2023 Detroit Tigers Regular Season Discussion Thread

He's like Tony Clark. Only hits HR when it doesn't count. -
My 22 year old drinks Modelo when he will drink beer. Has nothing to do with the 'controversy', this goes back over a year. I just noticed it when he'd come to games with me. I only drank it when in Mexico City or a restaurant in southwest Detroit. I thought it was because one of his best friends is from Mexico and that was the influence for him. But they are a primary sponsor at Comerica Park now.

That's the ****ty thing..... what they are doing is the right thing to do. Treat it as a non partisan issue. It degrades it if you have dems on TV spouting talking points about the trial as if it's some celebrity/OJ type thing. But what's right politically is a different manner. The appeal to idiots is a conundrum.

I don't subscribe to any of it because I figure all of you will do the work and I can just read about it and stand on the shoulders of geniuses. -
yeah he's more of a Tonto....

But Paul Ryan said recently Fox is important and that's why he stayed on the board of directors.
-
not sure I'm a fan of this.....

tiktok? Rick Beato did an interview with a music critic who touched on this. It was a great chat.

reading the replies and I see a comment about the need to 'drive in runs' next.

of the declared candidates he's their best choice and if I had to accept one of them to be President it would probably be him.

Thye keep going back to the documents Biden had in his garage. What they don't say is he found them and gave them back. I don't initially fault any POTUS, VPOTUS, or other high level official who's primary job is dealing with this info if they inadvertently have some of these in their possession. There's thousands of documents and things are over classified anyway. The whole point is when you find out or are told by Archives.... then you give it back. Like Biden and Pence did.

My son's graduation all night party in 2019 was at the Fairlane Club, which during it's hey day was a members only club for professionals. Had all that stuff. I was a chaperone at the party and during one of my shifts was assigned to the area where the courts were, basically to make sure nobody was making out in a closet or deserted space. I grabbed a racquet and ball and started hitting it around. broke quite a sweat doing it. But I never formally played it. Just goofed around before being told to "get out of here" by an adult.

in hollywood women age faster! Right?

On Murder She Wrote she would cast a lot of her old acting friends so that they could obtain better SAG benefits as they got older. Genius.
-
man when I was a kid racquetball was king. You had those clubs popping up with a bar in it. As I got older it evolved to Wallyball, Volleyball in a racquetball court. Before any of us had kids we'd do that twice a week. Play a few games then drink cheap beer out of pitchers and eat pizza in their bar area. Do those places still exist? The few I can think of closed down.

I feel guilty for not going. Would have been solo which doesn’t matter. But the losing streak and Cooler weather had me down. And I found out a co worker passed away over the weekend so I was kind of blah. Felt more like a chore to have to go. -

I actually like the broadcast without Shep. Just some friends hanging out. I mean it. -

Right. What moves would you expect the Tigers to have made for this org? Sign a bunch of free agents? That’s why we are stuck with Baez. You can’t criticize for not signing free agents then complain about his deal and the predicament it left them in. There isn’t a mythical store of players out there waiting to be purchased or traded for. -
Maybe ADHD or Dyslexia. When I saw some symptoms of ADHD it sounded very familiar to what I experienced. I could ace tests but would get a C in class because I didn't do the daily work. In college classes I would get bored after about 20 minutes and drift off. I had and have no problem reading things, like if you said "Read the first 4 chapters of this tonight and tomorrow's a test" I would ace it. But if you told me to fill out this worksheet every day..... nope. I was "smart but didn't apply myself". We took a standardized test my senior year in HS. When the award ceremonies came out they announced some scholarship thing and were rattling off the usual "smart kids, the all A students".... then me. I got $500 a semester from that, twice a year not spring/summer my entire college "career" because of that. And back then that covered like 25% of my tuition. My son is the same way. I just figured I was lazy but I'm not sure now.

Some orgs are so good at it that i have to think there's a skill there that's not being used by others. What kind of profile in a player do you value? That's the kind of thing I hope Harris and his team is bringing here. Whether he can we just don't know and I scoff at presumed pundits who think the book on him is already written. Unfortunately it will take time to determine. The hope was guys like Greene and Tork and the pitchers would help keep things afloat until we know.

You don't rebuild through the draft. I went through the first 3 rounds of every draft since 2016. Here's what I found for "good" players. Will Smith, Dodgers. 32nd pick in 2016 1st round Pete Alonso, Mets 64th pick in 2016 2nd round Bo Bichette,Blue Jays 66th pic in 2016 2nd round Bryan Reynolds, Giants 59th pick in 2016 2nd round Zach Gallen, Cardinals 106th pick in 2016 3rd round Sean Murphy, A's, 83rd pick in 2016 3rd round Shane Mclanahan, Rays 31st pick in 2017 1st round It's development. x100. Some orgs can develop much better than others. You can't tell me the teams are sitting on gold players after the first 2 rounds just hoping they slip through.

that's good to know.
