  1. Remember McCain in the grilling of Comey in June 2017? He went off the rails. He had a brain tumor. I wonder if that's a similar case of the mouth not doing what the brain wants.
  2. Don't forget tax implications when considering "the most money". In some cases the money might be more in terms of contract but when you factor in the state and local taxes it might not be the most money for the player. and every player is different. Some might go closer to home. Some might go to the highest bidder if there's not much difference in the organization because they want to do their part to lift the rising tide for the guys coming after them. I don't think as a whole they will always go to the highest bidder. Many if not most will. But not all.
  3. I saw two clips this morning, after hearing Fetterman struggled, and at least in these two clips I didn't see it. It really is an issue of ableism. If he can pass written competency tests then it's fine. Being able to not process audible is a legit thing but the mind can do it. We had that issue in my city with our mayor. Verbally he's all over the place. But I was told by a friend on council that he would pass a written test with flying colors. That's all he would say. My dad had strokes and was that way a little bit. We wouldn't hold it against a deaf person who needed captioning or a blind person who needed audible. This is no different.
  4. That just shows how much of a crapshoot the draft is. Pick any random team and a random year and the results are usually pretty pedestrian. Here's what I did just now on BR, all random, the best player picked: 2013 Astros - Tony Kemp 2010 Twins - Eddie Rosario 2015 Rockies - Brendan Rogers 2012 A's - Matt Olsen (good pick, #47 overall, comp pick for losing DeJesus) I think our old friend Biggs was right with his theory that if you can get a Tony Clark in your draft then it was a very good draft. He wasn't anything special, solid player but that's about all you can hope for. Not every draft has a franchise player like a Trout or Verlander or ARod.
  5. That’s so bad because he’s not even going with the morality clause that all abortion is simply a sin. By bringing the state into it he’s admitting there’s wiggle room.
  6. From the replies it says that this court is not the highest court in the state.
  7. Is he the guy that handcuffed a protester?
  8. I don't remember if this was the thread that had her bit or not..... but here she is on Kimmel last night.
  9. If I hear of any of this in Michigan I'm going to go up there and sit next to them and just film them. Or if they are near my drop box I will find the most offensive and disgusting music I can find and blare it. I figure these idiots claim to be christians. They'll love it. My son is 21. He knows that stuff.
  10. Can't one of the Secret Service agents do it? They don't work for him. He doesn't sign their checks.
  11. One guy I follow said that by hyping up R favored polls they are pumping the public so that if the D's do surprise people then the only obvious reason is.... fraud and cheating.
  12. So Sartori and Mezin are still around?
  13. They are doing pipe construction on my street. Been going on since late August. Where I live is near a cross street that's often used as a shortcut to avoid a 3 way intersection nearby. It's a one way to alleviate some of that. There's "no thru traffic signs up" but off to the side to allow residents to get to their house. Today they are working right on the corner and put the sign right in the middle. because the earth movers are in the middle of the street. So many times just today I've seen cars pull right up to the sign and then sit there confused as to what to do because the sign is blocking the road. After about 20 seconds they begin the "back up of shame" and turn around, now turning their shortcut into an even longer ordeal. It's fun to watch actually. I saw this last week at the Free Press marathon in Detroit. Roads were blocked off for runners. So many times I'd see cars pull up to the barricade then just sit there dumbfounded as to why nobody will move it for them so they can cross. One person asked me. "I need to get over there, can you move that?" Do people just think these things are suggestions?
  14. He's going to win easily however. So will lil' Marco.
  15. Philadelphia won the WS in 1929, 1980, and 2008.
  16. I can usually tell a polling outfits bias by the wording of the questions. Either the framing or use of certain buzzzwords. I wonder two things: Would a person be more likely to participate if they detect their side asking? Could a firm work around this by pretending to be the other side to elicit responses?
  17. I was getting bored with TV so I put it on fox 2 at 10:20 to check the weather and all that. Immediately there was a political ad so I just put on The Office. Just can’t anymore. Seems like there are more this season. I’m also burned out from having that channel on all morning from 6:30 - about 10.
  18. probably some guy with a bunch of consonants in their name that nobody heard of. 🙂
  19. Still.... "This is the fifth time I've been dumped by a Victoria's Secret Angel"
  20. I recently learned a few years ago that SRV played on Let’s Dance. Never knew that.
  21. Russia can sue the Times for libel? The first sentence factually states the transfers are happening. No qualifier. Therefore I don’t see the need for “potential”. I don’t think the times needs to worry about calling it a “war crime”. It’s a generic enough term. Nobody’s going to sue them.
  22. That’s how I feel. Got anyone better?
  23. I say that because I assume they want to do whatever is needed to prevent any chance of insolvency. It’s not just a bad look for the league but there’s real world implications for their competition. Imagine a scenario where a team is behind on payment to vendors so they stop supplying clean towels. Or a hotel or airplane situation comes up where a team can’t get to KC in time and a game has to be forfeited. Stadium support staff walks out because payroll once again didn’t get met? MLB teams are not trying to put each othe out of business. They are all partners.
  24. I have nothing to back this up with but I would say no because the ultimate goal is to protect the overall brand of MLB of which a team is a franchise of. They can make the appropriate business deal for themselves, regarding financing, but MLB has rules and standards that have to be met.
