seeing all kinds of emotional reactions and talk of "trailblazing". Sorry... I'm going to nerd out and say this is not something special. These are not astronauts. This is not a "crew". They are passengers going up for a flight that is less than what Alan Shepard did in 1961. He was up for 15 minutes they are up for 11. They are going up 2 miles short of the Karman line (62 miles) which is considered "space". So yeah... it's cool what they are doing but let's not overstate this as something more than it is. It's rich and connected woman paying for a PR stunt. If I had the money i'd do it in a heartbeat. It's a combo bungee jump/zipline experience.

My son was in scouting from 2007-2013. Cubs through a few years of Boy Scouts. Their changes are the natural result of who is participating at the kid and leader level. I'd say 1/3 of the leaders were women. Our particular troop had a large presence of the female "Sea Scouts". Councils were running low on money and merging so if you want the org to survive there has to be consolidation of operations and if that means combining the boys and girls so be it.

Our various fitness coaches and instructors like to say "You can't outrun a bad diet". "It's about what you put in your mouth". And they are not trying to get into fat shaming or focus on our appearances.... it's more about "if you are here to get skinnier, that's something I can't do that for you." Their job isn't to make us lose weight. It's to get us to move around and lift. Anything beyond that is up to us.

So who was hurt by what she did or tried to do? What harm was caused. Is any Michigander worse off today due to her visiting DC? this hyperventilating is nauseating and no wonder why Dems lose national elections. The Puritan bull**** has to stop.

Emilio is 3 years older than his dad was when WW started.

This is one of those “eh” games. Hard to sweep.

Yeah some of those are bad. They thought the Tigers fired Gibson from the broadcast booth. Most of them talk about RBI as the most important stat in baseball and hate "the mexicans". I mean.... it's facebook.

I'm still not convinced. I will argue that people are confusing what Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan should be doing vs what Gretchen Whitmer, potential democratic nominee for President in 2028 should be doing. I don't give a crap about electoral politics or photo ops in the oval office. Being there doesn't mean she's endorsing whatever he's signing. "It doesn't look good" or "her advisers let her down". So what? Did she suggest or endorse any particular policy? That's what I'm asking about "what did she do wrong?" It's not a rhetorical question because I've been busy the last 2 days so I'm only seeing bits and pieces.

I'm not clear what Gretchan did wrong.

I’m not bothered at all by what Whitmer did today. She’s doing her job for her constituents. Our state is particularly affected due to the autos. Just like I wasn’t bothered when Chris Christie was with a Obama right before the 2012 election. Republicans bashed him for it.

In a way we might wish he could, and wants to run again. He’s in serious IDGAF mode. Because he doesn’t have to. He only cared about his supporters when he needed their votes. They have nothing to offer him anymore. He’s always been transactional.

It's baseball. The best teams lose 3 times a week and 12-13 times a month. Water finds its level. Yada yada yada

That's a good take. I like to think about bands that were "ruined" by things like that. Especially our generation with MTV. It did great things for certain careers and made them rich but unless people dig deeper they miss out on some great music by focusing just on the songs they know from videos. Took me years to discover how great a band like ZZ Top or the Cars were once you dig deeper.... and by golly Stevie Winwood. FOr the first half of my life he was the "back in the high life again" guy, which I love as a song.... but that was it. THe mid 80's guy with his suit jacket sleeve rolled up with a mullet. I think he's severely underrated. I"m not saying he's a hidden gem because a lot of people love him once they know.

When Alan Mulally left Boeing and went to Ford, got push back from one of the VP's there implying he didn't understand the challenge of quality issues.. "Look, our cars have thousands of parts, if they don't work it breaks down" "That's nice. At Boeing our airplanes have millions of parts and if they don't work they fall out of the sky and people die"

I prefer Bob Cole’s Day-Troy-it.

Last year I was selected to be the fan of the game where they put me in good seats, introduced me on the board, and I had to pick a walk up song. I went with Sabatoge.

We had this same conversation on opening day. Wife said "That's his parents music" and I corrected her and said "That's his grandparent's music... remember, these players could now be our kid". Which prompted a discussion on whether Dave Mathews Band is GenX's version of Jimmy Buffet?

I thought the same thing. Umpire has a “it’s cold and nobody wants to be here” strike zone.

The Yankees bitch more than any other team in the history of baseball

Our portion sizes are too large and we're a consumer culture. There's also an element of not being wasteful and "eat everything on your plate" as a thing of honor instead of eating until you are full. "Starving kids in China" etc. My special needs son will eat anything you put in front of him, especially vegetables, but is good at stopping when he's full. But if you tell him to eatmore, he will. Plenty of times we've had to correct my mohter in law for trying to make him "eat all of his fries" No. He's fine. We have too many restaurants and other eateries and they have to compete with each other. Even when I was a kid 40 years ago eating out was a rare thing. I admit it myself, I get lunch on Tuesday from my favorite local deli, a breakfast on Friday morning from our bagel place. We go out as a family most Saturdays, and when I visit my mom on Sunday I get her Taco Bell because she's 95 and needs to eat something hearty and their power bowls are good for her. I walk across the street to KFC and get a chicken sandwich. Mobil apps are awesome. But now we have door dash and uber eats teaching young peole they can get anything they want whenever and it'll cost more but they've normalized that cost. So they're being wasteful and unhealthy for a barely warm meal from Chipotle.
