  1. In 2006 I sold my game 2 tickets to help defray the cost. In 2012 I sold game 3 for the same reason. So obviously hard to compare because in 2006 nothing bad had happened yet so we were all jacked up. When I went in ‘12 they were down 0-3. before the game we stopped at a local bar. Had drinks with Giants fans who as soon as their team won game 3 they saw the ticket prices plummet so they bought them and were able to get cheap flights. Nice people. Sitting next to us at the game was an older lady by herself, a Giants fan, who had a well worn book she used to keep score. I think she was afraid to cheer but when it got to two outs in the 9th I encouraged her to cheer. It was ok. We won’t bite. Definitely a different vibe in that game. The odds of coming back are not zero but close. If they won it would cost me $190 more plus parking and all that. Root for them or just get it over with another reason I hate digital only tickets. I have mementos from 2006, 2009, 2011-14. It became a yearly ritual to go to FedEx to pick up our playoff tickets. There were actually lines to do it.
  2. I distinctly remember leaving my final home game in 2012, they went on the road a few games after to close out the season, and the team had just tied the White Sox for first place in the AL Central. They showed it on the scoreboard, 82-72. Us regulars in our section were both doing the "I hope to see you soon in the playoffs and Have a good winter, see you next season" types of goodbyes.
  3. In '06 I really think the layoff got to them. They played sloppy which makes me think it's timing and the day to day nature of baseball. They didn't hit in game 1, won game 2, got shut down by Carpenter in game 3, should have won game 4, and were competitive in game 5. In '12 they didn't hit. Outside of game 1 every game was very close. They had guys on base in key moments. In '13 Papi's slam was the big moment but they lost game 3 by a solo HR. Won game 4. Played like crap in game 5. Had the lead late in game 6. Conversely Boston could also say "Hey we lost game 1 by a single run" Its not a stretch to think they could have won back to back in 2013. But these teams were also not as good as we might look back and think. They never had home field b/c of a better record.
  4. Does Fetterman go on the Senate Floor and talk about how people who wear hoodies are bad and we need to keep them out of public life and not let our libraries and schools refer to them?
  5. and '13 was the one that got away.
  6. the current AG of Alabama is arguing they have a right to question and monitor transportation of minor females to see if they are going across state lines for abortion. The argument isn’t that they will… but that they could. You know how those end up working out. They claim they can prosecute women and those who help them obtain abortions in other states and in the case of minors they can pay special attention. After all it’s a criminal conspiracy at that point.
  7. Notice in the scene when Joe walks up to collect the tip, he notices right away someone “didn’t throw in” and when asked who it’s Mr Orange who tattles in Mr Pink. Foreshadowing his status as the rat.
  8. “I got two words for you. Learn to ****ing type”
  9. I learned things at KFC that I still utilize today. It taught me so much. Dexterity. Multi tasking. Planning. And if was a hell of a lot of fun.
  10. I would argue working in fast food just just as hard as working in a factory or warehouse. You are on your feet all day. They do more than just flip burgers. The kiosks are a response to labor shortages and simply a way to keep your staff focused on other things. When I worked retail having to deal with a customer was a pain in the ass because you often had other things you needed to be doing. CVS has the self checkout now so when I have to pay I don't have to bother the person stocking shelves who needs to stop what she's doing and walk across the floor so she can do what I can do myself. Boomers have aged into retirement now. Workers have choices and business has to fight for them like they have to fight for customers. Nobody's entitled to a labor force. I've seen too many business owners on TV whining about lazy people not wanting to work. They do. Just not for you. My son was arguing with my bro in law a few weeks ago and I was proud of him. A comment was made about "HS kids flipping burgers makeing $17 an hour". My son asked if those jobs were only for HS workers then why are they open during school hours? I think a lot of fast food places simply found out that most people don't care to eat inside anymore and it's not worth paying for more people to keep the dining room clean. OUr favorite middle eastern place became a carryout haven during COVID so much that now he cringes when people want to eat inside. It throws off his routine.
  11. I was going to ask my doc about that. Probably go with the covid shot first then flu after if that's an issue.
  12. Who is the last GOP nominee other than Trump that would be acceptable to today's party? Certainly not Romney, McCain, or either Bush. Not even Reagan. Maybe Dole? Nixon and Ike were "globalists". I'm not familair enough with who FDR ran against other than Dewery, who's a definite no.
  13. I have my physical in a few weeks and plan on getting both the flu and booster. Bring it on. Someone should make band aids with meatball Ron's face on it to put over our shot site.
  14. That is so good. I can see his dumb face right now making that argument and Fox Heads eating it up.
  15. Vaping's not the worst consideration of what she does with that mouth
  16. He's got a friendly judge in the docs case and he's not worried about it, even though that's the one he faces the most heat. The strategy is delay it and hope we get a GOP President, then he'll get a pardon. So he's not worried. He should be, but he's not.
  17. "That's ok buddy... get 'em again next time. Good luck in the playoffs dude."
  18. During the crisis Dubya invited McCain and Obama into some key meetings so that they would know what's going on since it was going to be their problem at some point. Pelosi and other top Dems were also in the room. Bush asked them if they had any quesitons or comments and Pelosi said Obama would speak for their side. He did. Then Dubya looked over at McCain who had nothing. Dubya wasn't impressed.
  19. Could also say that Palin in 2008 invited all of that to boil up. Throw in the first black President and it had elements for victim status among the aggrieved. "Look how they attached a normal housewife who's a Christan.... We got ourselves a black President, who is also Mooslim and... get this... his name is Hussein!" It all tied together. 2008 awakened them and when they stayed home in 2012 it enabled Obama's landslide.
  20. To be fair to Al, I don't think that was his decision. That's more of a marketing thing. Al's job was the players and coaches. I hate it. Caberera's last game should be wearing the same jersey that our other legends wore. Not some gimmicky gas station knock off.
  21. If Romney had won in 2012, and ran for re-election.... Trump would have run in 2016 as a Democrat and won espousing mostly the same issues he did on the campaign. We'd all be republicans now wondering what happened to the "Democrat" party.
  22. This is a good point as to why maybe some cave in or retire.... People are crazy. I can only imagine what it's like for low level people, like say election workers. Imagine someone here gets appointed to some commission that 5 years ago nobody even knew existed. Now confronted with MAGA and Tucker mentiones your name and your phone number and address gets linked.... that's nuts.
  23. Pay attention when you are in traffic at a stop light how long it takes to move once the light turns green. I bet 20 years ago you'd have had 3 or 4 more cars make it through the green than you do now. Why? Because people are on their phones and not paying attention. Car in front goes, they are looking down.... "oh, I can go?" On Tuesday a lady in a car next to me was facetiming while driving. Right hand on the wheel, left hand holding the phone. While moving. Her window was down so I slammed my horn when I got next to her and yelled at her. She dropped her phone. It was extremely satisfying. I really do not understand what is so important that requires you to be messing with your phone all the time while driving. I make a thing now when stopped to see how many people reach out for them. Easily 60%.
  24. Buttigieg is very smart and explains things very well. If the voting public were interested in competence and not drama he would be a slam dunk Harris isn’t popular. That stinks because I really believe if she said she wouldn’t be on the ticket and wanted to be a senator again then Biden would announce he isn’t running. That would open things up. I think Biden is running in part because of Harris. If he doesn’t then he has to support her and he doesn’t think she has a chance to win.
  25. I joined a just for fun, kind of, league. $100 and you get 10K in funny money to play with on college and pro. Have to bet at least half your money every two weeks. It’s fun. Gives me an excuse to watch the games and my son and I are already spending more time together. I certainly see the appeal and gives me just enough of an adrenaline rush with no real risk in reality.
