One year at a condo on the beach I watched the maintenance guy every morning and thought “I want that as a retirement gig”. Came by every day and picked up things around the pool, changed garbage out, sprayed off the pool area, straightened the chairs…. Maybe he does some light work with regard to plumbing or electrical. I just love early morning prep work for some reason. One summer when I was delivering pizzas I also made the dough in the morning. Getting up wifh the sun, working alone for a few hours, then face the day knowing you accomplished something. It’s the same feeling I get when I run in the morning.

That's the weather in July too. I tell you, Pacific Beach where we went was probably the perfect place for me. I loved it.

Which just speaks to the structural diffrences, of which MLB has no control over except to move to a 17 game season. I get that on any given Sunday, or Monday or Thursday, team A could win and team B could lose, turning one of those contenders into a playoff participant. That's more likely than team A winning 9 games and team B losing 9 games in a row to keep it proportional. Baseball cannot, and is not trying to, emulate that. That's why comparions between the two leagues are apples and oranges. In baseball teams play almost everybody. If you have several great teams then mathematically you are likely to have several teams comparitively worse. Now to more more to the spirit of what MB is inferring, would baseball be better if on Aug 19, 2023 you had a few teams with 75+ wins (BAL/TB/ATL/LAD) and then more teams with 60-74 wins? (15 teams were over, 9 teams were under 60 at that point). I'm not sure the math would support that unless the bad teams were that much worse. Worth noting, on that date the Arizona Diamondbacks were at 64-61.

The other Arab countries are afraid of bringing the fight to them. It's such a tribal culture as well. They don't hate Hamas as much as we do because in their heart they feel some sympathy to them. Yeah I said it.

man that interview was great. Guys like that are amazing. So talented and hustling to make a living. I listened to WDFN probably 18 hours a day for years. That Stoney and Wojo song is so ingrained in my memory as it started every day when I'd leave for work.
-
I knew of him from WDFN. I still think of his song "Moronic" anytime I hear "Ironic"

The Tigers were still eligible in the playoffs on Sep 20.

Hamas has probably already murdered the hostages so they know they have nothing else to offer to keep a "cease fire". Or they just want to keep raping them.

I think it is pretty clear that popularity doesn't make something "better". Especially when it comes to entertainment. That's not an argument you want to start. You keep mentioning the Tigers under Dombrowski. One franchise doesn't prove anything. It's simply a data point among many. Drafting and development are just one of several ways to build a team. Also I think the NBA's financial success and popularity sort of refutes your argument. Just accept that the NFL is unique among american sports and you can't use it to make a judgement against any other league.

I didn't pay for them. They were a "reward" for being at miggy's 3000th hit game, and to celebrate his 500th HR. I'd rather they just send me another tumbler or some coasters.
-
These cease fire protesters are simply idiots. They act like Joe Biden is running the show. They never mention the Hamas hostages. They never mention Hamas. To many of them Hamas are freedom fighters. To many of them Oct 7 didn't even happen. You can't reason with that kind of stupidity
-
How can that be? You said MLB doesn't "reward" teams like that, whatever that means. I'm not even sure what your point is. MLB and the NFL are structurally different, they have to be. One league plays 10 times the number of games, teams have local broadcast rights, there's no hard salary cap, they have guaranteed contracts, players take longer to develop, there's more of an international presence, they play every day... If you like one over the other, fine, that's a personal choice. But you can't objectively say one is better than the other because it's a matter of opinion.
-
I don't disagree with any of that. I said before the fighting started that Israel needs to be careful not to lose their "goodwill'', cant think of a better word. I thought of the movie Patriot Games when Ryan is talking to the CIA folks about the murder of some IRA guys at a farmhouse, "It's British soldiers Jack getting out of hand, they're not above it, not after a hit on the Royal Family".

wonder if that jeopardizes his "job" with the Tigers?

I keep meaning to have my plumber replace all my valves with the 1/4 turn ball valves. He told me to turn those every few months to keep fresh. Like when you change furnace filters or shut off outside faucets. He also said to get rid of your garbage disposal. Or at least don’t use it. Dump all your food. are those 1/4 turn valves up to code for toilets?
-
You are right. I looked him up after posting this. But just in general I am not sure I want any long term deals for awhile for anyone. This org if they are doing well what they claim then those players should be coming up in the system. Get to the 86-90 win range then we can talk a breakout signing. Get a solid system then then you are less beholden to them on the back end when they fade. Cut them loose.

Yes. It sure was. It was streaming as of very recently but appears to be taken down again.

They could have kept Cabrera but didn't want to. That's different from not being able to.
-
I wonder if Mahomes wishes he could he a free agent in a league without CBT instead of a salary cap?
-
I got some from the Tigers and frankly don't know what to do with them. Not even sure how I find them wherever they are. They sent me a link, I opened an app or something, and there 'it' was. Ok... great. Now what?
-
shut off the main water. Or look for another shutoff upstream to the kitchen faucets. I do that now rather than mess with those individual valves. I got burned once when swapping out a dishwasher where my shutoff valve wouldn't close back up and it was a Sunday... Of course that is dependent upon you being able to fix it or be in a position to turn it back on without any issues.

NFT's are still a thing?

7 franchises have won the last 10 super bowls, 9 franchises have won the last 10 world series, including the aforementioned Royals. It's apples and oranges anyway because you build the teams different. There's a lot more development and international work that goes on in MLB.

The difference is the NFL teams are not reliant on local TV contracts and markets. They also have a more stringent salary cap I believe. The Salary Cap is basically the TV money. The teams split that evenly, at the national level. And given the nature of the draft it's probably easier for bad teams to get good considering your top draft picks are very often impact players. I don't see it as better but I'm not a football guy. It brings me no special joy that KC wins over LA or NY. They both are not Detroit so who cares?
